  1. This is in my Skyrim.ini file: [GeneralWarnings] SGeneralMasterMismatchWarning=One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information. But, I can't find this .txt file anywhere.
  2. Okay thanks. Your map mod looks awesome, I was just hoping I could tweak the settings it without installing a mod for first playthrough.
  3. Is there a way, or which settings, can I tweak so that I can increase the scrolling dimensions of the world map? I noticed that the default view of the map frequently places icons at inaccurate locations, but scrolling the map to zoom in on the locations near the boundaries isn't possible. Eg. Shadowgreen Cavern, I searched for far too long with no success finding this location until I searched online for more information and looked at Skyrim:Skyrim - The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP) their maps, UESP:Skyrim Map. Edit: I just found A Clear Map of Skyrim and Other Worlds at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) which seems like it will do what I want, but at this point I am just hoping to continue playing my first playthrough without any mods installed.
  4. Yeah, maybe it is the point to not know in Survival Mode. But, I don't get what you mean by subtract. Basic scenario: I wanted to get in some extra skill levels from a trainer before sleeping, sort of a min max strategy I guess.
  5. Hmm, I couldn't find anything useful in the description section. Did you mean in the posts section? I don't have any mods installed other than the AE updates.
  6. I prefer friendly fire enabled because I'm okay with accidently killing my follower/s but not if it's a game bug.
  7. Is there a way to know if my character has levelled up more than once before sleeping? I haven't noticed any sound or visual effect but after sleeping I found I'd levelled up 2 or 3 times more than once.
  8. Especially noticeable at night or indoors in low light, but any movement from still changes the surroundings by increasing some kind of light or brightness. If I stop moving the light disappears again. So, by quickly moving and stopping repeatedly there's a very noticeable flickering effect. But, I can't see the effect in the VOD after streaming it. Any ideas?
  9. Okay, so crime system is just overall wonky...I haven't been to jail yet but reading about it seems strange.
  10. Hmm. I'd prefer to play without saves other than the autosave, but if the aiming isn't accurate this is a problem that I can't chalk up as my bad aim and accept my terrible idea to trying to shoot near my follower. I submitted a ticket on it to Bethesda but the response was to submit again to the feedback department. How often did the game get updates over the years for bugs? I don't like that they're shutting down the forum and moving to Discord only, but maybe Discord is better than I'm believing. The BethINI tweaks has two of the fMagnetism settings to 0 but not the others. I found: Steam Community :: Guide :: Useful Ini Tweaks in which all fMagnetism tweaks are set to 0 but I've found no explanations for what each is. Or by not accurate, you mean there is another factor than fMagnetism settings?
  11. 1. I was attacked by Thalmor Justiciars for giving an answer they didn't like about worship and I ended up killing all three. I got a bounty of 1000. a) I have no idea how the crime was reported considered where the encounter happened seemingly far from anybody else, other than my follower and the prisoner that escaped as a result and I doubt the prisoner reported me. If there is a spoiler aspect to this question avoid the reveal but seems bizarre why the bounty didn't fully reflect the so-called crime. b) I realized I had a bounty only when a guard approached me about it when I got to town. I killed that guard and an additional guard thinking some conspiracy happening but the bounty remained at 1000. c) Why wasn't the original bounty for 3000 since 3 were murdered in the first group? And why didn't the bounty increase when in all likelihood the murder of the town guards would've been noticed?
  12. I killed my follower with an arrow from behind but the follower wasn't in my aiming reticule but when I searched the topic I found some mention of the fMagnetisms but not what they do and if they should all be set to 0. BethINI settings show I have a couple set to 0 but not all. If there is another reason beyond fMagnetism please do tell. The follower was to the right of the aiming reticule. I actually killed 2 followers this way and one was in a cave so I don't think there was a wind variable that could be the cause, but both were killed to the right of where I was aiming.
  13. I used console commands to add an npc, Talsgar the Wanderer, as a follower. For some unknown reason, when inside the WInking Skeever in Solitude after I parted ways with him, he suddenly started shouting and attacking another NPC. Don't know who because the whole tavern got up in arms and they all attacked Talsgar. I guess he was protected status somehow because he couldn't be killed but after I got tired of watching with amusement and bewilderment at what was happening I found I wasn't able to talk with him because of his combat state, again I guess. So, I eventually exited the tavern and when I immediately re-entered, Talsgar was gone, but the barkeep no longer offered me to shop for food. Then I went to the general store across the way and again no shopping dialogue option. Same with the aromatic shop and the blacksmith. I haven't tried all npcs yet because it's nighttime and the cart vendors selling food are done for the day and the garment shop is also closed. I don't seem to have another save to go back before I parted ways with Talsgar. I hadn't thought that much about save file functions until now. Anyway, is there a way I can get the vendor dialogues again by command or action? It's okay if I start a new game I guess but I'd like to try a few more things before I abandon this game if the NPCs will permanently ignore me. I have the SE edition with the AE update only, no mods installed.
