Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

More Interactive Items. I think it only annoy me with the collisions, adds no good item, it's only more work to do. x)

I kind of agree and kind of disagree... annoying sometimes and a pain in the butt for compatibility... but nice realism addition...

Anyone else got feedback on this? Obviously MII is also a STEP mod so is good feedback for them also.

I agree on realism. But... it's not something you think "omg it should be there on the vanilla game", it's something dispensable, you will not miss it. And you don't really need this added in-game annoyance IMO.

In comparison, I find the More Village Animals per example, more like "hey cool, this farm really needed more animals". It adds a nice visual realism, without any annoying in-game stuff.

edit.: sorry, there's no pain in compatibility for MVA

A couple more hours adding and removing mods to look for stability.  I've got the game stable up to 4.7.1 (again with a few mods removed, like racemenu, lanterns and those that Neovalen hasn't had time to clean).

I keep getting instability from beards.esp, brows.esp and hair mods individually.  I don't know why, since Tes5edit see's them as fine and they aren't really doing anything, other than adding textures.

But ritualistically I keep getting the same reproducible CTD off an unmodded save when I zone into a dungeon or when I fast travel.

I figure they must be putting me over VRAM budget or some such and some other problem is killing the game, but still its really aggravating.

Maybe the XCLW Water height is supposed to go from Dawnguard to More Interactive Items[Dawnguard].

This. Totally right. DG change should go to DG plugin... typo... sorry guys. Will fix (makes sense considering the lines above)

Edit: typo fixed in guide.

But there is another problem remaining. More Interactive Items [Dawnguard] is an esm and loads before the USKP. When I look with TES5Edit I see that USKP has this same record with the original Skyrim water height, so you lose the water height edit you just made. I don't understand why the USKP has this record since all the values I see are the same as those in the original Skyrim.esm record except for the form version. Could this be a bug in the USKP that we should enter this as bug in the USKP bug tracker? If this record isn't a USKP bug then it is likely to be a bug in the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch which should have this record with the correct Dawnguard-set height to overwrite the USKP record. In the meantime one possibility might be for the overwrite to go the More Interactive Items esp instead since it loads after the USKP. I also wonder whether this water height value is actually used by Skyrim at all.

I will investigate when I get home. I very well could have meant the esp not esm and my previous post in error but can't verify from here... for some reason my boss looks down on that... lol. Teaches me for debugging at work... lol.

My edit is correct as is. The record being put into the More Interactive Items.esp is already covered in the unofficial patches section properly.

I see you removed the cleaning part from The Paarthurnax Dilemma.

Didnt check that one myself yet but its not needed anymore?

The only item that was listed for that mod is taken care of by the general patch.

There are a lot of mods that don't need extra steps since I added that.

I am with you in your updates. Waiting for you to install the mods with esps.

But already installed all textures (almost all constrained to 1024x2048, 512x1024 for normal maps, and optimized with DDS) and meshes, UNP, skeleton, FNIS and loose mods that don't need esps. Plus all mods I use that you don't use yet, which are:

"3DNPC, Pumping Iron, Closer Quivers, Dynavision, Lock Overhaul, Unread Books Glown, EzEs Remove 3D Map Cam Limits, RLO + Occlusion Culling Beta, CoT, T3nd0s SkyRedone and ReProccer + Balbors XML and patches, Bluckers, Immersive Armors, Immersive Weapons, ESFCompanions and The Choice is Yours."

Plus I cleaned and made edits of my own for ESFCompanions, CoT esm and CoT-Dawnguard esp (wich does not carry some unofficial and dlc changes) and a patch to solve a ReProccer problem with nettlebane. Also cleaned and edited Unique Places but decided to drop for a while since some users are reporting CTDs in the mod page, I will be looking for add it afterwards.

Looking good, no CTDs.

I think its a generic Skyrim bug(not specifically related to SR/STEP) but I swear you need to be very careful where you save. Saving out in the open world appears to be the most dangerous for causing random ctd issues.

For example, while testing both STEP and SR I do frequent saves as I run around the game world and almost guaranteed at least one of them causes ctd after 20 seconds upon reload. Going to the previous save and coming back to the same area... no ctd. Anyone else notice behavior like this? I believe that's also why people recommend disabling auto saves.

Yes, already had it, and seen many reports of it, even from people that don't have any mods. Also Gopher was having it in an specific area on his let's play.

I think it's inherent from Skyrim, but some mods and/or areas triggers or increase it's probability to happen.
