  1. So are you saying you do or don't need to check BBP on the skeleton? Is there a way using SSEEdit or something to keep it from changing Ralof's armor? Aside from hiding his ropes, it's just really immersion-breaking for me.
  2. Oops, I just had that saved as a draft, closed my browser, and it auto-posted it and won't let me edit it. Apologies for any typos... About the Opening Scene Overhaul, they have instructions on the page for using it with LAL, and they aren't kidding when they say it needs to be at the bottom of your load order. I had the NPC Retexture Merge at the bottom and even putting it above that made it not work right. Putting it below, I got the dark-face bug. For now, I just turned off all of the NPC retextures. I still haven't figured out what I did last time to get them to play nicely so Hadvar doesn't have a pornstache anyway. (But I haven't completed the build either, I just remembered this and was really excited to try it out!) Oh, and the note on the mod page about turning off Helgen Reborn, I haven't had any problems with it for the vanilla start, I'm pretty sure the author fixed that bug by delaying the start of that until you want to start it. (Just, you know, I wouldn't start it when you're in Helgen...) I'm REALLY enjoying this, I've seen that opening scene it feels like hundreds of times over the years, it's so refreshing to have something new! (Even if the voice changes are going to take a bit of getting used to... Add one more to the guys who all sound like Belethor. I keep hoping someone is going to come out with a mod that revoices all of the main NPCs. Like Stenvar has his own custom AI package but still uses one of the default voices.)
  3. That's odd, I wonder why it's changing location for one of us. This is a new save on a new MO2 profile, even. Have you done all of the Smash, etc. steps all the way through to the end? That's the only thing I can think of that may be different. I didn't do them before because I kept changing mods, and I haven't gotten to that this time since I'm going by sections. Here's my latest list of questions, issues, etc, I've run into as I'm going through this build again. (Why did I just hear a sarcastic "Oh, yea" in my head? LOL) LOOT is reporting that MoonAndStar_MAS.esp has 1 ITM record and needs to be cleaned. Is there a reason we shouldn't do that? On the XP32 Maximum Skeleton, why are we selecting "Skeleton Rig Map (HTD)" instead of BBP? For the 360 Walk and Run Plus (which, come to think of it, I don't think I ever noticed working), we're selecting BBP enabled. Not a question but a recommendation, because it's an option in the install for XP32. I HIGHLY recommend The Joy of Perspective. It's nice to look down and see a body. When running FNIS (which you need to do after the Animations and Skeleton section if you're testing as you go), the instructions on the "Finishing Line" page only say to select "SKELETON Arm Fix." Selecting "GENDER Specific Animations" seems like a good idea since we're installing some player animation mods (and it generates 17 male and 17 female modifications when I do this). I also select "HKX File Compatibility Check," which from the mod page, just sounds like a good idea. I've never had any animation problems when selecting these before when testing this build. Is there any known reason we shouldn't? Frankly HD Stormcloak and City Guards causes Ralof's clothing to clip through his arms on the vanilla start. (Haven't yet found the mod which replaces his armor with non-Stormcloak-looking armor that has gauntlets that look like Wolverine claws and completely hide the ropes tying his hands.)And just as an aside, this came up last night on recommended videos on youtube: Opening Scene Overhaul. Here's a review by Brodual and here's a complete play-through for the Imperial side. (There's also one for the Stormcloaks, although it isn't as complete from what I remember, and I've been playing the vanilla start over and over and over during testing and practically have the Imperial side memorized.) Given that the character I'm restarting when I get this all working again needs to use the vanilla start to fit her backstory, I'm really excited about this! (Although the alternate Hadvar voice is going to take some getting used to.) The extra stuff it adds is seriously cool! (If you want to use it, I recommend not watching either of the play-throughs and just be surprised.)
  4. They really need a longer edit timer on these posts. Just confirmed that it's Immersive Patrols causing the bizarre fight at Sleeping Tree Camp, repeatable just like before. Approach the area from the south, go east around the rocks so you end up heading west toward the lake. It does NOT happen if you go west around the rocks and head east toward the lake. However if you go back the way you came and then approach from the east, they're suddenly there. I haven't tried it approaching from the north, but I think this is enough to confirm the bug. I tested by COCing to one of the cells, then running around until I was facing the rocks south of the camp, then saving my game and testing with and without Immersive Patrols. (At least they're wearing clothing so far...)
