Yes, it worked perfectly this time. The lids are all back. Thank you very much for your help.

I suppose it is enough if I only regenerate the lods for Tamriel Worldspace, correct? And then mege it with the previous one?
-
Thank you, it worked: the files were generated again. Now I have to regenerate the Dyndolod file, so you'll probably get an answer in two to three hours.

I have done as specified in the troubleshooting section, so I have deleted the Cgid file in question, loaded the game and used the "cow Tamriel" command for the coordinates that were causing issues, but I didn't get any message of No Grass in objects generating them anew, nor can I find the new cgid file in my overwrite folder. Did I have to follow some more steps that aren't mentioned in the troubleshooting section? Is it meant to be done while executing the "Grass Cache" command from MO2?

Hello, as some other users here I have been unable to completely generate the Object LODs for Tamriel worldspace (LODGenx64 has been unable to generate Object LOD). I am not sure what mods are causing this issue, but the "LODGen_SSE_Tamriel_log.txt" ends the report with the following sentence: "Error processing grass data Tamrielx-017y-036.cgid" and cites the error code: 640. I've had a chat with Microsoft support and I've been told to reinstall the os as a last resort. Using the prompt sfc /scannow told me that the laptop is in perfect health and everything is working fine. Also, the strange thing is that by enabling the hidden administrator profile I could uninstall and modify mods without a problem. So yeah, I'm reinstalling Windows 10 Pro at the moment, keeping all my apps and files and hoping that it will work as intended. Also, I did as you asked and tried to change the properties of MO to run as administrator, but to no avail. It still didn't work. That is why I then asked MS for help. Let's see how it goes.

I have disabled the Antivirus (Windows Defender), but it didn't change things. I then went to see if the folder permission was set to full control for everyone and it is; then I checked the folder permission of the OS C: and one out of 4 users doesn't have full control. Is it wise to change the permission for it to full control as well? The other three users (Authenticated Users, SYSTEM and Administrators) all have the "full control" option ticked. I just want to be extra careful not to expose my system to danger of any sort, like viruses having easier access to my files and such if I give "users" full control. P.S. as for the programmes installed on this laptop, I really didn't install much: Office 2016, DirectX runtime User 2010 (because of the enbs crashing to desktop), my printer's driver, Autocad 2018, Sketchup, Discord, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Steam, MO, VLC Media Player, Java, Firefox. Other than that I didn't install any other programme on my laptop, I just removed some bloatware.

Nope, nothing changed. The curious thing now is that I can uninstall whenever I want the mod "Alternate start", whereas "Verdant" or "Cloaks of Skyrim" continue to give me the same problem. the only way I have to reinstall them is to manually delete them from the mods folder, by opening all the sub folders and deleting all the files in them. I've noticed I can move all the loose files and some folders from the MO folder to my desktop without an issue, but other folders within, as the "mods" folder, need me first to "retry" and then tell me I need to be allowed by the admin.

So, I am not 100% sure yet, but it seems I have solved the problem by uninstalling the Nvidia Geforce Experience. I've installed MO again and I have downloaded and installed just one mod: "Alternate start - Live another life", then I loaded the a new game. After closing it to desktop, with MO still open, I uninstalled and reinstalled the mod without a problem. I then tried to shut down the laptop and restart it and reinstall the mod again, no problem whatsoever. Since it is just one mod I am not taking it for granted that I solved my problem, but I feel positive about it. I will try later with more complex mods like FNIS and DSR.

I have a gtx 960m and I have installed the Nvidia experience a few days ago. Maybe removing that program could help. It does create a game overlay pretty much like steam when I start up Skyrim. Maybe that one is the culprit (it also "optimized" my Skyrim, now that I remember). As soon as I have my laptop with me I'll try to see if this is the solution.

Then maybe I could try moving Steam and Skyrim out of the C: Drive and into a subdirectory, like Documents. According to a comment in another forum there I shouldn't have to worry about permissions and so forth. I've read that it might be that since the Steam installation is now in the home directory the system is not allowing me to access the mods any further to prevent possible damage. It would have been easier for me if I had a D: partition like on older laptops, but this new one only has a C: drive. Do you think this might work?

