GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
TomtinBreeX replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Does everyone's game here get really laggy/bogged down/low fps when they enter the strip or casinos? I figured it would since so much is happening but I am just curious about others. Also, ED-E disappeared randomly? I had to uninstall 'More Perks' and the like from my game because I missed a texture bit during the installation process. The mod still worked I just didn't get the pictures of the pipboy when scrolling through the perks. Anyways, I removed the mod completely. Started up my game, let it run for about a min and then made a clean save. Once I did that, I installed the mod correctly, ran LOOT, re-built the bashed patch and then started the game again. When I go into the game, he just randomly disappeared. He no longer showed up in my companion short cut. I know you can spawn him via console command but i'd rather get him the real way. Also, it says 'ED-E' on my map and its marked at the location where he disappeared. I go there and its just nothing. So I go to that console near the strip and dismissed all my companions in the hope that whenever I get the player housing, he'll be there. I read up on it and it appears to be a common bug that people experience. Anyone have any advice on how to remedy it? -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
TomtinBreeX replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I am curious, I followed the guide all the way and everything works but I am having a hard time maintain a constant 60fps with my game. I mean, I know NV is super unstable and I know its buggy but I can't even maintain a steady 60fps most of the time. I have all the mods install in the guide correctly and I have included the Enhanced Shaders NS version. I have it on the High quality preset. If I unlock my fps, I get in the ranges of 90-100fps but i can see drops down to ~34 sometimes. Its random but it drops and it can be jarring. Its quite annoying as even the stutter remover doesn't seem to work all that well at times. I have tried so many things just to get my game to run at a constant 60fps with MINIMAL dips. Is that even possible with this guide? I am genuinely curious. Do any of you, with beastly machines, still run into issues and being unable to achieve a steady 60fps? My pc set up: gtx 780ti (3gb Vram), i7-4770k (stock), z97 mobo, 8gb ram, win 8.1. Game is on max performance in the Nvidia inspector. Geforce Experience is off. Steam overlay is off. MSI afterburner is off. I have tweaked settings, suggested by users, to help keep a steady fps but its seemingly impossible at the moment. TL;DR: Is anyone, with a monster machine, able to run this game at a constant 60fps with MINIMAL dips. -
1) I have not disabled Geforce Experience. I didn't think about that. I will when I get home. I know I disabled steam which supposedly is supposed to help. 2) Okay so this is something I did yesterday. I usually do this with most games too. So for the Nvidia Inspector, you click 'add' next to the game and browse your folders for the game data folder. Instead of 'adding' FalloutNV.exe, I added '4GBFNVLoader.exe'. Was that wrong? I am confused by what you mean by adding the FalloutMO.exe and 4GBLoader to the New Vegas Profile. Do you mind clarifying that for me please? 3) I am not sure to be honest. When I get home from work, I will make sure to change some of these settings around to test it out. Yea, I figured out the resolution. it wasn't as difficult as I explained it to be so ya...I feel stupid now lol. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much of a boost to the FPS when I lowered the resolution :/, which doesn't make much sense, does it? In regards to your suggestion about setting "EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=true", I'll have to try it after work today. The stuttering is really really strange though. I am not sure if its caused by the amount of mods enabled (I doubt it) or if the game just runs really poorly (which I wouldn't doubt). Another odd occurrence I discovered yesterday was that the game starts to stutter whenever I open up the inventory screen whether its when I loot someone or something. Its really strange. The background music/sound will sort of repeat like a broken record for about 3 seconds and then the game will sort of unfreeze and go back to normal. Also, I noticed that my GPU (running MSI afterburner) was slowly lowering its load. At first it was around ~98% but it would slowly dip to ~60% then eventually ~20%.... Maybe its time for a cleaning of the GPU? In terms of the ENB, okay that's good to know. I didn't know that and I guess I am doing the ENB correctly then. Its weird, the only "change/addition" I've added to the game (from the guide) is the FCO eye bug fix (which I wonder why its not added to the guide in the first place) and the ENB. I also disabled Alt Start because I haven't beaten this game before/ played more than 10 hours of it, which isn't a lot when you think about it. I've also made sure that all the executables have the needed modifications to it, like you suggested.