  5. I knew there was a reason my character never ate those. o.O (Really funny is that I can eat my body weight in sushi and have never had problems. The ONE time I got food poisoning was fried clams. Or... fried human flesh?) Someone remind me which mod is adding new creatures like the rhino and such. It's not compatible with Hunterborn (even using taxonomy) and I want to make sure I didn't miss a patch.
  6. Idiot check suggestion: When editing the skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini, I'd mention to be sure to do it within MO2 using the button dropdown, on the LotD profile. Also, "Due to the heavily modded nature of this guide it is advised to have auto saves turned off." I have all of the given settings, but at least before still autosaved every 15m. Is that intentional? (It's never caused problems a for me, it's actually saved me a couple of times, but that makes it sound best to turn autosaves completely off.) Also, a suggestion for skyrim.ini: [Camera] fMouseWheelZoomSpeed=0.1000 fMouseWheelZoomIncrement=0.0001 Obviously depends on taste, but I like much more control over my zooming. I'm fine to leave it if the Creation Kit doesn't get upset. I've spent all the time since I upgraded my computer modding SSE, not even REALLY playing yet. I'm nowhere near the point of wanting to remind myself how to make mods to see how the CK behaves.
  7. Another question as I'm going through the prereqs. (Wow, I just assumed a lot here.) When the Creation Kit unzipped its files, I ended up with Data/Source/Scripts/ and Data/DialogueViews/. I remember thinking at the time that the first looked wrong, but I figured that would be mentioned if it was. But I just got to the SKSE Scripts part, and it has Scripts/Source in the file tree. Do I need to reverse the directory names that the Creation Kit gave me to Data/Scripts/Source/? (At least I assume it was the Creation Kit. Whatever left the Scripts.zip in the Data directory.) There's nothing in this Source directory but the Scripts folder actually, maybe just move it up and get rid of that Source directory? Or is it supposed to be this way? Edit: (Trying to stop spamming with so many posts), I've been running this windowed, borderless instead of as instructed by the guide. Are there any real problems with that? I often alt-tab out of the game and I find that not running it in a borderless window can cause problems. (I seem to remember there was a mod dealing with this for SLE. Double cursors or something?)
  8. So your character was going off in a weird direction too? Funny how that happens. Ah, the perils of RP. Oh, and IDK if it matters, but I approached the camp from the south. I started that particular game somewhere north of Helgen near whatever the **** the Inn of Lost Souls is.
  9. That's definitely the logical option, however as I've mentioned, I live in the sticks, and my internet speed reflects that. I think it took me almost a day to install it originally? But it's clean enough now that I should be able to delete and redo any leftovers that are there. I deleted pretty much everything in the main SSE directory, and everything but the bsa files and subdirectories in the Data folder, and then let Steam fix it. So I think all that's left that wasn't there originally are the extracted scripts from the Creation Kit. Oops, forgot to go to Helgen to look for naked Imperials. Oh well. You can blame me and my wall-o-text posts. ;-)
  10. Never mind about my request to see what a clean directory looks like. I just deleted pretty much everything that wasn't huge and let Steam take care of it. Now, back to the beginning. *twitch*
  11. Correction, I drink Guinness. ;-) And occasionally other Irish beer. Most everyone out here in the sticks drinks Bud and calls me a beer snob, but when the local place started occasionally carrying it, then my husband became friends with someone who worked there and they started carrying it and other actual good beer regularly, I KNOW I'm not the only one causing them to be sold out so often. I've apparently brought some beer culture to the wilds of north central Florida. LOL I just got a new video card, too. Well, my old system's motherboard died, so I ended up with a new motherboard, processor, memory, video card, everything. So what is my first thought on finally being able to quit using a laptop that's old enough to have a driver's license now and could only run maybe two programs at a time? A quick blip about how work will be easier again and then "OMG, I HAVE TO see how Skyrim runs on this!" And then I don't even try it vanilla before looking for a STEP guide and finding this. Obviously I'm a masochist. It started happening right after I did a bunch of upgrades as per your changelog, but I also upgraded a couple of things that weren't mentioned, so it's very possible there's a conflict and there's a good reason you hadn't updated. (I can't remember which ones or if any would seem to conflict, though as I go back through I'm sure I'll notice.) The only other thing is that I'd installed Campfire and Frostfall. Maybe the Imperials are getting overheated? LOL Seriously, this time when I go through, I'm going to keep (most) everything I added disabled and, well, at least make sure the Imperials are properly clothed. I added a few extra mods that I want, but there are only a small number that I really feel l NEED (like Take Notes, Racemenu, and a couple others that shouldn't conflict or cause CTDs), so I'm fine to play for a while without. I keep telling you guys, Guinness goes really well with this build. I think it should be added as a recommendation to the guide. ;-) Hey there! :-) I have ..