  14. Okay, I got BethINI now. And it seems versatile so looking forward to trying it. However, already I was able to confirm what I pasted above that the : fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=9999999.0000 fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=9999999.0000 is part of the default settings. Does it perhaps refer to the boundary of the whole game including the out of bound areas? Or is it actually excessively large?
  15. Okay, thanks now clear. I hadn't comprehended that the whole game wasn't loaded always. I found: Skyrim-Ugrids-Comparison.gif (1920×1200) (nvidia.com) Fallout 4 Graphics, Performance & Tweaking Guide | GeForce | GeForce (nvidia.com) but not yet a visual of what the grids look like when no graphics are loaded. And, one argument or caveat against changing ugrids default setting of 5 because some quests may get triggered before the PC can deal with them: What are uGrids and how do you tweak them? - General Skyrim Discussion - The Nexus Forums (nexusmods.com)
  16. Are there individual toggles by command console or for INI setting for the various scenarios when in-game time is paused? Examples: Reading books, looking at menus for Items, Character Sheet, Magic, NPC dialogues. I have this idea for an immersion mod, perhaps only for multi-monitor setup, where various interaction menus open on the second monitor so that game time persists and player remains vulnerable while they are thinking and deciding or reading. I'll post in the appropriate section for mods and on nexus but include here to provide context.
  17. I actually can't even find "uGridsToLoad" in my INI files. I thought they were there but maybe just my memory is faulty. But, confuses me, because there are many values greater than 20272, so I'm lost what context you're referring to with the number "20272" units.
  18. fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=9999999.0000 fMeshLODFadePercentDefault=1.2000 fMeshLODFadeBoundDefault=256.0000 fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=9999999.0000 fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=9999999.0000 copied from what I currently see in my prefs.ini.
  19. Unfortunately, I didn't log what changes I've made, and whether any of the really high values were there by default. The really high values may be somebody else's recommended settings that I just decided to try, but by randomly changing settings I have encountered some interesting problems which I couldn't fix so I uninstalled the game and why I decided to join the STEP forums.
  20. Okay thanks, I will try variables with NPC and PC distances to items and objects. As for the Whiterun Dungeon sounds, I could hear it as soon as my character landed in the instance through the dungeon door, but I was roleplaying so didn't just try to open up the desk or kill the guards focused only on trying to figure out what the source of the sound is because it seemed more like a bug rather than an intended design. Yes, although I'm interested in mods and mod lists, I more first want to comprehend the settings or the what's, before downloading/installing any mods.
  21. I don't know yet at this point if the parameters are designed so that it's okay to set a value either less than or equal but not greater than, or if it's okay to set a greater than value to provide a buffer or grace zone, because some settings by default are either 6x9 or 1 million, or 7x9 or 10 million, whereas many are only in the 4 digit range. The guides I been looking at: Guide:Skyrim INI - Step Mods | Change The Game (stepmodifications.org) Guide:SkyrimPrefs INI - Step Mods | Change The Game (stepmodifications.org) SkyrimSE:SkyrimPrefs INI - Step Mods | Change The Game (stepmodifications.org) Thanks for the Terrain Manager infos.
  22. I have not looked at a guide from other than the STEP website. I'm okay with the graphics and sound effects behaving oddly, I more or less just curious what the cause might be if known. Thanks for mention of SSE Display Tweaks.
  23. Interested in INI tweaks as I'm playing through first time and don't want to download mods yet so I get a sense of the game first. Browsing through the INI and INIPrefs guides for both Skyrim and Skyrim SE but I have some questions. Some of the images uploaded don't seem to match the section they are posted in. Sometimes I make changes to the INI or INIPrefs files but don't notice any change in-game. What am I missing or doing wrong? I'd like to crank up the graphics beyond Ultra presets but wondering the best way to go about testing the variables, whether to use MOD2 or not. Is there a theoretical max for how much render and terrain distance the game will allow? I'm wondering how the "Ultra" presets were arrived at and guessing they are outdated. Will a new guide be required for AE or is there really no significant change from SE? Thanks
  24. I haven't installed any mods yet as this is my first playthrough but I found this website and the useful guides wondering if this might be an acceptable place to ask a question not specifically related to the STEP install. I can see the items jumping from food tables like plates, but also when I found myself in the Whiterun Dungeon there was a very loud and fast repeating sound like something inside the guard's desk was jumping up and down.
