  1. This is a quote from S.T.E.P. WIKI: This is the Official DLC from Bethesda. It should follow the Cleaned Updated.esm in the left pane modlist. If custom, optimized versions of the textures from Dawnguard are used, they should be placed directly after it. Also, Dawnguard.esm must be cleaned in TES5Edit: Make a backup of Dawnguard.esm from <skyrim>/data directory by copying it to the desktop (or somewhere else handy). Run TES5Edit through Mod Organizer. Right-click the list of plugins and choose [select None]. Double-click Dawnguard.esm. Wait for the Background Loader: finished in the right panel, and then right-click [Dawnguard.esm] and select [Apply Filter For Cleaning]. Wait for the [Filtering done] Processed Records: message in the right panel, and then right-click [Dawnguard.esm] and select [Remove "Identical to Master" records]. If the Warning! prompt pops up, click [Yes, I'm absolutely sure]. Wait for the [Removing "Identical to Master" records done] Processed Records: message, and then right-click [Dawnguard.esm] and select [undelete and Disable References]. Wait for the [undeleting and Disabling References done] Processed Records: message, and then click the [X] at upper right of the program window to exit the program. At the prompt, checkmark Dawnguard.esm and Backup Plugins and click [OK]. Dawnguard is a special case. It must be cleaned twice. Repeat steps 2 through 9.I use S.T.E.P. and Gopher videos as a basis for resolving my game build and helping me to troubleshoot issues. I have nothing but respect for the information you both impart to the gaming community. I apologize if I came across as denigrating any of either of your contributions, knowledge of the subject matter or the amount of personal time you spend to help the community. The point I was trying to make, obviously very poorly, was in response to an earlier post that included: "How many times/places do I have to post ..... The poster was apparently frustrated. My point was to try to actually answer their question. Due to lack of knowledge, confusion or even background ( like myself: 6 years as a nuclear reactor operator on a US Navy submarine, 4 years as an operator of a commercial nuclear power plant, 13 years in the radioactive waste processing and shipping industry, QA/QC..... verbatim compliance to procedures) you will get questions. You guys are the experts, if you say to do it this way and someone you reference says to do it differently and there is no explanation as to the reason for them, confusion will ensue. Please don't let them get you down ( don't want you going postal ). Take a deep breath and remember that without your dedication and hard work there are a lot of gamers out there enjoying the game that probably wouldn't be due to how Bethesda chose to release it. Again, I apologize.
  2. There is some contradiction in the documentation via your Related Videos link - Gopher says to click the Automatic Archive Invalidation check box and, if I recall, doesn't say much about the Backdate BSA button at all. So if some one came here or to the WIKI from watching the video first... I personally learn better by watching/listening to something - as most people do. School lectures, watching videos. I then find something that I can read to reinforce what I saw/heard. Reading my notes, following your WIKI. If I remember correctly, there is the same issue with cleaning Update.esm and the DLC .esms. He says to select Update.esm and the DLC.esm that you want to clean. You say to just select the DLC.esm. If there is a difference between the two, you should be ready for questions from people that don't have the level of knowledge that you do.
  3. Installed new video card this morning. Memory running at 1361 meg, Vram running at 1627 meg. The other setup had occasional stutters. None so far with new card. GPU temp is running about 20 degrees C cooler! I was hoping for a lower GPU temp, but that surprised me.
  4. Installed ENBoost. Vram dropped slightly 1 gig to 800 meg, system ram dropped from 1722 meg to 702 meg. No CTDs so far. Still waiting for new video card.
  5. Thank you. Any suggestions on a testing regime?
  6. Looking through the tweaks installation list I saw that they decreased frame rate by ~42%. Is there a recommended frame rate that the game should be run? I thought that higher was better. I've been experiencing random CTDs. One time I was sitting still on my horse on a small back trail about half way up a mountain enjoying the view. I thought that I would try some of the ENB efficiency mods/patches ( ENBoost ? ) to see if that would help. I have an AMD Phenom II 3.2 Ghz cpu, 8gig DDR3 ram and a Gforce GTX 550 Ti video card ( 1gig ram ). I should receive a GTX 750 Ti ( 2gig ram and Haswell chip ) tomorrow or the next day. The reviews say that it has twice the performance of the 550 Ti. I have the game installed on a 120gig SSD and the overwrite, mods and webcache folders installed on a 160gig HDD. I only have ~80 mods installed and never have them all activated, depending on the character type I'm playing. Usually about 75. I've been playing Skyrim since it first came out but have been playing it modded for about a year. I'm kinda behind the curve. I'm going to install performance monitors and do some testing on my current video card and then install the new one to see for myself what the difference is. My other question is: do you have a standardized testing procedure that I can use so my testing scheme can be consistent with yours? I would be more than happy to submit my results if you are interested in reviewing them.
  7. Steam's validate cache function will restore any files that should be in the Data folder, so you don't need to worry about mistakenly deleting anything. I seem to remember doing this years ago and afterwards having to run them through TESVEdit. No problem. I still have my notes on how to do that.
  8. No problem, everybody has rough days. I was slightly taken aback when I saw that you have about 2500 posts and you can see that was only my fifth. By that I assume that our respective knowledge levels are quite far apart. I have a lot to learn and I am trying. Have a Bacardi and coke, chillax and remember that courtesy is free and has the best ROI of any investment you will ever make.
  9. GrantSP Sorry, the post referred to NMM installed mods. I only use MO and assumed that it didn't apply. Thank you for your courteous and understanding reply.
  10. I've spent several days looking around trying to find an answer to the question of how to remove unmanaged mods from my MO installed mods list. I try to find the answers to my questions on my own so I can learn better, but this one has me stumped. I've found mods that do the same thing plus additional things and I want to use them instead of the unmanaged mods. Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction so I can read up on it myself ( preferably ) or tell me how to do it if there is no explanation posted? I've been having occasional CTDs and want to first eliminate these unmanaged mods as a possibility. I'm also thinking about installing USLEEP ( Is this a good thing? ) and want to ensure that I have a good clean set of mods installed prior to doing that. The mods I'm trying to eliminate have to do with lock-picking, gauldur's amulet and more descriptive mine map markers. I greatly appreciate any time that you can spare to help me out.
  11. Run launcher, that's why I was getting the missing audio .dll and had to install DirectX to resolve the issue. Hey!!!!! I have the files now. Hopefully I can finally get the game to run. After a wipe and fresh reload of my HDD, I've been working for two days on getting Skyrim running again. Weird stuff, Update and DLC.esm files in my overwrite folder, the fore mentioned .dll issue, getting an error about nxm files not being recognized by Firefox when trying to download mods (did them all manually) and the .ini files. That was my last issue, HOPEFULLY. Thanks loads for your quick response.
  12. When I start Skyrim in MO the game starts but in about a 4 inch box in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I thought it might have something to do with the .ini files. I opened the ini editor and I have a Skyrim.ini file but my prefs file is blank. I seem to recall that if you delete them both and then start Skyrim they will be recreated. I've looked in the Skyrim, Data, documents/My Games/Skyrim and MO folders and can't find either of them. I know that the Skyrim.ini file has to be somewhere or it wouldn't show up in the editor. I couldn't find a reference to their location in the documentation. I'm 62 there is no way that I can play my favorite game in that little box. :: Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. Something that never happened to me before is my virus scanner said that modorganizer.exe was a bad file.
  13. I have MO 1.3.11 installed. Older version listed the installed Mod's currently installed Rev Number and Latest Mod Rev number in columns to the right of the Mod name. This version doesn't do that. I've looked around and can't find a place where it lists the currently installed revision of the mod. Am I missing something?