\common\Mod Organizer 2 SSE\ and haven't had any problems with that setup so far. I'm just surprised how many problems I was having with the Prereqs page yesterday. Not only have I done this before, both now and in the past with STEP for SLE, I'm a programmer, the process isn't complicated, and the instructions are very clear. (Aside from the questions I asked yesterday - maybe add an idiot check about what exactly "extract into" details as far as what ends up where, since sometimes you're creating a new directory and sometimes you're pulling stuff from subdirectories?). I recharged with Guinness last night and my caffeine levels are high today, so I think I'm just going to get rid of everything and start over. (Except MO2 because everything is installed, even if I decide to reinstall mods that don't have a huge list of instructions following, and I do NOT want to delete that profile and have to reorder those mods!) It should also help that I'm in a good mood today, thus my frustration meter is currently low and I should at least be able to get through the prereqs and a couple of sections. Anyone have a link to what a clean SSE directory looks like? Other than making sure I have the cleaned ESMs saved, I'd like to move EVERYTHING out and then have Steam give me a completely fresh install. (I guess I could just delete everything that wouldn't take half a day to download...) Oh, one last thing, I am going to start a new character before reinstalling and make that long trek to Helgen again and see if the Imperials there are naked, just to see if this is related to something I did recently rather than something triggered by something that happened in my save. Can someone visit Sleeping Tree Camp and see if they have the same issue I did where there are a bunch of Imperials there (dressed or not) when you approach the camp from one direction but not the other? That is THE most bizarre bug I've seen and I'm really curious if it's some seriously bizarre mod conflict I caused or that's being caused by something else. While I have sometimes found things using the search, I just as often haven't, and searching occasionally causes the program to hang... So yeah, I don't tend to rely on searching, which definitely leads to a lot of manual search frustration.
  12. It sounds like I did the one right, there was a .pas and a subdirectory and I put both of those into Edit Scripts. And no, I haven't tried it. I JUST got a huge upgrade and was really wanting to try SSE. I was looking up the S.T.E.P. guide for it and found this one. And so far, I love it, even with the quirks, even realizing I haven't set up all of the mods because their setup involves powers (or going into a house in Riverwood) instead of the MCM menu. And I may try it without the ENB stuff. I never used one before, and this one just seems to cause weirdness. Well, it seems like my problem was that I somehow deleted the Skyrim .exe files. Yeah, that would do it. Wrye Bash is working right now. Sigh. DEFINITELY quitting for the night. I obviously was never in a condition to start this in the first place. I have "a" Guinness here, but due to a miscommunication with my husband, I have one left from this 4-pack, and two untouched 4-packs in the fridge. I make no promises.
  13. Ok, cool. What about the script directories? Did I get that right? And yeah, I'm about ready to stop for the night. At least once I figure out how I screwed up Wrye Bash so that it can't find SSE any more. I did reinstall it because it was a newer version, but not Loot, so all the settings should be there. It's telling me I need the -o parameter, but I can't seem to pick something it likes. And if I'd done this before, you'd think the setting would still be there... (Although I seem to remember setting the -o parameter for a couple of things, but they aren't there now. Yeah, definitely time I stop and drink heavily.)
  14. I'm just going to get some of the stupid questions out of the way right at the start, going through the Prereqs page again. Misunderstanding something here could have been the beginning of my problems. One example, Wrye Bash, "Manually extract and install to the main Skyrim Special Edition directory." When I extract, I end up with a directory called "Wrye Bash" in my SSE directory. That's correct, right? I'm not supposed to be copying the CONTENTS of that into the main SSE directory? (Similar for a couple other tools.) And one I just ran into, "The Great Equalizer - Lexy Special Edition." Both it and "MXPF - Mator's xEdit Patching Framework" say to "Download MANUALLY and install into Edit scripts folder in SSEEdit." MXPF had an Edit Scripts directory in the zip, so I installed just the contents of that directory into the Edit Scripts directory in SSEEdit, ignoring the Documentation and ESPs folders. The Great Equalizer doesn't have that directory, so what do I put into the Edit Scripts folder? The first subdirectory containing The Great Equalizer and The Great Equalizer.pas?
