  1. A complete fresh Windows 10 install, setup Steam, installed Skyrim to C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim. Mod Organizer 1.3.11 installed to C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ModOrganizer. LOOT (latest installer) installed to C:\Games\LOOT Ran Skyrim from Steam for first time, setup all dependencies, Let Skyrim Launcher detect my hardware Played through the game into until I could open the menu and closed to desktop. Opened LOOT from the start menu, Skyrim is detected and it sorts the official DLC and plugins. Close LOOT Opened ModOrganizer, answered yes to associating nexus links. Selected LOOT from the executable drop-down and clicked run. Box pops up that MO is locked while loot runs. After a few seconds, goes right back to ModOrganizer, No LOOT window and no sorting. It should be noted that there are NO antivirus or security softwares installed yet. I have gone through and turned off the firewall and windows defender that comes with Windows 10. I have done this also running the executables as admin. The version of ModOrganizer and LOOT that is currently installed has been working fine before. Either part of Windows 10 updated, making this setup no longer work, or part of the OS gets moved tot he new install that has changed borking this. The only significant change that I know I instigated, was installing Enderal. But what in the nine hells could move from install to install related to this? Does anyone have any ideas? I would like to play Skytrim again, with mods and some fo the new ones, but so far that is not happening.
  2. So...running LOOT from Mod Organizer in a "Skyim" folder doesn't work, but running LOOT from Mod Organizer in an any other DOES work. I am able to run LOOT from the Skyrim-Enderal folder without a problem... Anyone have any ideas?
  3. My want to play Skyrim came last week, so I downloaded from steam my Legendary copy, did the normal run for a few minutes to ensure all my settings and configurations were in place. I then set out to setup Mod Organizer, LOOT had already been installed for Fallout 4, and that was no problem. I made sure it detected Skyrim outside of Loot, and again in Loot. Nothing was wrong. I then Installed STEP Extended 2.2.9.2. Everything was fine. LOOT ran without issue, I was able to edit Metadata and sorting rules. I then found Enderal. I was interested, but did not want to wreck my Skyrim I was working on. So I renamed my Skyrim folder to Skyrim-bak, renamed my Skyrim documents folder (ini's and saves) to Skyrim-bak. Downloaded a fresh copy. Installed MO into it, ran it once, LOOT opened just fine. Went through the install process and played for 5 minutes to ensure Enderal loaded. Renamed Skyrim to Skyrim-Enderal and tested it. Still loaded. MO still loads, LOOT loads from within MO. Happy. Renamed Skyrim-bak to Skyrim. Same here. MO loads fine. LOOT does its thing, I finish setting up STEP Extended and run for a few minutes testing out some things. Open LOOT a couple times to adjust load order of a couple plugins I installed outside of STEP (s handful of small utility mods I always play with) I then decided to try doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C74LjT96pr0 I followed Gopher's advanced video to have one install directory and LOOT has been borked since. The problem: I open MO from "Skyrim\ModOrganizer" and try to run LOOT. I get the 'locked' message from MO for a couple seconds, it then disappears. No LOOT window and no more sorting! I go into "Skyrim-Enderal\ModOrganizer" and run MO, good so far. Run LOOT from MO and it does what it is supposed to. What I have tried: Complete removal of LOOT (I use RevoUninstaller, so it finds all those little things left behind by installers) and I even deleted the local appdata folder for loot, reinstalled that from loot from scratch, downloaded a new Skyrim, went through fresh setup steps, running it for a few minutes, put a newly downloaded MO folder into my fresh, clean Skyrim folder. MO loads fine, and will still not open LOOT. I have run LOOT outside of MO, which runs fine outside of MO and still runs fine in my "Skyrim-Enderal" folder, to turn on debugging to make sense of the issue. I