*cough* What are you referring to?! *cough*

nothing to see here. move along.

On another note, for the below, I'm confused on the guide text to choose your location - is that the purpose of the main file, or are we to decide between the main file VS. the back-hip-dagger one? Just enabling this now - forgot to ask this awhile ago.

XP32 Maximum Skeleton

Author: xp32

Version: 1.4 (Choose your own weapon locations)

Overrides: Realistic Ragdolls and Force

Thats correct - choose which version of the main file you want. :)

So logically I'd probably want to start with my DDSopting with SRO right? Im not really sure where to begin my DDSopt adventure.

I started by optimizing SRO, Skyrim HD, and Serious HD. Seems to have gotten some very nice gains from that alone.

I simply took the 'foundation' and all the mods that were >30megs as well as all the 4k textures mods etc.  maybe about 20 or 30 of them total.  I then set it up so that ddsopt would do them all at once, and left it on all night.  It took about 12 hrs.  Dont do water, aof mountain, soul gems or beards either.

That's just the Straightforward guide approach.   The problem was while there were gains a lot of those mods are already optimized.  So if memory is at a premium, you can do more advanced tricks like downgrading the normal maps.  Big performance gain for smallish gfx hit in principle, although I haven't done it yet.  End result probably shaved off a few hundred megs in the worst spot, which has kept me very stable ATM.  I rarely go over 2.6gb at this point and never more than 2.8..  I think maybe once in 2 hrs of play I hit that

I'm going to look at optimizing some of the 4k mods as well myself now.

You'll find it's already optimized.

For the most part, yes. There were still a few.

Neo' date=' did you use the same configuration from your guide for DDSopt when optimizing other mods?[/quote']

Yes. So far I've done:

Decent VRAM Gain:

Skyrim Realistic Overhaul

Skyrim HD 2k Textures

Serious HD (the old version)

TreesHD (4k version) - Checking this out in game now.

No VRAM Gain (already optimized):

Winter is Coming - Cloaks

How big was your SRO afterwards?  I installed SRO and SRO - Dawnguard as seperate mods, so the counts will be slightly off from the dirs and meta files:

Size: 4.89 GB (5,252,578,015 bytes)

Size on disk: 4.89 GB (5,252,578,015 bytes)

Contains: 1,465 files, 61 Folders

I ask as a sanity check for if I did it right.

Can i get a confirmation on which condition to delete in the recent update you did to GDO.

Expand "Dialog Topic">"0002707A" and select the "0002BDF1" node.

Right-click the condition regarding "Arcadia" in Guard Dialogue Overhaul.esp and select "Remove".

There are 2 conditions that mention Arcadia. The first one mentions it in the first column under Skyrim.esm. The second one in the third column under Guard Dialogue Overhaul.esp. They are both red so just wanted to confirm you only meant the second one?

Is there any real difference in leaving .bsas unpacked vs extracting them besides ease of changing their contents?

BSAs are always overridden by loose files and as such will not properly overwrite anything loose that came before it.

Correct.. NEVER EVER get rid of anything in Skyrim.esm ;) Let me say that again, NEVER EVER touch anything in Skyrim.esm.

2K Version (v1.6 + Dawnguard) Optimized:

   1,465 Files, 58 Folders

Not sure why you have more folders than I do but /shrug....

Alright, VRAM is getting a little more under control... still trying to find which mod is the biggest contributor to the outdoor VRAM usage. Vurts already optimized (I'm trusting him). ;)

Mods Opted so far:

SHD2K

SRO

SHD

TreesHD

Hitting 2800 regularly in the congested outdoor areas.

Edit:

Optimized the AV Packages.... good savings outdoors there! down to 2500 or so... nice!
