  1. Ahhhh, NOW I get it. Thanks for the spoon-feed. I just need to make sure that Tobe's Highres Textures are highlighted in the left pane before going to Data in the right pane to hide them! Got it.
  2. So, both "barset" and "furniture" are to be hidden, NOT just Tobe's textures in each of those folder?
  3. Thank you, I understand the effect of hiding. I think it's a GREAT difference between Mod Organizer and NMM...at least I hadn't come across the "hide" ability in NMM. It's just that, in those two folders ("barset" and "furniture"), there are more than just Tobe's textures. For the other folders (e.g., clutter), it was specifically stated the Tobe's files to hide. But for these two folders, the instructions implied that the entire folders were to be hidden. Wait a minute. I think I understand: IF a MOD puts, for example, 10 textures into a folder, but you only instruct to delete 4 of them, then you'll list all four individually. BUT, if you instruct to delete all 10, then you imply that by only listing the folder. Of course, that logic assumes we STEP-MOD users are smart enough to realize this when you instruct that a complete folder, like "barset" and "furniture" be hidden. That is, you're SPECIFICALLY only talking about ALL of Tobe's textures contained in that folder. You're NOT talking about ALL of the textures in that folder, even if added by other MODs though...are you? Yes, I am using MO!! One more, related, question. IF we hide an entire texture folder now (e.g., "barset"), and some LATER mod that we install adds texture files to that "barset" folder, will that automatically unhide the hidden folder? Then, IF it does unhide it, wouldn't all those other textures automatically become unhidden as well, and potentially conflict with each other? Or isn't that how MO works, since MO stores all Mods separately? Clarification here, please. And, thanks again!
  4. The detailed instructions for Tobe's Hi-Res Textures state that several of the textures added by Tobe's Mod should be hidden. Okay, no problem. However, I'm a tad confused about two of the suggestions: File Tree: Hide the following files: Textures\clutter\barset\ Textures\furniture\ Am I supposed to hide the entire categories "barset" and "furniture"? OR, am I only supposed to hide the few Tobe's Hi-Res Textures contained in those two directories? There ARE other textures added by other mods in both of those two directories. Thanks! Allen The reason I ask is that all of the other instructions for hiding specify Tobe's textures individually.
  5. Ah, perfect. I had been downloading them manually, then having MO install them. But, you're correct, when I had MO download them, then had MO install them, this time it asked what I wanted to do with the second file, and I was able to merge them. Thank you!
  6. Detailed Instructions Available for Improved Closefaced Helmets state: "Download and install the "Improved Closefaced Helmets (Legendary Edition)" and the "Update - Male corundum Dragon Priest mask texture fix" update file. Merge when asked for installing the update file." I installed the Main File, I then installed the Update. I was not asked about Merging the two files. The installed files show separately in the left pane of MO, but only the Main File shows on the right pan of MO. So, does Mod Orgnizer "merge" an Update into the main file upon installation? Or did i install it incorrectly? Or am I supposed to merge pre-Install? Or is there a drop-down menu piece that's supposed to merge these two files? What'd I miss, as I'm sure this will come up again later. Thanks!
  7. Wonderful, thank you. I'll definitely be using "extended" S.T.E.P. then.
  8. Thank you, Thane. One Last Question. Either you or another Moderator, earlier stated that you were using S.T.E.P. Extended, instead of the S.T.E.P. that apparently I am now using. Where may I find that S.T.E.P. Extended approach, as it sound like just the ticket. Or is S.T.E.P. Extended something that I've just not yet gotten to in the S.T.E.P. load order? Honest, last question here!
  9. Ah, ok, thank you! Unless I hear otherwise, I'll assume that if it is a dummy, then it'll be safe to uncheck it in the right-hand column, as long as it's checked in the left-hand column.
  10. Yes, I know that 98% of the MODs added to Skyrim are only esp files. But, I know of at least 10 that I will be adding that have both a main ESM file and ESP file. That's why I asked the question.
  11. Using official STEP to reload Skyrim from scratch using Mod Organizer. STEP 2.D. Fixes. I'm now installing the fixes files. During the initial installations, in the right-hand pane of Mod Organizer, we did not check the HighResTexturePacks, because the esp files were stated to be dummies in the STEP instructions. How does one determine whether a specific esp file is a dummy, and therefore may remain unchecked and free-up one of the 256 available mod slots? I assume in the STEP instructions, IF there are any other "dummy" esp files, the instructions will remain to not check that esp in the right pane of MO. But, after completing STEP, and I begin loading other mods, is there any way to determine whether an esp file is a "dummy"? Or am I to assume that IF the MOD author included an esp file, then it's necessary for the mod? Thanks! Allen
  12. Sweet! Thank you. Seriously, where are you guys located? And, again, thank you all for all the help (i.e., you and the gang) have provided me already!
