  1. I was under the assumption that the way to go was 2k textures with 1k normals for optimum performance and visuals while avoiding the 3.1GB?
  2. It was just an observation :) Crossfire I have like 60% GPU load, and running 1 card it's like 95-99%. Only thing that would ever worry me is, am I bottlenecking myself?
  3. With ENB on and crossfire off, it worked as intended. Just nuked my GPU usage spiking it to 95%+ Though, I'd assume by going to 1k normals it would help that out. I was using 2k textures and normals.
  4. Here is two vids I took of my ENB + Crossfire issues: The focusing in and out is my camera, the bad quality is my camera, BUT the flashing is the ENB + Crossfire combo. When ENB off and Crossfire on, all works well.
  5. Hello, I'm not familiar with what exactly is going on with SR and SR:LE, but I have noticed some changes around the boards recently.  Most notably the presence of STEP packs that to me and what I see seem to break down mod selection into packs for only specific things. I went through the SR guide in it's entirety before SR:LE began.  I though had issues with CTD approaching the 3.1GB limit.  I understand, SR:LE was going to fix this with insturctions for texture resizes. That was the reason, I didn't play the original SR because I needed to fix my CTD issues and I was waiting for SR:LE for this.  I have never played Dawnguard, Dragonborn, or hearthfire, so I was waiting for SR:LE to come out so I can play a new with not only all the DLC, but also the beauty of SR. Okay, well what am I getting at?  The addition of all this "Pack" talks made me concerned that SR is now going to be broken down into packs instead of a full blown guide with everything put together in one.  Is that the direction SR is going?  Or is SR:LE and STEP Packs two completely different things? I have been patiently waiting for the day, since SR:LE was announced (which happened as I finished the original SR install) to play a complete and working SR:LE.  And I guess I just wanted to know if that was still going to happen?  Bunch of changes have happened here since last I visited and I can't tell what is going on anymore. If SR:LE will continue to be the massive all in one project I hope it will be, will there be an all in one "SR:LE Patch" that can be downloaded that does all the compatibility patches for you? That is all for know.  Continue to do a great job guys.  I just am so anxious to play the upcoming masterpiece... :) Thank you.
  6. I check the forums here every few days for a progress update on SR:LE. The latest update was a bit of a downer, but considering the sheer size of this project, it is understandable. I shall continue to wait patiently until it is done. When complete, it will be a glorious day! But, we must first exercise patience till that time. GL Neo! I just hope you can keep your motivation going.
  7. One of your settings was incorrect. You misread somewhere. I remember I did the same thing, my first attempt took hours, but then I realized I didn't set everything up properly and next time it was MUCH shorter. Read the Wiki file. I'm going to say you missed a setting.
  8. SR uses Hearthfire, so if the author states it's not compatible with Hearthfire, then it won't be compatible with SR. Unless custom patches were made to make it compatible.
  9. Given the sheer quantity of texture mods SR incorporates, there is only 2 options to avoid the 3.1GB crash. Either the 1k texture packs for the exterior mods, or keep using the 2k packs and resize the normals to 1k. My guess is current testing will try out 2k textures with 1k normals for stability and he will aim for that as the texture resolutions. If it is not enough and the 3.1GB limit is still a problem, then down to the 1k packs for exteriors, and 2k for interiors.
  10. I would like to respectfully disagree with those who say a dual graphics solution is wasted on Skyrim. Â (Unless I am the one misunderstanding and this is a SLI only conversation and not related to Crossfire? Or maybe NVIDIA runs better then what I can on one card?) I use 2x Radeon 7970HD cards in crossfire (stock settings, no O.C.). I realize this seems to be a SLI thread, with no mention to AMD's crossifre, but I want to comment on dual graphic solutions in my experience. First off, I have found ENB and Crossfire do NOT get along well at all. It has an extreme flickering problem when I enable both. When ENB is off though, Crossfire and Skyrim seem to work more efficiently. Before I posted this reply I did a quick test. Using my Skyrim Revisted, all 2k texture mods. I used GPU-Z to monitor. My testing location was the heavy wilderness in the Rift (heavy on GPU), I used the same route both tests. With Crossfire disabled: 99% GPU Load ~25-30 FPS CTD quickly With Crossfire enabled: 70-80% GPU Load ~50-60 FPS No CTD For me, Crossfire and Dual Graphic solutions gives a great performance boost for a modded Skyrim, which is why we are all here right?
