Would need advice with STEp:extended + assortment of other mods

Question

Posted

I have been obsessively "casually" trying to mod Skyrim for years now, but never seemed to get it working properly. So I have no idea how I've not discovered STEP guide until now, but since I have, I want to finally mod Skyrim to perfection. I'm very frustrated that it never worked until now, and I don't want to screw everything up again, since I've done the modding skyrim process about 6312 times now. And many days at a time, until I've given up Skyrim altogether.

This is why I've decided to ask here about some mods I'd like in the game, and any general advice you can give me with installing them - in terms of patches and compatibility. I plan to go STEP extended (all the mods listed in the main guide). And since it is too frustrating to make a little mistake and break your game, I beg for your advice regarding these mods, which seem to me the most risky:

-helgen reborn https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35841/?

-ultimate combat https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36006/?

-warzones https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9494/?
-perkus maximus https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59849/?

-better fast travel https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15508/?

-interesting npcshttps://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8429/?

-inconsequential npcshttps://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36334/?

-the people of skyrim - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72449/?

-expanded towns and cities - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13608/?

-apocalypse magic - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16225/?

-UFO - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14037/?

-climates of tamriel - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17802/?

-immersive creatures - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24913/?

Thank you thank you thank you

Just as a suggestion, Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited adds a few of those mods, and Darth Mathias' Skyrim Revisited Extended adds a few more.

You could certainly add them on top of STEP Extended, for sure. You might have to do some of your own Conflict Resolution though. Running the few that are not in one or both of the guides mentioned above may be a little easier as both of them provide some Conflict resolution steps for you to follow.

thanks! so instead od STEP extended I would install Neovalen's and Darth Mathias's guides?

they definitely seem a safer bet, since STEPex is missing a lot mods i'd like, and don't want to  risk incompatibilities :)

That's one way. Start with SRLE and get that installed, make sure you have that stable and all OK, and then add SRLEX and anything else you want on top.

I have SRLEX running with the NPC mods you mention above and it's fine. :)

Just realise it WILL be a bit of work, but if you're careful and read everything, you'll be sweet.

oh my god, you have no idea how happy I am to hear that! npc's really bring the game alive, and I would not imagine playing without them :D so you have all 3 npc mods? anything special I should know about them, besides the obvious compatibility patches (which sould be on the mod's page)?

I have Interesting and Inconsequential both going. (SRLEX uses other NPC enhancers aside from People of Skyrim. Though People of Skyrim IS a solid mod)

You'll need some patches, sure, do a Nexus search for them, cause they aren't ALWAYS on the mod's page, depending on who made them. The obvious ones are for RS Children, which I use. Those patches are on the RS Children patches page, for example.

Like you I wouldn't play without Interesting NPC's as it adds depth and a LOT more possible followers.