  15. I followed the S.T.E.P. guide for SLE and actually still have that installed, although that was a few years ago and obviously pretty much every mod on there is out of date. As I'm trying to talk myself into this, I keep thinking that support for SSE is only going to get better, it's 64-bit so it's more stable, it's starting out prettier so the mods we're adding just adds to that, if I stop playing again for a while, SLE is going to be even more out of date, making updating all those mods now even more wasted time. If I really think about it, I do have my reasons. It's just been a hella frustrating day and realizing that I really want to redo this is both a bit exciting and just makes me want to quit modding completely until a couple more years when the dust has settled. (Argument: Start this on a less frustrating day. Counter: If I wasn't doing this I'd be sitting on the couch mindlessly surfing Youtube or Netflix and thinking more about how the universe has been *****-smacking me lately.) I guess another excuse, my character hasn't been developing like I want her to (I've mentioned that heavily RPed characters take on a life of their own) so if I'm going to restart the game, I might as well do it with a clean build since I've started having so much weirdness the past couple of days.
  16. Ok, so I'm about to go through and redo my ENTIRE build to see what could be causing naked Imperials, and whatever the hell is going on in the giant camp where I only get all of the naked Imperials if I approach from one direction, and what could be causing the sudden CTDs I'm getting. (Although I suspect that is mostly related to me insisting on trying to get parts of Unpaused Game Menus to work, though it worked for quite a while with no CTDs.) But there have been a lot of changes, and it's very very possible I missed something important, either in the instructions themselves, or in the couple of custom patches I insisted on doing. Or most likely, in the recent upgrades. This started after I got caught up with the changelog. So... question. And PLEASE don't take this as any kind of criticism of the SE guide, it's incredible! But can someone give me moral support for using this rather than the SLE version? Waiting for ports, those ports being buggy or missing features, having to find alternatives for some of my previous favorite mods... I really want to keep using this and I know support will eventually be there (or better mods will be created) but even having everything downloaded, this is going to be a pain, and I really really need some moral support for taking this on again rather than going back to SLE and stable mods that I played with for years. I am learning a lot about mods and load order and patching and such. Right now, that's definitely one on the plus side! EDIT: And yes, I see the HUGE note that it's in beta and for experienced modders. That goes with the above that I'm learning things and like that. Again, I seriously mean no insult by this, I think more than the guide, I may be asking more for motivation to stick with SSE.
  17. Hey, I sold those that I got from the Bandit camp to the Khajiit, not the Imperials! Maybe they got tired of it being pointed out that they aren't wearing trousers, so they decided to go full frontal? This is a recent problem for me, so I can only think it's either caused by an upgrade or something I did wrong. Why does that sound like an Orc drink?
  18. LOL. I think it's mostly the way they kind of... jiggle around a bit after... LOL (And I really don't think that's right for Khajiit...) Mostly my reluctance just serves to keep me from looting everyone I kill because I started with a realistic carry weight of 100. So it makes me question a bit more if it's really worth having to stare at floppy bandits for some near-worthless fur armor. (Really, though, I'm the one wandering around in front of Faendal wearing those covers-nothing rags I looted off a dead female Draugr. I have no shame. (And crap, still haven't warned Gopher about the not-pants thing!)) Edit: I do really need to figure out the naked Imperial thing, though. I keep finding naked dead ones carrying full armor and that raises SO many questions. May start a new game tomorrow to see if it happens at Helgen right from the start or if I've somehow turned this into my "party - woo-hoo!" save.
  19. Only if I can figure out how to get Hadvar to be my follower. BTW, is it just me, or with these nude skins, does anyone else feel a bit reluctant to loot armor now?
