  1. I just upgraded my laptop this summer to the new Alienware M18, it comes with Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 880M graphic cards with 16GB total (2x 8GB) GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI® Enabled and 32 GB system Ram. So while yes "technically" it is only 8GB useable it is still a total of 16 GB sitting in my system. After playing around with SMC for about a week or so I can totally see what you are saying. I prefer to have a lot more control on what is being combined, etc. and there are a lot of redundant mods that are mostly just personal preference. So I can see why just adding it to the main STEP setup would not make a lot of sense for ppl that do not know a lot about how mods work and/or have experience using the tools like Mod Organizer, etc. It is really a handy tool though since it has the Compatibility section to help find out what you need to make different mods work together. Thanks for the input, it is greatly appreciated. Now I am off to find a post somewhere that will explain why my Memory Blocks.log stopped seeing the skse.ini in Mod Organizer. :D
  2. I see this topic ended around July of this year and I was curious if anyone from the S.T.E.P crew was still looking into this program for addition to the process.I took a break from Skyrim for about a year and after a new uber laptop and clean install I am trying to add newer mods or newer versions of mods from what I have done in the past. Although I have 16GB Vram and 32GB of system ram I still do not know how much better it is going to make Skyrim with it's engine limitations, etc. I just stumbled across this mod when I was looking for newish AV mods and I can say that I am definitely intrigued. I am a modding glutton when it comes to Skyrim and cleaner, tighter, more beautiful textures is really my biggest downfall. I am only a quarter of the way into setting up my mods for Skyrim and I already have a 25 GB mod folder in MO. I have used S.T.E.P. for pretty much every Skyrim run I have started but the one thing that I dread the most is having to go through all of the texture upgrades and organizing them properly. I think looking into SMC would definitely be worth the time for most S.T.E.P users. I am very curious as to what you all think of it (pros/cons).
  3. If you are using a laptop with the Integrated card AND Nvidia card along with Optimus. Make sure that you follow the instructions from the Speed and Stability Guide for ENB on the Nexus. He is has helped STEP with the Texture optimization and Memory Patch stuff in the past. The only reason I point you there instead of STEP's ENBOOST section is that is has a more detailed description of how to install the Injector version of Enboost. Just scroll almost all the way down to the bottom of the page and you will see the Injector Guide section. Although reading the entire Guide will also help in understanding why's and how's of stabilizing Skyrim. Before you do anything though delete the d3d9.dll file from the main <Skyrim> directory. That is what is causing Enboost and Skyrim from not seeing your Nvidia card. You will have to use the files from the Injector folder instead of the Wrapper folder. And yes after setting this up you will have to start the Enbinjector.exe file before you launch Skyrim but it takes less than a half second to click on it and hit the Hide in Tray button. Just right click on the icon in the tray and click on Exit when you are finished playing Skyrim. Hope this helps. I was having the same problem and it took me forever to figure out what the problem was because I did not realize that Geforce Experience was "Optimus". :)
  4. UPDATE: I was re-browsing the Quick Start Guide section of the DDSopt guide and the screenshot for the directory results does include the new process structure. It just was not updated in the detailed instructions section. So issue resolved. E. "Fairness Is An Illusion We Do Not Provide Here..." - NLM
  5. Sorry if this has been answered already, I checked through the first page of threads to see if anyone addressed or was having a similar issue and I did not see this particular issue I am having. I have uninstalled Skyrim, cleaned up my system of any links, registry entries, etc. and I am starting out with a completely clean install of Skyrim Mod Organizer and STEP's latest version. I am at the Organizing the Vanilla Textures for Selective Optimization / Pre-Optimization stage. I just ran the 2_Pre-Optimization_2.7.bat file and it seemed to run smoothly and the log.txt came back with no errors and 16 blank lines. The issue that has me a little perplexed is that when I compare the new File Structure to the example you have listed in the instructions it does not completely match. Instead of looking like this: It looks like this: It has added the HRDLC3 folder to Vanilla Optimized and Vanilla Uncompressed Textures. All of the new folders with the exception of the HRDLC3 in the new File Structure matches the File Structure and Sizes listed in the Working Folder example screenshot referenced at the bottom of the page's instructions. Have I done something wrong or are the DDSopt Optimization Of Vanilla Textures instructions not up to date with the latest STEP process? I have been extremely meticulous about following the instructions exactly but obviously the results have come out different. I do not want to move forward even though I received no errors on the Pre-Opt. process and have exactly 16 blank lines but there are two additional folder locations. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: I ran the program in "Run As Administrator" E. "Fairness Is An Illusion We Do Not Provide Here..." - NLM
