Enhanced Distant Terrain conflict

Question

Posted

So, there's an enhanced distant terrain in 2F. There's also one in 2G. When I tried to install the second one, I got a conflict about the mod already existing. Is this a case where I let it replace? Or should I have added with a different name? It didn't seem like what normally happens with NMM where you just replace the conflicting textures..

Thanks for the help.

Sorry to bump but.. does anyone have an answer to this? These two mods have the exact same name (though they seem to be different mods). Is it ok just to rename it when I install the second one?

Section F says Enhanced Distance Terrain 2 and section G says Enhanced Distance Terrain. I'm assuming that they cover different things since they are both by the same author and because the STEP Team spent many hours on the distant objects and LODs for the last guide update.

Right, but when you actually go to install them, the files are exactly the same name. So I got a conflict when I went to add the second one. That's why I'm wondering if I just need to change the label name on it so it doesn't conflict.

Oh you mean that Mod Organizer names them the same thing so you need to manually input the names EDT and EDT2 or whatever you are happy with. Yeah, that is pretty common with MO so just keep an eye out when it tries to install mods with the name of one that already exists. I make that mistake sometimes, too.

Otherwise if you aren't using MO then you should be having that issue of the same name for mods, since I checked the actual archive's names and they are different.

Yea that must be what happened. Ok so.. if I've already done everything and have been playing it the way it currently is (where I let the second one ovewrite the first)... can I just re-install both mods, re-boss them, and call it good? Or should I just leave it as is to prevent instability?

If you installed them in separate folders in MO and they are in the order from the STEP guide then leave them there. If you installed them in the same folder and the second overwrote the first in that folder then you can also leave it, but make sure in the order that the mod is put where the STEP Guide has the second mod. Also, these mods install only textures and meshes I believe so no need for an esp, so no need for BOSS. BOSS' only function is to sort plugins and inform about bash tags and plugins that need cleaning.
