Thanks. I had a few patches that I made myself. I guess the masters weren't properlly sorted when I created them. I used Tes5Edit to sort the masters. Thanks for the lead.

So I use BUM and BOSS and all that and I have orange boxes with check marks next to some mods and patches. Â What is the best practice for how to fix these? Â From what I've gathered, I think it's a load order issue, but I wanted to get your advice. Â I have one patch that has the dawnguard.esm 3rd and I thought esps always came after the esm. Â It was SkyRe-USP Patch.esp by the way. Â How do I handle orange boxes on the mod tab?

I keep getting an error when I load a game that new XXX spell books are now available from vendors. It goes an in an infinite loop until i just qqq. Anyone know what the cause may be? I'm amazed by the number of ways i figure out how to screw up my game. I love and hate this game.

Anyone get Hunterborn to work? I had it working a while back but now am getting ctd at main menu. Where are you putting it in your load order?

I spend more time troubleshooting this game than I do playing it. Â It reminds me of when I was experimenting with Gentoo Linux and every week I'd do an upgrade and screw something up and eventually just have to reinstall everything from scratch. There are no references ASIS in SkyTEst, but I'm still crashing at the menu. Â I tried unchecking all the things I had touched to no avail and now I'm just trying to enable things piecemeal but run into all kinds of CTD's. Â I'm not smart enough to mod this game. Â

I added to blocklist, but am still CTD at main menu. Â Do you re-run SUM? Â Going to try now. Â No such luck. Will keep looking.

I installed today the "fixed" installer he uploaded... all worked fine (but I didn't use "integrated FOMOD installer" in MO, just the default one.Yeh, I just d/l'ed and used MO.  I'm not sure what you mean or how to use the "default" one.  I just added the files manually from Main File (Book Covers Comparability). It left out the Dawnguard patch too.

I installed Even Better Quest Objectives 1.3, but it says it requires BetterQuestObjectives.esp. It looks like I have all the patches but not the main file. What gives? I know I'm missing something stupid but I don't get it. It looks like the installer isn't installing the core files. Odd. Anyone else have this?

Bummer. I just tried optimizing the SRO normals. I think I read somewhere that AV requires quite a bit of RAM. I'm wondering if there is some way to measure what files are being utilized in the 3GB...kind of like a task manager -- then focus on those mods. It seems like the number just gets bigger and bigger as you traverse into more areas. It doesn't seem like the memory is being properly freed.

what did you conclude?

I reduced all the textures to less than 2K using Optimizer Textures by AdPimpino to no avail. I reduced my total mod size by 1GB, form 32.1 to 31.1GB. Per Aiyen, I'm going to try finding normals that are above 2MB and target/reduce some to 1K unless someone has a better strategy.

Did you try getting rid of the largereferencecount (or whatever it's called) ini tweak? Try this before you pin it on the 3gb Ram issue. Thanks. I did have that removed that as well as removing the z-fighting tweaks. I actually put it back in just to see if it would help.

I did hit 3013MB going into the Jarl's hall in Dawnstar. I didn't crash, but some of the textures were black. I went back outside and then back in and the game crashed. I think you are right about the 3GB barrier being my problem. I'm going to try optimize everything over 2K as the thread suggests.

I could pick up another 6GB of memory for about $50 or I could try to do more. >>I just read about the 3.1GB rule of thumb. I'm guessing 6GB may be enough.

I finally completed the clean installation of STEP/Skyrim Revisited + SkyRe, et. al.  I'm getting random CTD's.  Sometimes entering new spaces, sometimes randomly.  BTW, the game looks gorgeous and has good FPS.  I'm doing a Stendarr priest alternate start and I want to play! I have Win 7 64-bit and a decent HD7900 video card, no overclocking.  I've loaded mostly 1K (objects) and 2K graphics (landscape).  I'm wondering if my 6GB of system memory is the source of trouble.  What's the best way to tell if this is causing these issues?  How much system memory is ideal?  Of course, it could be a problem with something I've installed or a step I missed.  I do have 300+ installed mods, but it's this site's fault I have this many! I did try taking out the Z fighting edits and the LargeIntRefCount to see if this was causing it.

I think I just figured out the Bring Out Your Dead patch requires Jswords and Immersive Armors & Weapons.Â

Should this guide also include this patch? Now I just rebuild the BASH Patch and run SUM?
