Now, my problem is that recently I started getting this error message when playing Skyrim, that my computer ran out of memory and I should save my data and close the program (Skyrim). It never happend to me before. I checked my memory usage and I'm getting 0 available RAM.

When I start my operating system, Cached memory gets filled right away and I have around 300 MB of free RAM! I don't know much about this stuff, so if anyone can suggest any troubleshooting or can offer any advice I'll be most grateful.

Here's the screen taken about 15 mins after I logged in to Windows. No programs were run apart from Chrome to open the forums, FastStone Capture to make the screenshot and Speccy to get the specs. I have Skype, Steam, uTorrent, Dropbox and Copy running in the background in addition to a few standard Windows system tasks.

Aiyen, you may have a faster standard HDD then I do, and faster data transfer/CPU etc. overall.

Intel i3570k, Radeon HD6850 1 GB VRAM, 8 GB System RAM, Windows 7/64 bit, SanDisk 120 GB SSD, 1 TB Standard HDD

I don't have the specs handy on my 1TB drive, but at the time I bought it, I was after space and affordability not speed. My SSD is only 120 GB so I was reluctant to put a page file on it but that resolved my dilemma with slow load times...none of which were infinite loading screens...just annoyingly long cell transitions.

Thansk Kulde, it's good info! Well, I have purchased Windows 8.1, so I'll be making a fresh install tomorrow or at some point this week and see what happens. I also plan to purchase an SSD for my Skyrim installation (I currently have Windows 7 installed on an SSD, but it's only 64GB and I'm always running low on space there, sadly. I am unable to point page file to that SSD, as I get a message saying there is not enough space. There is less than 5 GB left.

I'll chalk it up to you having faster overall transfer rates from your CPU/GPU and more RAM, probably much faster as well. :) Yes, at the end of the day, mechanical drives haven't seen any huge performance gain in an eternity by relative computing standards.

Just to be sure you understood me roots (not that it's looking like you'll need to if you're doing a complete wipe that is) I was suggesting running it (Malwarebytes) from Safe Mode preferabbly from a clean USB thumbdrive (portable install) if as you say you have Malwarebytes installed already then I would try using AdAware (I think you can still run it in Safe Mode) or Spybot SAD if that doesn't work.

I haven't had any problems like needing to worry about a program I need running from my clean thumbdrive, I do something similar to this.

Link

Only it has Cyberfox Portable and several other goodies not mentioned in said link such as a brute force password cracker... of course I also usually keep a Live DVD/CD with a copy of one or two Linux distros around with me in my laptop case and one of said Distros may or may not be Backtrack.

Some good tips in that link, phazer, thanks!

Yeah, I am actually going to do a clean installation, including full format of my system drive, so I think that there's no need to do a scan. Hopefully the reinstall will resolve my issues, I'm eager to start using Windows 8.1!

If the issue persists, I'll just burn my PC...
