I'd like to again advocate that you build this new guide out using our infrastructure. Else, it will be converted later anyway, which will be a painstaking task for us. Doing this will benefit other FO guide creators, including yourself. It is no more work to set up the guide to use the infrastructure and significantly reduces the work required to update and create new guides. See our Portal page to get started. Feel free to post a new topic on the forums to get staff assistance. See this topic created by Majorman for some useful tips. ~z929669 Talk 18:58, June 8, 2021 (UTC)
- hello again. Like I said over yonder thread, "I'm a little worried about the STEP ModGroups categories constricting or conflicting with my guide's structure, which is also comprised of categories and sections, and I like my categories and sections." But I also understand that you're trying to make things easier for scrubs like me. I'll stop the tedious business of pasting all the specifics for each mod in to my guide forthwith, for starters. Now lets see if I can at least tilden my username (...nope) --Boycad (talk) 07:26, June 12, 2021 (UTC)
- In wiki conversations, use colons for each response to indent a bit further (I did this in both responses). Four tildes in a row gives you your sig at the end. Anyway, go back and read through that topic and this topic. Darklocq is also using the infrastructure to update our official SkyrimLE guide and may also produce an unofficial version, so read through this topic as well. Our ModGroup categories are derived from years of XP creating guides. They do not interfere with guide constructions and are really not limiting at all with proper handling. Besides, by doing this, the mod pages created are available for other guides. It makes guide creation via forks much easier. If you want to join Majorman (FalloutNV) and Darklocq (SkyrimLE) in curating an official or unofficial Fallout4 guide, it does make things much easier for yourself and others down the road. You will also get the "Fallout4 Curator" badge in the forums and our help in creating your guide of course. Anyway, most everything is explained in the topics I linked. We can get a Fallout4 1.0.0 development topic started for you for Q&A once you have a grasp of those topics. ~z929669 Talk 14:45, June 12, 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. Tilden is the rental car company, I realize :/
- Those formatting tips are helpful. Im still working on the rest. lol the badges... On that, here's a little story. I ran in to a sort of regulator on Wikipedia once, one guy who was filthy with badges. Tourism type contributions exclusively. Pictures on The Summer Palace page, for instance. He erased some important stuff, stuff I had worked hard to research and write, for no other trivial reason than state security, I guess. I expect he was connected to the PRC Pubic Security thing, because it had to do with the infrastructure of Beijing, its residential heating system, so because it was factual and little known, it was dangerous to have as foreign public knowledge. True story. Scout's honour. But the point is, it was super annoying, and I've been a little disdainful of badges ever since. I dont know if that makes sense or not. Anyways,I'll turn this all over for a while.
- I dont put very many hours in to this, please understand.
- One thing i can be clear on right now is that I wouldn't want to start myself a Fallout 4 1.0.0 guide, though I would gladly join one. But these days, my focus is on makin a guide with a distinct and clear emotional and cultural style. If you can believe it.
- Have you looked at my WIP guide, so far as it is? Would you like to?
- Also, I have one specific question. I have a custom FO4 skeleton I would like to submit for testing, once I have the author's explicit permission (I didnt make it). Its seems to be, or claims to be, a Max Compatibility Skeleton. What would be the best way to do that? Start Here? https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Special:FormStart?form=Mod&namespace=Fallout4&page_name= (<<its internal...)
- Also, I would like to get ahead of everything and create or see created a mod page for this guy: Lively's Keyword Resource. | Boycad (talk) 10:48, June 13, 2021 (UTC)