Watching the newest Gamerpoets' Installation video for MO, I've noticed a couple of steps I didn't follow when setting MO up by myself, namely: 1. Activating the "Back-date BSAs" option in the Workarounds Tab in the Settings; 2. Activating "Automatic archive invalidation" in the Profiles tab. (maybe I did, maybe I didn't. I can't remember since I completely uninstalled MO this morning). Do you think it might have been the culprit? It might not mean anything, but I will try later on to install a mod and run the game and see what effect it has on the mod itself (if I can uninstall/change it or not). Also, this time, even before running the MO installer, I have run the game with its own launcher, just to be sure. Fingers crossed :)

Upon expanding Task Manager I see I have 79 Processes running in the background :( It will be a hard work figuring out which one is causing me trouble. Anyway, thank you for your help up to now :) About Edge, I know it isn't much of a browser, but it is lighter than the others and the gestures work flawlessly on it, which helps me a lot when doing stuff for the university. My older laptop had problems with Firefox, which wasn't feeling as snappy as on the new one and was prone to crashing every now and then, but I alsways use it because I like the idea behind it. As for Chrome, it is a good one, but I never fell in love with it.

I am sure Skyrim wasn't active when I tried to uninstall the mods (I also closed Steam) and I even tried to only have either MO or the mods folder open in explorer to uninstall the mods manually. I am not sure about what is happening, because I've just reinstalled a texture pack for Verdant through MO and I have just changed the name. I haven't started Skyrim yet, but I can do whatever I want with the newly installed mod. I fear that the inability to modify the mods further after starting the game is linked to Skyrim itself locking them, though I can't find anything on the internet about it. Hm, I've just managed to manually delete the mod by opening it in explorer and deleting every single file one by one starting by the last sub folder. Now, I wanted to change the name of the other Verdant texture I've installed, but I am presented with the error message:" Unable to complete the action because the folder or a file inside of it is open in another programme"... and yet I have just Discord, Firefox, Edge and the Mods folder open, at least according to the Task Manager. So apparently there is another programme running in the background and stopping me from modifying the mods, but I don't know how to identify it. What I meant by that statement was that I can't uninstall or update/modify the previously installed mods neither through MO nor by opening them in the file explorer and trying to do the same manually. I also failed to mention that I had a strange issue with the game CTD to desktop when using an enb. I solved it by installing Directx9 on the laptop using a Microsoft tool (DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)). Unfortunately I can't say if that programme might be the culprit, but it seems unlikely.

Hmmm, then no, I haven't installed a single mod through steam. I also noticed that the Mod Organizer folder in the Skyrim directory is set to "read only". Even if I untick that option and apply it to the folder and all its content it will still not allow me to replace mods or move stuff out of the overwrite folder. I then checked again the properties of the MO folder and I discovered that the "read only" option is there again. And now, if I want to change the option again I am asked for administrator permission, then it says there is an error and the access isn't granted. I don't understand why the program lets me install all mods again if I change the name, but then I can't modify of uninstall them neither through MO nor manually. I don't know, I am not an expert, so I fear I might compromise my machine if I touch something I shouldn't.

I understand, but I am only using windows defender on my laptop, just as on the old one and it never even once interfere with MO. The same goes for FNIS, DSR or DynDOLOD; they all still work fine. Just the mods are impossible to change or update (and I can't move stuff out of the overwrite folder). The only workaroud I know of, at the time, is reinstalling a mod with a different name. In this case, the installation will have no problem whatsoever, but I will still keep the other mod and I will end up with two mods on my system for the same thing. I am worried it is a problem with the way windows 10 pro works, since up to today I have always used the home version. If I am not mistaken windows 10 pro has data encryption built into the system and that might be a problem for a modder. I've read the link you just gave me, thank you, but even when I exclude MO from Windows defender the mods still can't be installed the normal way. I can't even manually delete folders from the mod subfolder of MO, but I can drag any file out of the Skyrim directory. May it be that Steam is interfering with MO? It never happened before though.

