Extending S.T.E.P.: Extended - ENB and More
Pheyne replied to Pheyne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks. I can do without some of the mods there of course. I don't really need 4K ivy textures... But some of the mods, especially the weather mods and mods that add/modify weapons/armors/creatures, are something I would really like to have. I just don't want to mess it up since the game is running flawlessly right now. -
I have finished installing S.T.E.P.: Extended. It is now complete exactly according to the guide provided by S.T.E.P. The game runs perfectly without any issues. However, I would now like to continue with some more modding and I've run into some things I am not sure about. I want everything to work as intented so I decided to ask for some advice from the experienced modders I'll start with the S.T.E.P. Compilation. I do not know what are all the things this mod pack does, apart from installing all the listed mods in the description, and thus want make some things clear. S.T.E.P., in the 2-D section, contains these two lightning mods: Enhanced Lightning for ENB - Lite (Interior Lighning) and Relighting Skyrim (No JIT) in this load order - RS is loaded after ELE. Now one thing I definitely want is good ENB preset. I have my favourite ones and as far as compatibility goes, they both say the same: All ENB presets are compatible with ELFX (interiors only), Relighting Skyrim, and More Dynamic Shadows. ELE - Interion Lightning is optional, and presets are compatible. The ELE - Interior Lighting module(s) should be used in conjunction with ELFX (interiors only, without the enhancer), Relighting Skyrim, More Dynamic Shadows, and RLO (interiors only). Choose one, and load the ELE - Interior Lighting module(s) last in your load order!!! We already have the second part sorted since we would be using ELE in conjunction with RS, but the load orded is different than in S.T.E.P. Here, the two mods are swaped. My question is, how should I proceed.. Especially since both ELE and RS in S.T.E.P. contain the custom Meta Rules that specify their priority. Another thing related to ENB... Before I install it, I would like to tweak my audiovisual side of the game a little bit more. The water mod used in S.T.E.P. is RWT. What would I need to do, if I wanted to replace this with W.A.T.E.R? Is it enought to just uninstall RWT, install W.A.T.E.R as a part of The Ruffled Feather mod and then just put it at the RWT spot in the load order? Also, The Ruffled Feather is already installed as a part of S.T.E.P with the custom install option "Install for S.T.E.P." which doesn't include W.A.T.E.R. Would installing it with W.A.T.E.R. mess with S.T.E.P. Compilation or anything else included? How about waterfalls now? I'd like to go with Pure Waters - Waterfalls but they are not compatible with SkyMills and SkyFalls. But, from what I understand, I should be pretty much safe to disable SkyMills and SkyFalls since I've got DynDOLOD installed which does all its job for it, right? (Apart from the windmill sails, which are no big deal.) The same thing with weather systems... I want CoT 3.1, Supreme Storms, CoT Weather Patch and True Storms. Where do I place them in the load order and are there any other specific instructions to get all of this working properly together? (Wonders of Weather shouldn't interfere, should it?) Next I have a general question.. If I install a mod that has no conflicts, should I worry at all about it's placements or is it then completely arbitrary? Same applies to mods that have intended conflicts. Let's say I now want to install Immersive Animations. This mod needs to be placed before XP32 Maximum Skeleton, other than that it should not conflict with anything in S.T.E.P. Do I just place it before XPMS and done? Providing I sort all the plugins with LOOT and run the Dual Sheat Redux patch afterwards of course... I will list all the extra mods I would like to use alongside complete S.T.E.P. here. I will be greatfull for all the tips. Whether is is where to put these mods, if some require special attention or if something seems seems like a bad idea to even begin with :) CoT 3.1 Supreme Storms CoT Weather Patch True Storms Natural Grass Texture Floor Verdant - A Skyrim Grass Plugin W.A.T.E.R Pure Waters - Waterfalls Lorkhans Vision - Night Sky V2 Moon Glow Mornig Fogs Refined Real_Snow_Flakes Skygazer - Constellation HD 2K SNOW DYNAVISION Better Fast Travel - Carruages and Ships - Overhauled Fast Travel Timescale Fix Dungeon Quest Awareness YOT - Your Own Thoughts Same Walk and Run Speed No More Glowing Edges Mod VioLens Animations Immersive Animations Run Sprint and Jump Badass Dual Wielding Better Torches Fences of Skyrim Immersive Fallen Trees Cloaks of Skyrim Winter is Coming - Cloaks Immersive Creatures (is it safe to reinstall Enhanced Blood Textures with IC compatibility?) Immersive Weapons Immersive Armors aMidianBorn Textures for Immersive Armors Left Hand Rings Skyrim Immersive Creatures Deadly Dragons Immersive Roads RUGNAROK High Definition Ivy Can I for example reinstall Dual Sheat Redux with the sword on back option so I can use it with Dual Wielding? In S.T.E.P. guide, it is without it. Would I need to reinstall DynDOLOD after installing any of these mods? And what about S.T.E.P. Compilation, I should probably reinstall that at the end as well, shouldn't I? Thank you all. I've moved this to the General area as this has moved past a discussion of how MO is used with the STEP guide.