Sorry if this is random, but I agree with what people are saying about how jarring the change in weather is with NS so If I were to uninstall it via MO but leave everything enabled-like the finished guide has it, will it screw up my game? Say I uninstall NS and install RWL, will all I have to do is run LOOT, I guess create a new bashed patch and then I'll be good to go? -
So, like most threads here, I followed the F&L guide perfectly, to the T, they'd say and I did. The game works and looks great but I have a few concerns but I am not sure if it is common and I just have to accept that it will happen eventually. Frist of all, my game does crash from time to time. I am not sure if this is normal since I know FNV is notorious for bugs, etc. but my game will sometimes crash to desktop or freeze and I'll have to log out of that session. Since I followed the guide, I have the anti-crash mods and all that jazz to hopefully prevent this from happening, but it still happens from time to time. Second, stuttering. No I have FNV stutter remover, but the game does experience some dips here and there. I am not sure if its just pockets of fps loss that I encounter during the game or if its actual stuttering from the game. I have a good PC (780ti, 8GB RAM, z79 mobo, i7-4770k (stock)) so playing this game shouldn't be an issue but with the ENB and mods installed, theres no doubt I will experience some fps loss. I am just curious to know whether this is normal or not. Third, since I am using an ENB, I know in the guide, it says to place the .DLL file into the 'exes' folder that 4GB FNV Loader creates. First off, when I put that file in the main game directory, it never made a 'exes' folder. Well, okay, just create one. So I did and FalloutNV was placed in there after I started a game. The thing is, if I place the ENB .dll in that folder, the ENB does not work. Its only when I have the .DLL file in the main directory will the ENB work. I know the guide mentions that 'some users have experienced issues with the ENB and 4GB Fallout NV mod running together' but I am not sure if I am experiencing problems because of this or if its just a random bug. Does anyone know if I am doing this wrong or if I am just one of the lucky ones where I can get them to work properly. Lastly, and probably my most noobish questions, as I probably should know this, I have a 1440p monitor but I would like to run the game in 1080p so I can gain some extra FPS. That being said, I don't know how to go about it and when I do 'change' it, I can't tell the difference in game so it leads me to think that I am not actively turning down the resolution. Do I launch the NV launcher and change it there? Or do I go to the .ini files and change it there? Or do I just change all of them? There is the fallout.ini, falloutpref, and then the .ini file in the root folder, which I suspect to be the one the launcher goes after. How do I change all of this? I appreciate any and all help. Thank you!

Random question about Windows 10. Has anyone downloaded Win 10 and encountered a problem with the guide? I have Win 8.1 currently and all is working fine I just want to make sure that upgrading the OS won't destroy everything I have worked on, lol. -
So this part in the mod guide really confuses me and I have noticed that when I did this, it caused my game to crash: Can you explain the adding to master bit? First of all, in the guide you mention "Open FNVEdit, then right click the list of mods and "Select None", now tick "SRB's Additional Weapons.esp" and click [OK]". when you do this, you don't get the option to click ADAM? You have to actively select ADAM to show up but you don't mention that in the guide.

Additional Weapons Packs result in red triangles

If you haven't found a solution to this problem, I had it and I solved it by ticking "copy general assets" in the merged tutorial or set up bit. Make sure you go back into the merged files 1.9 start up where you find the MO folder and such and make sure its ticked to work and copy over the assets. -

Sorry, this is from the previous page but I just wanted to make sure someone saw it- Hopefully this will be my last question since I feel like what I am asking is common sense to most people butttt since my merged files did not copy over any of the assets, can I simply go into MO's left pane, delete all the merged files I made during the guide, re-enable the mods that will be merged, boot up FNVEdit and create a merged file all over again. Once that is created, just place it back in the place where the old merged file use to be. Would that affect my game save at all? The reason I am asking is last night I discovered I hadn't ticked 'copy general assets' in the mod script 1.9 first-time tutorial so I literally had the mods merged but they didn't include textures, sounds or anything. I was literally shooting an invisible, completely silent, beretta yesterday and just clicking and creating bullet holes in the wall, lol. Once I remade the merged file, while I didn't do the no cheat clean up, all the guns appeared (for Millena's extra weapons) in Doc Mitchell's house. I guess bottom line is If I still have the mods in my left pane of MO, can I uninstall and remove merged mods, without disrupting my game at all? Also, I am guessing if this is done, I would need to create a brand new bashed file too? Thanks all, I really appreciate the patience you have with me haha. -

Yooo, that happened to me yesterday. Its probably your merged files that you made during the guide. My problem was that I didn't copy over any of the general assets during the merging process. Make sure, when you are going through the merging process, that you have the "copy general assets" ticked. You basically have all the mods merged into that file but didn't copy over any of the texture and sound files, etc. That's what worked for me at least and I was getting the same thing in my game. -

Does anyone know a fix for this? it first appeared on an enemy who i killed and when I equip it, it does the same. photos are in imgur link. https://imgur.com/a/k5LKG/all Please help me out! I should mention that this was when I was equipped with the beretta -

So...emm...again with another question but I just started up a game and I wasn't given all the DLC gear and missions like I got before. They are enabled in MO and their plugins are ticked so why aren't they showing up? Anyone know? Unless, during the mod install guide, we disabled them so that you stumbled upon them in your quests and didn't start out with OP gear (i dont know if its op) lol. -

Sorry if this is a stupid question but can I delete the mods from MO's download file? My game is complete and all the mods are installed properly. Deleting the contents of the download folder will not affect my game, correct? I want to free up some space on my SSD, which is almost full now. -
Start Menu missing/ Cannot skip intro movies. Please help
TomtinBreeX replied to TomtinBreeX's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Yea, so I got it to work. So it was SRB's merged patch and ADAM complete since it had to be placed before SRB's or something. -
I have finished the guide and, like everyone, i followed the guide to the T. After the guide is complete, in total, if every mod is enabled i have about 211 mods. Plug-ins, without the bashed file is 143. With the bashed file, and how it takes some plugins away, I have a final number of 115. Here is the my load order: Anyways, I boot up MO and and go to the 4GB Loader and the game starts up but I have to watch the movies and cannot skip to the main screen. Once it gets the main screen, I have no menu. The music just plays and I have to log out of windows in order for it to go away. The mods without a number in the load order are the ones without a tick next to them. Please let me know if you know the issue. This is the 3rd time i have tried installing this game with mods.... Its got to be a mod too thats causing the issue. I can boot up the 'default' copy with no issue.