  11. William hit everything right on, though one thing he didn't comment was the Organized Bandit mod. Took a look at it, read it over and seems very interesting. I like the idea and I like giving life to bandits in Skyrim. I'm not knowledgeable enough with this stuff to say it would be good or bad, but I like the premise and idea. May give it a look :)
  12. What mod is making Whiterun so full of trees and vegetation in your SS? I have never been able to get in Whiterun with my SR to see it, as soon as I get close to the city I CTD. Is it a mod in SR? So would my Whiterun look like that too if I can get in and not CTD? Reason I ask, I've always wanted my Whiterun to look like that :(
  13. No' date=' I used all 2k texture packs :) Â There in lies the problem, but I will wait for SR:LE none the less.[/quote'] Are you planning on updating your current SR when LE comes out or completely uninstalling SR for a clean install of LE? When SR:LE comes out, I will do a fresh install from scratch. Â Not going to bother trying to upgrade or update pieces here and there. Â It will be all fresh. Â Plus, I REALLY like following Neo's guide anyway. Â Gives me a good handle on everything and I learn a lot in the process.
  14. No, I used all 2k texture packs :) Â There in lies the problem, but I will wait for SR:LE none the less.
  15. I did current SR, but upon completion I have been consistently hitting the 3.1GB CTD wall to the point it is unplayable. So I have decided to wait till SR:LE with the new tweaks to help prevent my problem :)
  16. Thanks for the reply's statmonster, I appreciate it. Now I'm getting all excited to play :P
  17. Hi, thanks for the reply and you pretty much covered everything I wanted to know. Seems like Civil War Overhaul is what I am looking for judging by your description. I like having more plot and story line. Is Immersive Patrols a substitute for both? You mentioned it I could use it to replace Warzones, but if I wanted to use CWO and IP together would it work, or is it either one or the other? Thanks for the explanation. It does make me feel more confident and comfortable using a mod by someone who is well versed in the scripting language and also updates frequently because he cares. I think CWO is going to be my Civil War mod of choice once :) Hopefully I'll be able to fit it in with SR:LE when it is done. Also, his other mod Dragon Combat Overhaul. That would be a direct replacement for Deadly Dragons?? Good points. I will definitely try at least and see how it goes :D Though, as I said in the quote above, I'll probably wait till SR:LE is released and get my mind blown with everything all at once... lol. @Neovalen: I read your update sticky, looks like you are putting in a lot of effort and work into this project. It will certainly pay off. Thank you and I can't wait!! :)
  18. Has a civil war mod (overhaul) ever been considered for SR? I know two that seem to be pretty popular, though I am not knowledgeable enough in the world of modding to tell the differences or which is better. But it sure would be nice to have a legit, realistic civil war happening like what I was expecting from Bethesda and ultimately let down upon play through :( https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37216/? https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9494/? Just curious, maybe there is a reason I am not aware of that they aren't part of SR. Or came up before and I am too late. Just throwing it out there :)
  19. Didn't know where else to post this, but I'm about to cry with happiness! Even though I'm reaching the 3GB limit for CTD's, before the CTD happens I have the Skyrim I always imagined and have always wanted. It is beautiful, and so detailed. Oh how I wish the executable could handle more RAM because I am going to be so reluctant to back down my textures and lose what I have just experienced. I took advantage of it and took screenshots of my world to always remember it by. Thank you Neo for putting together a guide to bring out the true beauty of Skyrim. I just wish it could have realized it's potential without the software and hardware limitations we must work around to be playable. Amazing! I'll welcome the changes to the guide to combat the CTD's. But first, I'm going to try and optimize everything I have and see if it helps. If not, then I want to bring down the normals to 1k first, before touching the textures, and see if it works. I want to downgrade as minimal as possible. I'm just so happy with the game I just experienced today finally in it's full glory and want to thank Neo and the entire team he works with for an amazing job well done!
