  1. I do see it as my personality or perhaps "mental" DisOrder but I have to stop every other step and ask for clarification. Then wait for a reply. Like the one that broke me...I still have no idea what files in the Falskaar mod I was supposed to open in DDSopt. I looked everywhere I could find on every link provided and no such detail ( for me much needed detail ) could be found. I most certainly thank you for replying nonetheless.
  2. If I knew how I would take this post down so no one would waste time on it. At the rate this install progresses for me it would take me three months just to finish the install. There is no need to reply to this topic as I deleted everything back to vanilla. I sure hope all of you hardworking people bringing this awesome attempt forward will keep up the good work and keep us 140 IQ simpletons with moderate OCD and minor tourrettes in mind when and if you add many more details to the instructions.
  3. I am back again. I am trying to optimize the falskaar textures. In the insructions it says Click the [browse] button near the top text-box and select the mod folder to optimize. It does NOT say which folder this is. I deduce it must be textures but I have three folders in the texture folder "actors", "Falskaar", and "Terrain". Is it just one of these or all three ? I apologize for needing help at practically every step. I promise if I have to ask for help one more time I will give up and delete this whole mess until someone goes back and clarifies the instructions. I hope it is not like this all the way through. Very discouraging. Looking at the DDSopt guide it seems it would be a BSA I am looking for but there is no BSA in Falskaar. There is an ESM. Also each of those three folders mentioned earlier have multiple folders inside them. Really confusing as to which folder I am supposed to be opening in DDSopt.
  4. That did it. AWESOME . Thanks Jarl, that gets me unstuck and on to the next step.
  5. Blocksteal Redux Author: towawot Version: 1.4.1 Optionals: All vannila miscItem basket text by White Shadow Special Installlation: Do not install the following file(s) and/or folder(s): Main File: PreventsAccidentPickUp.bslreadme*.txtFor the optional file, create directory SKSE/Plugins and move PreventsAccidentPickUp.basket into it during installation. Mod Notes: This mod prevents accidental pick up of items marked as stealing. Additionally, other items can be configured to not be picked up on activation such as plates, silverware, etc. Where do I create this directory SKSE/Plugins ? I have often used mods that result in SKSE Plugins being generated to the overwrite folder after a few moments of gameplay. I use the create mod option the first time it happens and after I just move any more to that folder which I name SKSE Plugins. I also do not understand the "move PreventsAccidentPickUp.basket into it during installation" How is that accomplished ? I feel like a noob. Thanks all for patience and tolerance.
  6. If your command line starts with C:/Users/yourname you can type cd.. that is cd followed by two periods and hit enter and you will now see C:/Users. type cd.. again and enter again and you will be back to your needed basic C prompt. And any who re interested the 8.1 version DOES support windows 7, it says so a couple of lines down the page where you download it. That was what worked for me....I think, actually I am guessing I must get further along in the install to the part where this will be used and am hoping there are instructions To teach me how to use/test this. I also had no success with copy and paste for navigating to the tools folder. Had to do it one step cd (foldername) enter at the time as described above. Once there you can copy and paste the corflags switch and the "compiler path" with the quotation marks.
  7. Thanks Dragon Prince. That is helpful.
  8. I am sorry if I posted in the wrong section....I am somewhat new to this. I was on the skyrim revisited legendary edition page and up at the top left it says FORUMS so I clicked on it and figured that was where I should ask for help. I still do not know how to be sure I got the optimized vanilla, dawngaurd, hearthfires, dragonborn and high res 1, 2, and 3 installed properly. The optimized vanilla is the only one that contains anything labeled BSA and confusingly it says dawngaurd BSA instead of vanilla BSA as I would have expected. Shouldn't all seven of these files have BSA's or since I am probably more lost than I know, shouldn't they all BE BSA's??? and am I correct in thinking all seven should show up under the archives tab in the right pane? If anyone can just get me through this section of the install I really really thank you.
  9. in the Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition instructions, just after papyrus compiler fix for 64 bit systems is the "Configure Mod Organizer" section. It says "Select "BSA Extractor" in the left pane. In the right pane, double click the value to the right of "enabled" and select "true. I was just doing as instructed. All of my current questions are regarding that specific set of instructions. I am more interested in whether or not I need to re-install all of those optimized texture packs and make sure all the BSA's are listed under the archive tab in the right pane of M-O. The Vanilla textures was the only one that came out with a BSA and it says it is Dawngaurd.BSA so as you can imagine I am quite lost now. Can someone help me get past this part of the install ? I am seriously wanting to play some Skyrim.
  10. I must have messed up now. I went back to re-install and started with the vanilla optimized. I chose yes to extract the BSA and clicked remember this choice. My archive tab in the right pane now has a vanilla optimized textures in the list but the checkbox beneath it says dawngaurd textures BSA. But the dawngaurd, hearthfires, dragonborn and all three high res packs did not show up under archives in the right pane like vanilla did. So now I am wondering why. Now if I look in the left pane under optimized dawgaurd, hearthfire, dragonborn or any high res packs there are no BSA's. Returning to my download folder I extract the original optimized high res pack number 2 and I get this message from WinRAR diagnostic CRC failed in texture pack.... the file is corrupt. Number three extracted to a desktop folder and says it is a BSA. I don't know what to do. Considering deleting everything (again) Please help me so I won't have totally wasted the last eight days on this. After several tries and several failures due to corruption I have finally managed to extract all of the optimized BSA's into a folder on my desktop. Will I even need them...??? How do I get them where they need to be ???