Hello, I have recently bought a new laptop with windows 10 pro and I would like to mod Skyrim on it, but MO doesn't allow me to modify my installed mods. I can install and uninstall them without problem as long as I don't start the game. Once I have started the game and I want to change something in my mod list after closing Skyrim, I am no longer able to do so. For example, I have tried multiple times to reinstall and substitute "XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended", but I get an error: "can not open output file \\?\C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\mods\XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended\meshes\actor\character\character assets female\skeleton_female.hkx". At the same time, I have some skse files i the overwrite folder after starting the game that I would like to put in their own folder by using the function "create mod...", but I get the message: "impossible to complete the action because the folder or a file inside of it is open in another programme", even though I double checked that all game folders other than MO are closed. In both cases I also am asked for administrator permissions, which I have and grant, but the process is put on hold and I am told the permissions are still needed. I already completely installed my almost 200 mods twice, toghether with Steam, Skyrim, MO. I have also uninstalled everything (Steam, Skyrim, MO) through their respective uninstallers twice and I have been left with a huge amount of empty subfolders in the Steam folder. I cannot eliminate them by simply eliminating the Steam folder, but I have to eliminate every single of them by starting from the last subfolder backwards. Even in the "mods" folder of MO. I've been to a technician and he told me it might have been that Windows 10 has messed up my account authority, so that I am not actually an administrator. He solved the problem by creating a completely new account with correct authority and deleting the old one, so I am 100% sure it is a problem with MO itself. On my old laptop I haven't ever had such problems. Does anyone know what might be happening with my installation and how could I solve it? P.s. I managed to reinstall XP32 by changing the "Fomod Installer" in the "plugin" section of the MO "settings": enabled from true to "false". This, however, doesn't help with mods without a fomod installer like Verdant.

Use old enb preset with newer binaries?
Werterdert1 replied to Werterdert1's question in Post-Processing Support
Hehe, thank you. Looking at Cinemascope enbseries.ini and at the standard 0.301 enbseries.ini I see they are extremely different in structure. Do you know if there is a way I could port the older enb settings onto the new enb version? I don't really understand what do I have to change in the new one to get the exact same effect of the old enb. -
Use old enb preset with newer binaries?
Werterdert1 replied to Werterdert1's question in Post-Processing Support
Where do I find these "embargoes.ini"? They are not present in the zip file of the enb nor in the 0.301 binary files I've downloaded from enbdev. Also, Cinemascope enb by Stakado is based on enbseries 0.108 and I can't access the GUI when ingame. I suppose it is because it is an old enb...? -
Hello, I am new to enbs and since I've discovered my potato-laptop can handle Stakado enb to bearable level (18-20 fps outside, 25-30 inside), I would like to know if I can add some more effects to this wonderful enb. The only think I would like to see are cloud shadows, since I really like the atmosphere they can produce. I've installed the most recent enbseries (Version 0.301) on my laptop and the Stakado enb as well. Is there a way to allow the enb to use the newer effects? Thanks in advance for the help :)

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Werterdert1 replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Thank you for your support. Unfortunately it didn't change much. I've tried using the console commands you gave me and "tll" made no difference whatsoever. Lods or not, every time I face the mountains I get to 0 FPS (I have now changed location. Now, when I travel from Whiterun to the Lunar forge, everything works fine and I am happy with that, but when I am near the stairs of the forge or at its top, when facing towards Bleak Falls Barrow, I get 0 Fps again. Facing in other directions doesn't cause this problem). Using the "tfc" command gives the same result: I can travel everywhere without any performance problem, but whenever I decide to go back to the Lunar forge with the camera, once I am nearer, I start getting huge fps drops. If I want to get out of it I have to face the ground until I am at the bottom of the stairs. How do I install the lower textures? Is it enough to copy the content of the folder "textures.128" into "D:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\mods\DynDOLOD 1.45\Textures"? Should I do it before generating the Lods again or can I do it after the process as well? (It takes almost 2 hours for me to complete the process on my laptop) P.S. Also, I am not running any mods that add new objects to towns. I've removed all mods that could add new buildings and towns and I have generated new lods following the instructions on your mod page. I am not using hd textures for landscapes, but only for npcs, weapons and smaller effects like smoke and fires and I am always using the lower resolution version, if available (1k or less. 2k only for the amidianborn armours). I am trying to learn how to properly use MO and Tes5Edit, but I am still a beginner. In the meantime, I am reading your manual. Thanks in advance for your help. :) -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Werterdert1 replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Hello, I am having a problem with Dyndolod 1.41: I have started to get huge fps drops outside of Whiterun when facing in the direction of the Gate with bridge and High Rothgar. On the other hand, when I turn in the opposite direction, facing the giant camp and the wilderness, my fps go back to normal. Now, my Laptop is a low end one and I am getting an average of 20 fps outside and 30-40 in interiors with 150 mods or so. I've generated the Lods with medium settings and I am not experiencing thes fps drops when roaming the wilds, only in front of Whiterun and Riften. When it happens I get to 0 fps and I have to face the ground only to be able to move around. Will updating to 1.45 bring some performance improvements?