  20. So it turns out that all of the random Imperials I'm finding are naked. What do I need to reinstall/redo that might fix this? (Why is it that all my problems seem to relate to skin color or nudity? LOL)
  21. Sorry, I tried editing again and it wouldn't let me. One more serious oddity. I'm approaching the camp from the north, and had been coming around the rocks and approaching it from the west. When I reloaded (for the 4-5th time), I went the other way and approached from the east, and all was normal, just a giant and his mammoth! I looked all around to be sure, then ran BACK around to approach from the west as I had before. All of the naked Imperials were there again. Running back around yet AGAIN, the Imperials are dead, but no more are coming, and the giant and mammoth are acting completely normal. It was weird enough before, but this makes me think I'm hitting some kind of bizarre, misplaced, and really screwed up event trigger...?
  22. So I started my game up and went back to Sleeping Tree Camp. This time there were only (thus far) three Imperials, all naked (except for helmets and capes), one still alive. Everyone is ignoring me even when I walk right up to them, and no one is moving except for slight idle animations. (Note, taken from a bit of a distance, but technically there's nudity there. Also, it's my Re-Engaged ENB causing the colorful, glowing mammoths. I really need to figure out what's up with that.) https://www.ocdcoder.org/skyrim/sleeping-tree-party01.jpg Just after I took that screenshot, a Stormcloak teleported in. He didn't just appear, it actually looked like he appeared from a small ball of light. He's not even in attack mode, although he did declare to all that "Skyrim is for the Nords." (However he wasn't there last night, it was all Imperials unless he was behind a mammoth where I couldn't see him.) https://www.ocdcoder.org/skyrim/sleeping-tree-party02.jpg This about sums up my feelings about all of this: https://www.ocdcoder.org/skyrim/sleeping-tree-giant.jpg Going by IDs, it doesn't look like they were added by a mod, they seem to be standard NPCs. Seriously, what the...? Edit: Ok, as I went to leave, I found another Stormcloak behind one of the rocks with his weapon out, dressed, and a female named Stormcloak Leader, naked, ran up to the water. She didn't go in the water, but had her weapon drawn and was kind of just running around the shore. A bit farther away were 2-3 more Stormcloaks (dressed), randomly sheathing and unsheathing their weapons. I finally ran a safe distance and shot an arrow at the Stormcloak in the water, which caused him to attack the naked Imperial, the female ran over and attacked Faendal instead, and suddenly another giant came running in from nowhere wearing a huge iron helmet and killed everyone. (Me included. Weeeeeee!)
  23. I have Murphy's when I can find it. Unfortunately I live in the sticks, so I'm lucky to get Guinness. (And really, I've been an unofficial spokesperson for Guinness for about 20 years now.) These were male and female Imperial soldiers. I didn't save my game after that, so when I start again, I'll go over and see if I can figure out what mod put them out there (maybe Immersive Patrols?), in the middle of nowhere, immersively yelling "Skyrim is for the Nords!" at a Mammoth that honestly didn't even seem like it was interested in the fight. Its giant finally came wandering over and just stood there and stared with what I'm pretty sure is the same look I had on my face until one of the nudists attacked it. I have no idea how Faendal ended up dead/undead in the middle of all of that. There were about 8-9 soldiers involved by the time I saw the last two sneaking in, honestly it seemed more like, well, a nude version of one of those random civil war battles that some mod I've heard of adds to random places than just a patrol. I don't think we were anywhere near a road, and most patrols I see are 3-4 people. Clothed people. My character: On second thought, perhaps I'll not stay in the Whiterun area. 'Tis a silly place. (I blame the Khajiit drug dealer that I assume Jobs in Skyrim put right behind Belethor's. I'm thinking he may also be the one who buys all the sisters that Belethor manages to get.)

  25. So... I'm not sure what just happened in my game, but I ran across a group of Imperials, all but one of them nude (but verified Imperial by checking inventory of the dead ones), fighting a mammoth at Sleeping Tree Camp and yelling "Skyrim belongs to the Nords!" Deciding I didn't want any part of whatever that was, I snuck away couldn't find Faendal, sheathed and unsheathed my weapon, and he appeared dead, right under my feet, covered in blood and with a bandage across his face... I ran a little farther away, saw two more naked Imperials heading toward the fight, sheathed and unsheathed my weapon again, and Faendal appeared right behind me, perfectly healthy, no bandages. I decided it was time to quit playing for the evening and go have a bit more of that Skooma I have stashed in the fridge. I mean Guinness. Did I say Skooma? Hahahaha no, I meant Guinness!