  11. I am using M-O 1.3.7 which I just updated within the last two weeks. It claims to be up to date. Nexus says it is the latest version. What sounds funny now is that I have been using M-O for a while now and this is the first time it has ever shown me that option. I must have installed a thousand mods with this program and never been asked if I wanted M-O to extract the BSA. When I put these optimized texture packs in M-O says they are redundant. I have never seen that in M-O either, but I realize some configuration changes were made as per the install instructions. Anyway...should I re-install all of those optimized textures and say yes this time when M-O asks about extracting the BSA's ? and about the archive or plug-in tab please.? Am also concerned about the number of conflicts showing under the data tab, right pane show conflicts only is showing ESM's and BSA's....I have never had that happen before. Also conflicts in meshes, scripts and textures. Lots of conflicts in scripts at this point. Will all of these be worked out later in the install ??
  12. I downloaded the optimized texture packs and M-O asked if I wanted to extract the BSA's when I was installing. I wasn't sure so I picked no. A few steps later, just under "The Dovahkiin Comes", I see a critical warning regarding saying YES when M-O prompts to extract the BSA. So ... do I need to go back and re-install those optimized vanilla, dawngaurd, hearthfire, dragonborn and optimized high-res packs 1, 2 and 3 allowing M-O to extract those BSA's and should I then make sure they are managed under the archives tab rather than the Plug-ins tab in the right pane of M-O? I think sometimes I am very impatient but I must have the patience of a saint. It took fifty plus hours for me to download those optimized textures. I hope someone else out there having difficulties can now say ..."whew ... at least I don't have that poor bastards internet provider" and feel a little bit better. Which ties in to my next question. It has now been a week since I played Skyrim. How often should I play a little to test functionality and should I avoid or feel free to complete a quest or make a game save before proceeding with the rest of the install. Or a little more install and a little more testing/playing. What is the recommendation ? I really appreciate the people who take time to answer noob type questions for a game this old ....thank you thank you thank you.
  13. I called alienware and got them to help me get the command string in. The way it worked was to open start menu and type cmd. cmd.exe appears at the top of the list. Right click cmd and click run as administrator. The msdos screen pops up with C:\>Windows\System32. To get back to the C:\ prompt I type in cd..to get back to Windows ( or remove the system 32 part)and then type cd.. (that's CEE DEE dot dot) again to get back to just a C:\ prompt. Next type in cd Program Files (x86)and hit enter. then type in cd Microsoft SDKs and hit enter. Then type cd Windows and hit enter. then type cd v8.1a and hit enter. then type cd bin and hit enter. Then type cd NETFX 4.5.1 Tools and hit enter and now there should be a > after the word tools. From here you can just copy and paste CorFlags.exe /32bit+ "C"\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Skyrim\Papyrus Compiler\PapyrusCompiler.exe" I have not reached the stage where I guess I will be compiling papyrus, so I have no proof yet of whether or not it worked and since I don't have any idea how to do that until I learn from this guide ( I hope ) I really can't know if this is functionally putting out ONLY 32 info. I have never used creation kit before. I am just trying to learn from someone who knows more than me about getting mods to work without breaking my game. I do enjoy learning new things. Now I have fought with this papyrus compiler thing for three or four days I am scared to try the DDSopt project and must condemn myself to downloading all those optimized texture packs with my internet speed capped at 1.5 mb down. See you in a week or two. Love, Peace and chicken grease. Thanx for reply. in case it matters to anyone else having this problem I am using windows 7 even though the file path above mentions 8.1 .... I think it was the SDK download that says it is for 8.1 but right below that it says it supports windows 7. anyway I hope it worked, I won't know til I get to the part where I compile some papyrus.:) whatever that means.....I need a nap
  14. Download and run the "Windows SDK for Windows" corresponding to the target OS. Install to the default location and select only ".NET Framework Software Development Kit". Yes... I started with that only to find there was nothing in the download specifically labeled " .NET Framework Software development Kit" So I thought , hmmm....maybe this is part of the install of an older version, so I treid that but it wouldn't install because the matching net framework would have to be an older version too....well three days later, after eight hours on the phone with alienware tech support and I have finally got my computer updated back to modern standards. I tried the same with various versions of visual studio. I got through this string "C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft SDKs/Windows/<Version>/bin/NETFX <Version> Tools , but there was never a NETFX inside of bin, so I never got past there. Is there a way to get the papyrus compiler to compile in 32 bit only by some other method or some recently updated program ? I am guessing that these tools existed when this page was created but I sure can't find them now. I don't have any idea how to contact user neovalen but I would like to know if this specific fix is of major or minor importance. I have been playing skyrim a while without ever hearing of this. But then I never heard you were supposed to quit and reload every time you die because the game loads unneeded files that can cause problems later. And I've only once been able to play a game beyond 2 or 3 hundred saves ( once I went over 900 saves )I am stuck on this step and waiting for knowledge before I continue. Please skyrim geniuses help me. May the ever elusive stability be our reward. edit hours later.....I finally manages to get the netfx file that is in the bin file. Now if I just had that developer command prompt. I've got one , but it is 2012 not 2013. Visual studio 2013 will not install because it says visual studio is not installed .....HUH ??? now I know they are out to get me ....sorry....when I do a search for developer command prompt it brings up the " Developer Command Prompt for VS2012 " how can it do that if it is not installed ??? I am so confused. Is there anyone who has done this successfully that would be willing to provide more detailed instruction ?? please one tiny step at a time.. Here's another good one "32bit+ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
