MO 1.3.11 Hang/Freeze at anytime

Ombragine

Question

HI !

MO was working fine under my previous Laptop (a ROG Win10 64 with latest Intel/Nvidia drivers 950M).

Really no problems. Works fine !

I manage to move everything under a new laptop (a MSI Win10 64, latest Intel/Nvidia drivers GTX 970M) and MO has started to freeze, hang

Important : Launch Skyrim with SKSE Loader under MO (Hook) with mod works fine.
The freeze is only when using MO (Install mods, delete mods, etc...).

I try to solve by myself without any sucess !

  • Fresh Video card drivers
  • Fresh Framework NET etc...
  • A complete new Mod Organizer install inside different folder.
  • A complete new MO profile without any mod downloaded or installed.
  • Requested MO to use Nvdia card video instead Intel card video
  • Refresh Categories etc...
  • Take care about authorization folder permission etc...

Still hang. I must use the task manager and kill process.

Remarks :

  • Freeze starts when MO open a tooltips under the mouse.
  • Secondary form likes "Modifiy Excecutables" can not be closed.

Something seems wrong with UI...

Hervé.

No other logs are created? What about any crash dumps in the MO folders? Sorry but withouit anything specific to diagnose any attempt to offer help will just be guesses.

There are no extraneous requirements for MO to run in Windows 10, no need to install anything extra at all, so any issues with dependencies that you might have will be due to an incomplete Windows install.

I had the same sort of issues when I first installed MO again after getting a new SSD. Reinstalling MO, nothing helped. I was having driver issues at the time as well (after downloading all the latest drivers on a fresh Windows install), so I just re-installed Windows again, didn't download any new drivers except the video card, and MO worked fine.

Not to say that your problem will require an OS re-install, but I just wanted to share my experience.

HI !

No other log GrantSP.

I know that is really difficult to help in this case.

Yes Nebulous112, i think the same.

Thanks for the share.

I found errors in Event System

Sorry it is French language but you will understand.

Nom de l’application défaillante ModOrganizer.exe, version : 1.3.11.0, horodatage : 0x55eaff0b
Nom du module défaillant : SHELL32.dll, version : 10.0.10586.11, horodatage : 0x5645737d
Code d’exception : 0xc0000005
Décalage d’erreur : 0x0022a96c
ID du processus défaillant : 0x1dac
Heure de début de l’application défaillante : 0x01d140227935ea9b
Chemin d’accès de l’application défaillante : C:\Games Management\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\ModOrganizer.exe
Chemin d’accès du module défaillant: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SHELL32.dll
---

So something is wrong with Shell32.dll but Shell32.dll, as you know, manages a lot things inside Windows.

Really, i do not think that is a MO issue, only the result but what...

I will re-install OS, i hope it will solve.

Thanks a lot guys ;-)