Since I already opened this topic, I don't want to start another one so I will ask this question here. I am trying to optimize my settings and I cannot get the Edge-AA working. I don't think there are any mistakes in my INI and NVIDIA settings but whenever I try to activate Edge-AA using the ENB overlay ingame, nothing happens. And I imagine the change should be quite significant acording to my experience with this AA. Here are my NVIDIA settings. By the way, how do NVIDIA Inspectro and NVIDIA Control Panel work together? Do they update each other or does one have a priority? https://i.imgur.com/9VvVX4U.png And here are my INI settings: skyrimprefs.ini [imagespace] bDoDepthOfField=1 iRadialBlurLevel=1 [Display]bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 iMaxAnisotropy=0 iMultiSample=0bDeferredShadows=1 enblocal.ini [ANTIALIASING]EnableEdgeAA=true EnableTemporalAA=false EnableSubPixelAA=false [ENGINE] ForceAnisotropicFiltering=true MaxAnisotropy=16 ForceLodBias=false LodBias=0.0 AddDisplaySuperSamplingResolutions=false Is there anything else that could possibly have an effect on Edge-AA not wanting to activate? Other than Skyrim Launcher settings where I have all Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering and FXXA turned off.

SKYRIMLE Realistic Water Two - Reflection Glitch
Pheyne replied to Pheyne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I completely understand that TechAngel and I am most certainly not expecting the game to be perfect. It was just one thing that caught my eye and I wanted to know if it was the game's fault or if there was a mistake in my settings. Especially because the vanilla reflections looked fine.- 11 replies

Tried that Kesta, it was better, but then I installed ProjectENB and I am not looking back. With RLO it looks fantastic. So my ENB hunt is done, now I am hunting for some tweaks to at least reduce the god damn shimmering. Is it a bad idea forcing LodBias on with an ENB preset? I don't even know if it will help, it was just one of my ideas what could..

SKYRIMLE Realistic Water Two - Reflection Glitch
Pheyne replied to Pheyne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yes, you probably won't see it on your phone. It's not just that spot, it happens almost everywhere around the eges. It looks kind of pixelated (especially when I set the iWaterReflecHeight/Width to 2K). It's definitely not 'aligned' with the rest of the reflexions farther away from the edge. Here, this might be better ilustration... Does that happen to everyone with with RWT or other water mods? Is this normal behaviour and why is it not happening to the vanilla water? - sorry for the double.. accident :/- 11 replies

SKYRIMLE Realistic Water Two - Reflection Glitch
Pheyne replied to Pheyne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I am using the main RWT file along with the RWT - ENB Textures optional file and the 'Watercolor for ENB and Realistic Water Two' mod along with ProjectENB :)- 11 replies

Yes, I was surprised myself what is that even doing there but that was the error game gave me. But yes, when you download ProjectENB, dxgi.dll is in the main folder. Isn't it required for SweetFX or something like that?

Could I even play the game if I didn't? Well.. turns out I was right, it did come with the ENB preset - ProjectENB. Just sitting there in the main folder.

SKYRIMLE Realistic Water Two - Reflection Glitch
Pheyne posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hello, having some problems with water reflections. I have narrowed down the problem and found out, it is being caused by Realistic Water Two. I have tried reinstalling the mod but didn't help. It probably isn't caused by other mod(s) either as it was present even when I loaded just the essentials and RWT. Without the mod, everything seems fine. https://imgur.com/a/LOX3O Here are two screenshots, first one with RWT, second one without it. The glitch can be seen roughly in the middle of the screen, slightly to the left, just by the other shore. Along the edge, wheter the water starts, it is not reflecting properly. The only interesting thing active in the second screenshot is ProjectENB but even if I disable the effects with Shift + F12, the glitch there. Also, whats up with DynDOLOD messing with those rocks on the other side in the first picture? Edit: after installing Pure Waters the glitch happens as well, so it is not RWT specific. However, with vanilla water everything is fine.- 11 replies

No, I am not referring to that but you are right, there is no dxgi.dll file in the ENB preset. After launching the game with ProjectENB I got an error "The procedure entry point CreateDXGIFactory2 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\d3d11.dII". The "createDXGIFactory2" is not located in d3d11.dll but in dxgi.dll file which was already in Skyrim folder (I thought it came with ENB). The same file, only 64-bit version, can be found in Windows - system32, I replaced it and everything works as intended. My question was whether or not I was doing something that could cause issues.
-
I have one more question regarding ENBs. When I download one, it usually comes with enblocal and enbseries INI files. I use those but when I start the game and check them later, it modifies them (adds lines that weren't there before). I just want to make sure that those are the default values that were intentionally left out by the ENB creators because it loads them automatically and not something I should try to prevent from happening by setting those files to read only or something like that. Also, the dxgi.dll file that comes with the ENB.. is there any difference between using this one and the one from the system32 folder? Thanks.

