Combat Freezing but cannot fix due to Extended Patch

I am getting game freezing during combat, particularly in brawl situations.

 

I have read that this can be fixed by removing script heavy mods such as enhanced blood textures. However I cant remove enhanced blood due to it being a requirement of the STEPS extended patch.

 

The game locks up on the loading screen if I try and remove the steps extended patch, or replace it with the core patch.

 

What would be the best way to fix the freezing then?

You can remove EBT from the extended patch using TES5Edit. Search the forums using Advanced search and you should find this discussed. Basically you would modify the patch by removing the records that reference EBT vs. vanilla assets and then using Clean Masters to remove EBT from the patch. Note that this mod by itself is not likely to be the primary source of game freezing.
