Tried a new windows login, and while that may be the "Best" option for some people it is not for me. I forgot that I had made several changes to Windows 10 to lock it down, and it seems that having another login reverts those changes and reestablishes links. Now I have a ton of windows junkware again :(

Question: Is it possible to have 2 different versions of Skyrim SE installed at the same time? For example a 1.5.39 version as D:/steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition v1.5.39 and then the 1.5.50 version as D:/steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition I would also do the same in the Documents/games/Skyrim Special Edition folder renaming and making 2 different ones. I was also going to install MO2 and tools for each version using the path to the version I wanted. I know this would work as far as Steam is concerned because it will no longer see the renamed version so it will not update it. But do you guys see any problems with other tools or MO2 having a problem with this setup?

@jimbosi Every time I had this happen with this guide it was because I forgot to uncheck something in the left pane that was included in a merge or I forgot to update/edit the metadata in LOOT. I would go back and check those two things. I would also check the special instructions in the guide for editing/updating the metadata in LOOT for all of those to make sure you added them to the correct groups. Sorry if you already know this, just trying to help.

Maybe this might be worth a look? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19940 Simple Follower Manager. I have been using it in my own load order for a day or so and it allowed me to get rid of a few other mods like MHIYH (My Home is your home), SOM (Simple outfit manager), iAFT and Patches. It seems to be light weight and works really well so far. The only drawback for me is that it only allows for a max of 10 followers at a time. The mod author is looking at expanding it. I usually only use Inigo, Cortex Followers and maybe one or two more so this works well for me in my personal load out. It can be used in conjunction with custom followers without messing up their AI according to the author and some have reported using it with AFT or EFF. The outfit manager also allows for setting up weapons and jewelry per outfit. Just a heads up.

I know what Kneph13 said is hard to hear but it is true. Just go back and double check everything again. I am on my third go around myself and I swear I find something I missed every time I go over it again. The guide is huge, so things are easily missed. Make sure you follow it exactly because many steps depend on you doing something a certain way in a previous step. If you made any substitutions or omissions you should probably ask here first because of the many dependencies in merges and patches etc... Also make sure you check the change log often especially if you are still installing the mods. Thanks for this, it did clean things up quite a bit. I am almost ready to launch, but I still have 2 errors reported by LOOT that I thought would have been covered. Relationship Dialogue Overhaul.esp ------> This plugin is incompatible with AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp", but both are present. Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp ------> This plugin is incompatible with "Dawnstar.esp", but both are present. There are still a few warning messages also that really don't make sense. Most have to do with patches that I know are installed via merged patches and fmod options that I picked during installation. It is almost like only part of the merge is being read for some reason. One last question, are there any esps that should not be cleaned that do not say so already? Like Convenient horses has 4 that should not be cleaned. Thanks again to everyone for the help. Does anyone know if the Bethesda update did anything except making changes to fix creation club stuff? I mean did they make any engine changes? Once I get stable I just want to play for a few weeks. Should I even worry about updating? Thank you very much, those are some great tips. I will probably end up reinstalling everything again in a month or so and I will definitely use some of your methods then.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I will apply the advice you have given. I re-learned a valuable lesson, do not do things that require concentration when you are tired or drunk. The end result is usually bad. After a good nights sleep everything is looking much better and I am set to finish the guide today. Thanks again!

OK, I am at a loss and I am almost out of hair to pull out. I have done everything through the merges and I still have 405 esp. I can't sort with loot because it randomly drops a few hundred. I can't go further without at least sorting the load order. I have so many errors about missing masters and cyclic rules that I can't figure them all out. I think this is because they are not getting loaded. Should I just scrap and start over? Have I missed something? Should I have been making my own merges? I know it is probably something really basic, but like I said I am out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is "Go read page 3 again Idiot!"

Thanks again, I may just wait for a week or two and start over. I really like doing this anyway, It is almost as fun as actually playing the game itself to me. Thanks to you and your guide I have been exposed to several mods that I had forgotten about or was unaware of. It will probably take me a day or so to go back and endorse them all. I am learning so much, and I am very thankful that you all have created this guide. I have been so excited about this upcoming playthrough that I have even gotten a few friends back into the game. I still have an old profile that I can play for now, and with what I have learned I can improve on my mod load out in that one. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your quick response! There are a few more things that I have noticed like files that have been updated. I usually just use the matching older files. There is one that has been updated that may cause problems though. [Expanded Towns and Cities (SSE)] Has been updated to version 0.3.8 with no older file available. The mod author seems to have added several things. It is also marked as core so I really don't want to skip it. One further note, after installing this version MO2 crashed. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the file or not, just an FYI to those who know far more about this stuff than I do. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13552?tab=files Thanks again for the swift reply, I guess you know how it is when you are in the middle of a project and hit a bump in the road. Since I am currently using the guide would you like a list of files that have been updated or have changed from what is in the guide? It would be no problem since I am doing it now.

Thank you all for the excellent guide. I am having two problems at the moment that are keeping me from moving on to the next step in the guide. Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask these questions. [Veydosebrom - Grasses and Groundcover] is currently hidden by the mod author. Since it is marked as core and is included in trees and fauna merged how should I proceed? [unique Border Gates SE] Is posted in the Skyrim SE section of the Nexus. Does it still need to be converted? I have been working through your guide for the last few days and find it very well done. Thank you for doing what you do.
