Not sure where to post this but i have a question regarding the high res DLC

Question

Posted

Hi guys.  I'm using STEP for the first time and am downloading everything necessary as I type this but when I was reading about the optimization of the High Res DLC and about unpacking the BSA etc I am wondering if I do that do I still need the High Res ESPs and the Unofficial High Res DLC when I optimize it?  Sorry if this has been answered before but I can't find an answer that I understand.

Thanks.

Nope!! You do not need the ESPs as long as you do not repackage them as an .BSA file.

I would suggest separating the High Res DLC Files into their own folders. So you would have one folder for Texture Pack 1, Then 2, Then 3. After you do this you compress them in to a ZIP Folder. After this is done you add them to Mod Organizer (which I hope you are using ;) ) the same way you would manually a mod. "Install New Mod from Archive" specially in the upper left hand corner. Once this is done drag them to the top and then activate them. The High-Res textures will be loaded into the game and you can even see anything that overwrites them as you add more and more mods from step =)

Hopefully that made sense.

Yep it did, I use Wrye Bash for my installing, I used to use NMM but never again... aaargh.

Cool so now I can follow that optimisation guide. Hopefully after these optimisatoins I can get some more frames. Unfortunately I'm only getting 40 frames outdoors with all of the distance drawers on max... but that be another topic for another day haha
