Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi Neovalen,

Firstly, thanks for the awesome effort you are making to get this updated so quickly.

I have a quick query regarding SFO with the Punish Your Machine Edition. Vurt states you need to make the following modification...

"Requires iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=6 under [grass] in skyrim.ini"

Is this something we should add, and would it be worth adding to your tweaks section at the end?

Thanks in advance

I will investigate tonight.

I think its a generic Skyrim bug(not specifically related to SR/STEP) but I swear you need to be very careful where you save. Saving out in the open world appears to be the most dangerous for causing random ctd issues.

For example, while testing both STEP and SR I do frequent saves as I run around the game world and almost guaranteed at least one of them causes ctd after 20 seconds upon reload. Going to the previous save and coming back to the same area... no ctd. Anyone else notice behavior like this? I believe that's also why people recommend disabling auto saves.

You have to be really careful with Dragonborn.  There are inumerable CTDs that are caused by that DLC that have nothing to do with your mods perse.  It's really frustrating when you're trying to quality check things to be undone by Bethesda.  I have vanilla saves of a lvl 40 some character from my first unmodded playthrough that I use to test things, and it definitely causing way more problems than the new lvl 1 saves.

Having said that, I think there are a few generic places that you have to look out for.  The high traffic load areas for one, others like Helgen keep, but also when you zone into bandit dungeons (this checks leveled item lists and graphic conflicts) and then fast traveling to major cities like Whiterun.

I am pretty sure the game is about as stable as its going to get through what's been done in Skyrevisited.  Beyond that point, are imo some problem areas.  (computer is an I7-2600 @ 3.4ghz 8 gb RAM + Geforce680 4gb card, win7 -64) and I can't keep things stable past a certain point in the load order.  Especially when using the higher lvl save.

One other edit, from:

Click the [Configure Profiles] icon at the top of the main Mod Organizer window. The icon looks like an id card.

Select "Vanilla Skyrim" by clicking on it then click [Copy].

Type "Skyrim Revisited" in the text box and hit [OK].

Notice:Mod Organizer has just created an exact copy of the "Vanilla Skyrim" profile into a new profile named "Skyrim Revisisted". However, the activation state of the esm/esps are not included in this copy.

Click [Close] to exit the window.

Select "Skyrim Revisisted" in the "Profile" drop-down above the left pane.

Check the box next to the DLC ESMs in the ESPs tab on the Mod Organizer main window.

Actually, the selected options of the DLC/HRDLC .esm/.esp files does transfer to the new Skyrim Revisited profile assuming you clicked the "Save" button after selecting them when finishing the Vanilla Skyrim profile.

Perhaps adding to click Save, before copying the profile to create Skyrim Revisited eliminates this step. Just a thought.

Open TES5Edit.
Select all Bethesda ESMs and Distant DetailHF.esp then click [OK].
Expand "Worldspace">"0000003C">"Block 0,0">"Sub-Block 0,1" and select the "000090C4" node.
Drag the "EDID - Editor ID", "MHDT - Unknown", and "XLCN - Location" records from Hearthfires.esm to Distant DetailHF.esp.
Click the [X] in the upper right hand corner, uncheck "Backup plugins", and click [OK].

I think you forgot to say here that you have to select Hearthfires.esm where you expand the Worldspace

Hi Neo,

The Eyes of Beauty has been updated to 8.2

Just you say in the special installation just to get Dawnguard update and dont use esp.

Meaning not even get the main file?

But you still had version 8.1 standing there and not the Dawnguard version.

So I am a bit confused by this one tho.

Only the Dawnguard version. Means ignore main file.

Open TES5Edit.
Select all Bethesda ESMs and Distant DetailHF.esp then click [OK].
Expand "Worldspace">"0000003C">"Block 0,0">"Sub-Block 0,1" and select the "000090C4" node.

Expand Worldspace in Distant DetailHF.esp.

You will always modify the mod file. Never a DLC.

Yes but in the esp you can't drag it ;) and if you drag it from the esm to the esp when esm expanded its the esp you edit, not the DLC.

If you try that justjr, you will see if you expand worldspace of distant detailhf.esp you cant do what neo mentions there.

Regarding Eyes, he mentions version 8.1 wich is the main file and not only the dawnguard one.

Cos with some he especially say "Install only"

So are you very sure he means ignoring the main file? (its just for clarification)

Edit: Its not that I dont know what to do, I am just going thru the whole guide now like Neo himself is doing.

Just to help him to see if he didnt oversee something.

1 more eye set allways sees more then 1 :P

Yes you can do that from both dd and hearthfire esp/esm. :)

Then if so, don't matter which one you go.

About the Eyes of Beauty, I am sure, it is very clear. Only Dawnguard, means only Dawnguard, and never the main file. Which part is not clear?

About the version he states, it will not make a difference in the statement above. Still clearly only Dawnguard.

Na, I am pretty sure this is right as it is. :)

It's just that the instructions may become somewhat confusing if you don't pay attention to every single detail.

Nevertheless its clear for us but for some it might not be ;)

Cos he sometimes states it diffirent way.

Ok I found something again: SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators

Has Dawnguard and Dragonborn patches in the optional files.

Neo you do not have those in your guide, but you past this point already for DB update.

So I dont know if some stuff you do there is relevant?

The Hearthfire part probably still needs and the Distant DetailHF.

Edit: Just now Serious HD Retexture Skyrim is updated to 2.0

He redid some textures and added Dawnguard and Dragonborn stuff.
