GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback

The Ogg Vorbis Libraries mod seems like a good candidate to be added to the guide. Dramatically decreases CPU usage due to improved audio decoding. I'm seeing halved CPU usage on my 6700K. The Mojave Outpost bar has less severe framerate drops as a result. -

Yup. Also, the Fire Axe Retextured mod is no longer on the Nexus. -

Someone created an update to NVR3 that cleans up a lot of compatibility issues, by eliminating a ton of redundant content and a bunch of other stuff. Makes creating merged patches a lot less tedious. -

Never really used the other aspects of PN, which tended to feel rather gimmicky. Not to mention having to deal with even more compatibility patches. IIRC, Extra Options also caused some sort of memory leak, dunno if it was fixed. Are there any mods similar to Wasteland Clothing HD that cover outfits used by civilians (e.g. caravaneer, field hand)? The ugly vanilla textures tend to stick out against the higher-quality faces. -

Yeah, just realized that the Courier's Stash mod does its job for it. I hadn't completed my installation of mods before testing, which is why the weapon mods weren't showing up. All good now. Also, NVR3 really should be in the guide. The FCO faces lean too much into the uncanny valley IMO, and NVR's a lot more stable now since the original release. Also decided to leave Project Nevada out of my load order, because some of the key aspects of that mod are done far better in other mods now, like item sorting and sprinting. -

The guide says to remove the WMX-POPMerged.esp file, is there a specific reason for this? Without it, the pre-order weapons lack the extra mod slots. -

Thanks. Also is it possible to make it so that an NPC's clothing, if part of a levelled list, will change to another outfit in the same list if you're away from that npc for a period of time? IIRC, npcs with randomly-generated outfits will have the exact same outfits from the very first time you see them. -

In the Geck, how would I go about randomizing the armour that an npc can spawn with? Drag's NCR overhaul adds extra ranger outfits, curious if I can have, say, Ranger Ghost spawn with a random set of ranger clothing instead of the same one each time. -

Loot Menu (F4-style realtime loot selection) IMPACT compatibility (makes compatibility a breeze now, no more having to merge tons of records) There's more stuff in the guide, such as EXE and Unofficial Patch Plus. -

CASM was actually causing stuttering for me. With it installed, my framerate would start at 60, then when spinning around to face the Goodsprings Saloon, it'd dip a bit, then not go above 59fps, resulting in constant microstutter. -

Encountering a strange issue with the GECK. Just popped up today, when I try to change an armour model file with another one from a mod directory within MO, it says "invalid directory". Was working fine yesterday, wondering why it's happening now. -

I'm using the same settings as outlined in the guide for NVSR. -

Referring to this. I get the glitch with hands coming down from the top of the screen when crouching in third person too. Probably an Enhanced Camera bug. The neck seams are bad in vanilla, sure. But they're made even more obvious with some of Type 3's modified armours, which decide to show off more of the skin, and make the problem worse. Will take a screenshot of the LOD thing when I get the chance. -

So Stutter Remover seems to be the cause of the annoying hands bug (where if you aim with your weapon in third person, there's a very high chance of your character's hands warping/disappearing). Setting "bReplaceGetTickCount " and "bInject_iFPSClamp" to 0 fixes it, but also reintroduces the microstutter. -

I see. Thanks for the help. Something else to note. The type3 body replacer isn't exactly optimal. Seems to really highlight female neck seams (see Sunny Smiles), and also brings along other issues such as a lack of blood decals and weird LOD transitions when using the pipboy light and getting closer to a character (noticeable with Trudy).