  13. What I mean about "continue from where I am" on is, in the STEP instructions, which I have now started, I have made the INI changes, and am up to the point of installing the STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures. Will I harm anything if I use MO to remove the Optimized Vanilla Textures - SD, Opt. Dawnguard Text. - SD, Opt. HearthFires Text. - SD, and Opt. Dragonborn Text. - SD, and then installing the Optional STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures - Standard Version? OR, do I really need to undo MO all the way back to the beginning, delete it, redownload MD, and start from scratch? And, since I decided to use at least one ENB (however they work), I've answered my question above, and set bFloatPointRenderTarget=1. Thank you for your time!! Allen JUST got your previous response. OK, I'll change bFloatPointRenderTarget=0, and proceed without ENB. Just let me know whether to continue on here (removing my vanilla's and installing yours) or redo MO from scratch (the ini's are all edited already). Thanks! P.S. Are you guys in Australia (i.e., 17 hours ahead of us {or subtract 7 and add a day})? It's 1:37p here in Vancouver, WA.
  14. Well, DRAT! I thought I WAS using "the" STEP version. Do you recommend I start over with the official STEP Guide? The reason I ask is that, having acquired all of the tools for Neovalen's SR:LE version, the one tool I'm having trouble understanding (and thus am unable to derive the load order he depicts, as I am not really sure how to apply to the HighResTexturePacks) is DDSopt. I was going to attempt it again this morning (it's 5:30a here on the left coast of the US) with fresh eyes to see if it made any more sense. Without those HRDLC01, 02, and 03 Optimized files, I'm not sure I should continue on with SR:LE, or wait for those three files to be loaded. I just looked over the official STEP guide. It seems to me that the best approach may be to continue from where I am, but switch from SR:LE to the beginning of the official STEP guide. Should that work? Or, do you recommend I restart completely vanilla and give this another shot? OR, should I try to continue muddling through with SR:LE? The only other question I have right now, if I continue using the official STEP guide, is: Under !.D.2. SkyrimPrefs.ini [Display], I intend to use at least one ENB (I don't know how those work, yet, but will find out). So, should I leave bFloatPointRenderTarget=0 as "0" for now, and then change it to "1" when I load an ENB? OR, knowing that I intend to add an ENB(s), should I change it to "1" at this time?
  15. P.S. I truly believe all of my confusion would have disappeared if the link in the STEP instructions: "or, alternatively, download and install the MO ready packages here.", which points to the Optimized Vanilla Structures here (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57353/?), had instead pointed to the STEP Skyrim Total Enhancement Project here (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11/?). Oh well, water under the proverbial damn! Allen
  16. I sincerely apologize to all concerned for having taken your time. I wholly misread the intent of STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures to mean ONLY Standard Definition files were addressed at that link from here: https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2#2.D._Fixes. I had not realized that it also includes the High Definition Files. I am downloading clean sets of both, now, and will probably need the Optional File "Step Optimized Vanilla Textures - Standard Version" as it covers "All vanilla DDSopt-imized textures (no resolution caps, compression and mip-map optimized) not covered by STEP mods. Dawnguard, Hearthfires, and Dragonborn required." I may be back, later, after having digested all above, as well as these new downloads. Enjoy your tea and crumpets!! And, again, thank you all! Allen
  17. Nope, I really tried, but am unsure exactly how to configure DDSOpt, based on the STEP instructions. They probably make a whole lot of sense to someone who does this for a living, but for me, I cannot figure out which directories are being used, nor which specific DDSOpt option configurations are to be used merely for making the three HRDLC Optimized files, let alone any I'll need to make later. Can someone help, or should I just bag this whole mess?
  18. DOES anyone have the HRDLC01 Optimized, HRDLC02 Optimized, and HRDLC03 Optimized files? They would be greatly appreciated for this non-programmer, non-IT person! Thank you!! Allen Otherwise, lookout DDSopt, here I come! Ugh!!
  19. I disagree. The "High Resolution Texture Pack" listed there is the file that's listed last on the STEP order I provided above. Unless I'm REALLY missing something, I do not see any links to any of the three HRDLC01, 02, and 03 Optimized Patches. I only see the STEP Optimized vanilla Textures, I WISH that the STEP Optimized High-Resolution Textures was the next listing on that table. Unfortunately, it's not. DRAT!!
