Can't move after character creation and game crash

I followed to SR:LE guide and the game loads fine albeit a bit slow, after i create my character i start in the cabin but i can't move, i can turn the camera and look in any direction i just can't move. If i tab out and back in i can now move fine, but after choosing my alternate start and doing what i need to start the game will get stuck at the loading screen for a long time and eventually crashes. I've been through the guide twice to make sure i haven't missed anything, and i'm pretty sure i've done everything as written. Any help will be appreciated.