have no clue. Short of reinstalling Windows, I thought I would probe the community first. I have attached logs from these two programs under "Skyrim" Keep in mind, I have removed files in ".../appdata/local/LOOT" and ".../appdata/local/Skyrim" before attempting a fresh install to try and get LOOT to run in MO.   4. OK. So. Leather Backpack is in Project Nevada already. Verified on the nexus page, so this will be a bit redundant. If there are special values (will look into it further) maybe I'll make my own PN patch or just modify those values directly to the PN Equipment module. I have received feedback on Bottle That Water, and just as oqhansoloqo pointed out, it's a bit much and unbalancing. I will probably make two setups, and see how my water supplies last in a playthrough. Sorry Audley, you are right. It'll be difficult to integrate the no peep site version of the repeater. Maybe I'll look into modifying the meshes and textures on WRP/WMX and see if that'll work, but I don't really have the steam to modify the modding of Fallout. I just want to play. RWD is definitely out. My own 30 minute testing shows that even though it's a good idea...it's not implemented very well. I am looking into finding an alternative. One thing I am curious about on the Manual Reload... How about Realistic Reloading? (nexus link) Many mods I add or want to use must be updated to at least 2013... Still looking into reducing load order to minimize instability. Any advice on what might be mergeable? I know with Skyrim there were some strict rules like mods that have scripts, reference scripts or script fragments should not be merged, unless you want to resolve conflicts by hand.
  5. Yeah. I went back and watched a couple videos and have noticed it. I guess I'll just play around with difficulty and other settings. These were just some mods I played with before I started going with this mod list. I think before I add anything, I'll need to optimize my textures. I have an R9 290 and get barely above 30 fps while recording at least.
  6. Has anyone ventured into further decreasing the load order by merging more of the mods in the current F&L NV list? I'm considering adding a small handful of mods and I've already removed some I really don't want and will be testing the reduced setup soon. Right now, I have 138 esp/esm, 128 active after the removal of some things.   7. @politemaster Wrye Bash will not really merge mods, but mostly leveled lists and such. It is not a true merge. As Nozzer66 pointed out, Tes5Edit is used to merge plugins.   8. The number of active esp/esms is 255, hex FF. I'm glad Mod Organizer lets us know this. I believe, as I haven't attempted it yet, the game will CTD if more than that are active.

  10. 2. If you are installing a major modification and then optional files, I install with funtion MERGE or modification installed under another name?hard question to answer. It depends on your personal tastes and where you plan on going. During the Core install, some optionals are left out, but needed when going to Extended. Until you have a better grasp, I would suggest installing the mod from scratch, selecting the optionals you need, then rename it. Add "STEP Extended" to the end of it as example and then disable the previous version of the installed mod. To clarify, when i started installing STEP, i added to the end of all mods "STEP Core". Once I knew that was installed, complete and stable, I started from the top, found mods that had optionals for Extended, and renistalled those mods, making necessary adjustments and added "STEP Extended" to the end, deactivating the "STEP Core" version. I hope that makes sense. I just thought of something. If a mod has two files to install for a single mod, I would merge them. of course, this question would be best answered if I knew at least one of the mods you were having trouble or concern with.
  11. The SR:LE guide has the instruction included to disable that warning. in fact, I left a lot of MO setup options that way when I started dabbling in SR:LE before abandoning it back to STEP. I say, add it in. It can't really hurt anything and may help the person who is less able to comprehend what is written in English.