  20. I have found this to be true too. Usually it is right at 3.1GB when I CTD... but sometimes I can squeeze a couple more hundred megabytes and get to like 3.4GB before CTD. But so far it's never been less than 3.1GB.
  21. Since Skyrim is a 32Bit executable, the game will always CTD the moment your RAM usage reaches 3.1GB. It's a problem for me too that I am currently working and tossing around ideas to help lower RAM usage. Right now before starting Skyrim I monitor my systems RAM at 4.1GB. When I load Skyrim Revisted and start exploring the world, I can still continue to gauge my RAM usage on my second monitor, and once I hit the 7.2GB area (Which means I'm pulling 3.1GB from Skyrim) I crash to desktop.
  22. Well, its Crossfire... :( I disabled crossfire, with ENB enabled, and I had no flickering. I then proceeded to turn Crossfire back on with ENB enabled and I got the flickering. CCC Driver version 13.1 When I loaded ENB with no Crossfire I was getting GPU loads in the upper 90%'s.... :( EDIT: Seems like the latest driver is 13.4, and I have 13.1. I will install new driver and try again and will post results. EDIT2: Nope, upgrading drivers still didn't work. EDIT3: Again, upgraded to CCC Driver 13.6 BETA. Still not fixed... haha :( Tried this, but didn't have an effect. Looks like this is a incompatibility between ENB and Crossfire and NOT Skyrim and Crossfire.  When I disable ENB and enable Crossfire everything is just fine.  Just heavy on the GPU load. LAST EDIT: I think it's time for me to learn how to use DDSopt. I think, as suggested, 1k normals should do the trick and fix the 3.1GB crash. And if that is the case, I should be fine just using one GPU and ENB and all should be good and I can start my playing :)
  23. WOAH! It sounds like you have a completely different problem than the ENB if you're reaching 7.1GB that shouldn't even be possible as using 3.1GB of RAM will CTD your game. Unless you're saying you're using 4GB in total before you start skyrim. Now this cannot be emphasized enough. Optimize ALL of your textures. The max is probably 2048 for the plain textures; and I wouldn't go above 1024 for the normals (the ones with _n in the name) Yeah I meant before I even start the game my system is pulling around 4GB of RAM usage. It's not until I starty Skyrim and start running outside in the wilderness that the RAM usage shoots up to 7.1GB. Which happens to be exactly at the 3.0GB limit. So atleast I know why I got those CTD's and I'm not too worried about that. I've only optimized the Bethesda stuff I believe since I think that is all that is covered in SR. I can optimize more that should help that CTD issue out. But knowing the problem and the solution, I'm not too worried about it.Â
  24. Yeah, I followed Neo's ATI driver guide. I plan on doing some troubleshooting tonight to try and narrow down the issue. I will try this as one of my options. As owner of a HD7950 and previously having this issue with Skyrim without ENB and with ENB (amplified 10x with ENB). Artifacting in DX9 based game is somewhat common for older ATI driver. Like 13.1 and below. Updating to the latest driver fixed it for me. Current one is 13.4, there is also 13.5 if u want to try the beta. If you already have latest driver then it's probably related to Crossfire which I read it doens't play too nice with Skyrim. I'm currently at work and can't recall what ATI driver I have, but I believe it automatically prompts me to update everytime a new version is out, so I am fairly certain my driver is the most up to date out there. When I play Skyrim without ENB, the game is very smooth and no flickering. Just the ENB seems to bomb it. Crossfire is working fine, as long as ENB is off. I'll confirm my driver version number when I get home. I will try and disable crossfire and test it again and see what happens. The AO and Reflection settings are changed by pressing ctrl + shift right? To bring up the ingame GUI? Lastly, I want to say.... besides the ENB issue everything else seems to be fine except for that stupid 3GB limit! Oh how I wish this game was a 64bit game :(  Before starting SR Skyrim I am sitting at like 4.1GB Ram, and during gameplay it shoots up to around 7GB and once I get close to 7.2GB I CTD :( But that issue is known and fixable to an extent. I am just worried mostly about my ENB issue for now. Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate it!