  20. He DID provide a link for the Optimized Vanilla, Dawnguard, HearthFires, and Dragonborn Textures - SD. I used those from the link, rather than use DDSopt to create my own. However, I did not see a link to the HRDLC01, 02, and 03 files so that I could obtain those. IF I should have them, as the STEP order clearly shows, then I guess I'll try to figure out DDSopt to create my own...unless someone DOES have them for download? hint, hint. Ah, yes, I did not provide a link to the HotFix, I just mentioned at the end of that message where I'd found it. Sorry 'bout that, Chief. And I will now toss it, as I am using both STEP and MO.
  21. The HotFix, as I stated above, is found on the Optimized Vanilla Textures Nexus site: https://tinyurl.com/z4b84yn I'll try to address the apparent confusion. Yes, I am using STEP. Yes, I created Optimized Vanilla, Dawnguard, HearthFires, and Dragonborn Textures - SD. I was subsequently told, in these two discussion/help pages, to NOT optimize the Unmanaged HighResTexturePack 01, 02, and 03 files. BUT, in the STEP, it shows the following order (which is NOT what mine show, as I have NO optimized HD textures): Vanilla OptimizedDawnguardDawnguard OptimizedHearthFiresHearthfires OptimizedDragonbornDragonborn OptimizedUnofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition PatchHighResTexturePack01HRDLC1 OptimizedHighResTexturePack02HRDLC2 OptimizedHighResTexturePack03HRDLC3 OptimizedUnofficial High Resolution PatchNOTE the three HRDLC1, C2 and C3. This is the order I'm SUPPOSED to have, but I was told to not optimize the HighResTexturePack 01, 02, 03. SO, I tried to find them on the Internet, and that's where I found the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized Nexus page. So: 1. Am I or am I not supposed to have optimized the HighResTexturePack 01, 02, and 03 pages so that I have the HRDLC01, 02, 03 Mods, as shown in the STEP? OR, am I supposed to follow the guidance from Greg, at the top of this page? Do you understand my confusion?
  22. For SOME reason, the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized does NOT contain a Hi-Res Optimized VANILLA pack. I cannot find one of those. Just the three DLC Hi-Res Packs at that Bethesda Hi-Res Nexus site. So, is it safe to assume that I should use the Optimized Vanilla Textures - SD, Optimized Dawnguard Textures - HD, Optimized HearthFires Textures- HD, and Optimized Dragonborn Textures- HD ONLY? Then, do I still load the Unmanaged HighResTexturePacks 1, 2, and 3 after those?
  23. The files for the High Res stuff are from "Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized", located here: https://tinyurl.com/z56a2ee There's the Bethesda Hi-Res Optimized - Universal, Update Pack, and Unofficial High Resolution Patch - Compatible Version As you can see, I'm a tad confused as to which "optimized" files (SD or HD) and from which source I should be using! Allen I mean, whether I should use those packs or the ones located at "Optimized Vanilla Textures" or if I am supposed to be using a combination of both? It's the Optimized Vanilla Textures that have that HotFix file you asked about.
  24. Crap, I need to back up a step. I THOUGHT I had downloaded both the Optimized Vanilla Textures - SD and the Optimized HighResTexturePack 1, 2, and 3. My mistake. I now have Optimized Vanilla Textures - SD, Optimized Dawnguard Textures - SD, Optimized HearthFires Textures - SD, and Optimized Dragonborn Textures - SD. I ALSO have Optimized Dawnguard Texttures - HD, Optimized HearthFires Textures - HD, and Optimized Dragonborn Textures - HD. I THINK I should have only EITHER SD versions OR HD verstions, correct? OR, are the HD versions actually the HighResTexturePacks 1, 2, and 3, just renamed and optimized? IF NOT, where may I find the Optimized HighResTexturePacks 1, 2, and 3, since I was advised on this list, above, to NOT optimize the Unmanaged HighResTexturePack 1, 2, and 3 ESP files. Depending on the response, I'm sill going to need a response about the HotFix, above. Thank you! Allen
  25. A quickie this time. I downloaded the Optimized Vanilla Textures and the Optimized High-Resolution Textures. After I unzipped the master files, Mod Organizer installed the Texture Packs just fine. I installed them as bsa's, I did not unpack the bsa's. I then reordered them in the left pane of MO. There is also a HotFix download, for people who have Skyrim installed on a Drive (i.e., D:\) other than the Windows Drive (C:\), which is my case. When I attempt to use MO to install the HotFix, it says "No Game Data on Top Level". The HotFix contains two files: Textures Install.vbs and Textures Uninstall.vbs. Do I need to unpack the bsa's in order for the HotFix to be applied? OR, what do I need to do in MO to get these files installed correctly? OR, where do I need to physically move these two files? Thank you! Allen