  13. Read, read, read seems to be the best advice you need at the moment. I have installed STEP many times int he past and yeah, I start screwing up by not paying attention and keep adding things left and right. Now, I am doing much better. As I install a mod from STEP, I read the mod's description form the Nexus. i pay attention to what mods might complement it later, or changes I may need to pay attention to for when I start using any of these packs. I have managed to get STEP Extended, Explorer's Guide, Immersive Survival and Weather and Lighting installed, hitting the mod limit and have a VERY stable experience. Don't get me wrong, I am very much as greedy as you probably. But I am forcing myself to stop and pay attention to what I am doing. For instance, I have stopped adding mods, but I have a spreadsheet and notepad open with notes I am keeping. Things like what esps might be mergable to free up more slots, what mods will actually conflict with others, (I've had to let go a couple must-have mods because of this), etc. As for your question Ok, so i use both guides but first start off with the STEP: 2.2.9 guide and then when i finish with that one i go to the second link you posted or i have to pick from one of the guides? I believe and I may be wrong here, STEP Core/Extended and Skyrim Revisited are two separate "bases" to start modding from. For now, until i understand more about conflict resolution and mod interaction, i am sticking with just STEP Extended. This might be the right advice for you. Pick one ;) Also in case i do not want one of the mods that have the green bar will the step core patch work or the mods with the green bar are imperative to be installed? Try it. Add all the mods into Mod organizer, activate the mods you want, keeping the ones you don't inactive and after applying the STEP Patch, see if through Wrye Bash if it complains it's missing a master. You have two choices then: 1) install the mod anyway. 2) Learn how to strip out the merged info from the STEP patch. 1) is the easy road 2) is the harder more rewarding road. Also i want to install SkyRe and Complete character overhaul. By what i have read about STEP and SkyRe and CCO i believe it should work together so should i install them, and other mods out of the guide, after i finish the step project?Correct. Make sure your STEP or Skyrim Redone (whichever you choose) install is as solid and stable as possible. Then start adding things. I can tell you form the past (long before the STEP 2.2.9 release) that SkyRe and CCO can work together with STEP (not sure about Skyrim Redone, I have not used it) I have done it before. It never hurts to ask a quesiton unless that quesiton ahs been answered hundreds of times or is explicitly stated in description and instructions.   14. @hishtup Yup. I am watching for that. Especially with STEP and REGS. Every step is being followed to the letter. For packs that don't have good descriptions and instructions will require some deeper research and paying attention to what they do. On another note, since I have followed the DDSOpt guide and optimized the HighRes DLC 1-3 textures, did that guide and batch files optimize ALL textures in the DLC BSAs? If so, I can remove the bsa and esp files from the data folder, further increasing the esp/esm slots I can use.
  15. Thanks to both of you. @TechAngel85, yeah...I know. My thinking is this: Extracted or not, the mod's assets will be replacing the vanilla assets. Having "loose" versions of mods vs bsa versions of mods ensure the mod content overwrites the vanilla content. I am also doing that for myself as a base for modding the future. My plan is to install STEP Core/Extended, RGES, Weather and Lighting and Survival. Along the way each Pack will be tested to ensure it loads alone, then slowly integrate them till they are active and I can ensure they are stable. Then it'll be down to resolving any lasting conflicts, Look for mergable plug-ins then start adding any mods I would like to play with. I remember I had a mod setup using SkyRe and Character Creation Overhaul... I would like to try that again.
  16. It's been a looooong time since I've played Skyrim and the mod folders have been trashed, so I am starting from scratch with STEP Core/Extended. Since I don't have a whole lot of time with being newly married and full time job, I cannot spend a lot of time on resolving issues on my own research. Well, I could... but sometimes I do get impatient. I don't need an answer on this right away, but if someone could help, that would be awesome. I am following STEP Core and Extended 2.2.9 to the letter. In the Core install, Brawl Bugs Patch is being used. During Mod Organizer's install of the mod, I have it set to un-archive the BSAs. There is nothing but scripts and Mod Organizer says it's a dummy anyway. So...I can free up a slot just by either removing the esp or putting it into the optionals folder, correct? There should be no issue since this BSA only had script files and the esp is a "dummy". I'll be opening it soon in TES5Edit, I just thought I'd ask. After playing for about 30 minutes on STEP Core, there doesn't seem to be any ill effects. Also, same thing happening with Better Weapon Swing Sounds. I am still in the middle of setting up Extended, so I can switch gears at any time. Thanks for your time!