Hmm, so you are gonna give up ELE completely as RLO is not compatible? ELE is definitely nice in how much ENB options it gives you to edit. Is there something simillar in RLO? Never really used it much. But yes, I wasn't being serious about RLO... I agree that in some aspects it can be even better than ELFX. Might not be my overall favourite but it definitely can compete. As for the flickering.. Am I correct to assume it has a lot to do with Lod Bias? If it is the case forcing it higher than 0 should make it better, shouldn't it? If you want to use an ENB you need to set it to 0, but then again ENB's implement their own multisampling so that should do that instead, right?
-
So it is an ENBoost thing? Any specific settings that can help it? By the way, here is a quick video of Vivid ENB.. Is it really supposed to look like this? Those are all default settings and I mean.. the exteriors are honestly prettier without it. Skip the loading scree, I thought the flickering could be noticable, but it is not with this quality. Is there something else in my mod list that makes it look so bad? It's almost as if I downloaded some different ENB than the one I've spent half an hour watching videos of it.
-
I would reconcider the whole RLO thing ELFX is far ahead in my opinion, for me it's just the combination with the different ENB's that is, as you say, not 100% satisfying. I am probably gonna try it with the ProjectENB and see for myself. In the meantime, I know it's not really ENB related but, since I have installed the S.T.E.P.:Extended I've been experiencing some weird texture flickering. And it is triggering me more and more. It looks something like this, just a little more subtle: I've looked everywhere but haven't found anything specific. Any ideas what might be causing this or how to get rid off it? Even though it's not so noticable ingame, I would still like to see it go, if possible. These loading screen models are probably the most obvious examples. And anybody can help with my last question about the plugins being sorted automatically from my previsou post? Thanks
-
Not using the Enhancer and as for the ProjectENB not working properly on W10.. I think it has something to do with SweetFX not being fully compatible with it. Might be just for some people though. RS? I like ELFX the most because of how it handles the shadows and lights in interiors and dungeons. Nothing else I've seen was on the same level. I'll probably mess around with the setting and see what I can do. It's just that when I compare the result with the videos showcasing the ENB, it looks like a different ENB entirely. And just one more thing.. What is the reason my CoT and Lanterns of Tamriel mods got put into the "bold font" mods at the begining of the plugins in MO along with official and unofficial patches? What if I needet to move one of the plugins somewhere lower in the list?

Hello, I've spend quite some time modding my Skyrim, trying to make everything perfect and I feel like I am slowly getting there. However I've now encountered a problem I need a little help with. My game now contains more than 200 mods. Most of it is the S.T.E.P.: Extended, where I have done everything how it should be done (mostly thanks to your brilliant guides and tips), with some optional minor tweaks here and there. Anyway, I got the game to the point where I felt it was almost complete. The DynDOLOD was sucesfully installed and activated and the only thing I was missing was an ENB. I've spend quite some time researching, browsing through all ENB's possible until I have picked my all time favorites. Those were the ProjectENB and Vivid Vividian ENB. In the end, I have diceded to stick with the latter. Mainy because of the Weather and Lightning pack (https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Weather_and_Lighting) which nicely follows up on the S.T.E.P.: Extended and contains this ENB. I've also read that ProjectENB has some problems with Windows 10 and is perhaps a little bit more performance heavy. I followed the Weather and Lightning pack from the S.T.E.P. guide and installed almost everything the pack contains. I've been planning on using those mods myself and here they were all together and even with some tips. I did not install everything from it though (I left out mods such as Falskarr, Wyrmstooth, WAO, Pure Weather...). My goal was to have Climates of Tamriel, ELFX and the ENB, which were all part of this. Now I am finished but some mistake must have happened along the installation process. My main reason why I opted for this ENB with ELFX was how realistic everything was. No oversaturated exteriors, beautiful dark interiors and dungeons... That is not the result however. My game looks ridiculously bright, oversaturated, with too many reds and yellows. I really doubt this is the correct default look. I would need hours of fiddling with all the ENB settings ingame to make it look anywhere near like in the videos. I took some screenshots to illustrate the problem, sorry for the quality but you should get the point. They are taken with the same mods installed, only difference being the ENB turned on and off. That means mods like CoT, ELFX, ELE are all there.. https://imgur.com/kriYX7R https://imgur.com/XwQumzp https://imgur.com/CceG79u https://imgur.com/lKj4Ync Looking at these screenshots the colours are a little desaturated. For example the desk in the last picture is actually almost fully red. Here it still look brown-ish. Another thing I would like to know is, what is the main cause of long loading times that just started happening. It is nothing unbearable, but before the last few steps of installing CoT, ELFX, ENB etc.. it was much much better, almost instant. Is it just the ENB? Even so it is a little strange considering my performance ingame remains pretty much the same and I stay at 60fps most of the time. Thank you and have a nice day.

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Pheyne replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
How about when installing more weather altering mods along with some textures and an ENB. Is it still okay to work with DynDOLOD from before that? Isn't there perhaps some rule such as nothing should ever ovewrite the DynDOLOD/DynDOLOD Output in the left pane of MO?