So... sorry for the 21 questions and all, but I have come across my first issue. I suspect its due to the amount of mods installed on the game. So I can boot up the game via MO and it goes through all the loading screens like Obsidians, please wait, etc. At the title screen where you can either click continue, new, load, etc. I get nothing...Its just the picture of the guy with the gun and the music plays. it doesn't seem to end. Is the game just loading everything or is something wrong? I am at the 'Poosh' bit of the mod guide, if that helps. I'd appreciate any and all help! Thanks My specs: i7-4770k (stock) gtx MSI 780ti (stock) z97 MSI mobo 8GB Ram So I finished the guide (for some reason) and its still continuing to do this. I switched back to an earlier 'working' copy that i made of the game and it did the same thing but it said it was missing a master? Also, i don't know if this matters but my invalidation.bsa is greyed out and i can't move it. Its supposed to go up at the top of the top bsaes right? -

Okay, phew. I sort of figured it would be like that but okay great. So if i follow the mod guide perfectly and install the mods as the guide goes, I should be good to go? Okay, well that really helps me out, I appreciate it! Also, and this is a bit random, but for the holster mod. I downloaded the regular holster mod and then the retexture and unpackaged it as the guide suggests. Was I supposed to 'merge' or overwrite the original holster mod or is there supposed to be two holster mods in the left pane, the retexture or mesh one after the first holster mod? Sorry, I don't have the names but hopefully you get what i am trying to get at, lol. -

Hi all, Does anyone have a good, completed F&L guide where they have ironed out all the priorities of the mods in the left pane of MO? I have been following the guide to the 'T' and I have only installed the mods as they come in the guide but I am still presented with many conflicts and lightning icons. The game works and looks great so far but I am curious if my mods are set up correctly in their priorities. I know it has to do with personal preference but I have never played FNV so preference doesn't really matter to me. Could someone paste their left pane here so I can copy it? lol. I know there are a bunch of videos to watch about priorities but most suck and Gopher, although helpful, talks so damn slow, lol. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! Great guide btw! -
So I know without pictures you're pretty much guessing what I am talking about so I will try to explain as best as I can the problem that I am having. Plus I am at work and can't supply you with pictures. Anyways, I have been following EssArrBee's mod guide "Fear and Loathing in FNV" and it has been going well so far. I am following all the directions to the 'T' (I think) and the game is becoming heavily modded fast. So my problem is solely this and its not even really a "problem" its more of an annoyance and it makes me think something is off. When I am in MO and go to the executables and start the 4GBFNV button, the game begins but all I get for about 15-20 secs is a black square in the top left of my screen, like the game is about to start and it just stays there. After about 20 secs or so, then box enlarges and takes of my entire screen and starts the game up. Though the game sort of lags along and sort of stutters the beginning screen where I pick my load and such. It wasn't do this before but I have a few suspicions as to why its doing this. First being the texture mods. I want to say those might be bogging down my system. Even though I have a beastly system and the game is installed on my SSD, I feel like its taking so long to load the textures but I could be wrong. Also, I only installed the Medium versions of the NMC texture mods. I also installed the ojo's (sp?) texture pack too. Basically, I have installed everything up until the end of the texture bit on the mod guide. Everything is loaded into MO like the guide suggests so I am a bit confused as to why its doing this. I figured I would disable all the mods, like you can do in MO, and run the game that way, but again the game hangs like it did when I had all mods enabled. I don't understand whats going on. The only changes to my actual root FNV folder is the installation of ENB boost plus the MO folder and the other small injection mods needed to mod the game. I will post this onto the forum for the guide but I honestly have no clue what is going on. Prior to downloading the texture packs and everything, I stopped at the mod for the Bison Hotel or whatever its called and the game started up almost immediately so something is causing this, I just don't know what yet. Please help if you can. Specs: Windows 8.1 8GB RAM z97 msi mobo Gtx MSI 780ti i7-4770k (stock)

GUIDE FNV Guide - Info and Feedback

I saw a little bits of discussion about NVSE flashlight being used. Are any of you using this mod? Its the most popular flashlight mod out there and I feel like it should be included to the guide because Nevada Skies can be quite dark. That being said, when I installed it, I did it after the whole NMM part of the guide and I keep on getting this error message that I must unistall MCM then reinstall the flashlight mod but I am not sure how to do that now that I have finished the guide and finished the part where you import your NMM mods to MO. Can anyone shed any light on this? (no pun intended) Sorry if this has been touched on in the last few pages
