CTD and i can't find a solution

Question

I have installed Skyrim and used STEP to install all mods plus a few more and I can't find what crashes the game right on beginning at the carriage intro ...it worked until the carriage almost arrived at the gates to helgen and then CTD.... i still don't know why... please help ?

I'm using ENB with Project ENB and ELnFX and COT

 

i'm using textures 1024 (1k) like STEP suggested

i'm using Mod Organizer for mod management

i haven't used Skyrim Performance Monitor yet i'll have a look and come with an answer for that too.

The beginning sequence is very intensive, so you might try Alternate Start and see if you can get into the world space and run around without crashes. If you have success running around Skyrim without a bunch of crashes then it is just that the beginning is pushing your system to hard.

ok i used Alternate Start and it seems it doesn't crash anymore... thanks! :)

anyway i have some questions. I used last year this mod and at a later time i got serious CTDs everytime i got near Riverwood. It is ok to use this mod now?

and about the VRAM what should i do to reduce the usage a little bit?

this quide Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited is it still good ? can i use it to clean the mods i have ?

and what you think about Skyrim Redone (SkyRe) can i use this mod ? some say its good some say causes ctds...

Okay, I'll start with SkyRe, it is a rather comprehensive overhaul of many aspects of the gameplay, so if you use it then you will need many patches.

 

The Skyrim Revisted guide is a bit outdated, but Neovalen has been putting together a new guide called Skyrim Revisted: Legendary Edition that is probably better to use, but not complete. Yes cleaning your mods regardless is a good idea.

 

I've never had problems with Alternate Start around Riverwood and last few updates that were made seem to make the mod as stable as ever.

 

To reduce VRAM usage you might need to optimize your textures, which is quite a task on its own. Since you have a 1GB card, I'd say that reducing the size of your normal maps to half the size of the color maps would be the best bet for saving VRAM. We have a DDSopt guide that you can follow to figure out how to that, and Kelmych is really good at answering any questions in our DDSopt threads.

If you cannot run the helgen into.. you are bound to run into issues later regardless of using alternate start or not.

You simply have too much stuff going on for your machine to handle.

Use the basic version of Skyrim Flora Overhaul. Will provide a huge boost. Along with Grass on steroids and the following tweaks you can reduce the amount of loaded stuff even further for more performance and stability because of it.

I would also remove oblivion gates, and the birds mod until you have a stable game, then you can add that sort of stuff back in.

 

In general do not add gameplay mods until you have a stable reference with texture use and memory etc.

 

Also like EssArrBee says, then try to reduce the texture load to get more memory. Also make sure you use the correct ENBoost values! It will produce CTD´s if not setup properly.

Only one of the two Oblivion Gates v3 esps should be activated, not both!. But I don't think that is the issue, but it is worth a try.

It could be you might have to many hi-res textures for 1GB of VRAM. However, since you run ENB, I have my doubts about that being the cause for crashes.

There is nothing else obviously wrong about the list as far as I can see.

 

Edit:

 

You have all the wearable lanterns add ons, but not the actual wearable lanterns esp installed. Make sure you have that installed and enabled!

well i reinstalled wearable lanterns, removed all oblivion gates mod, removed birds mod.

i still crash at the beginning but if i use Alternate Start i can play .. i don't know what will happen later on. Anyway once i crashed when i used ESC.

 

and i have another problem now... animations doesn't work ok for me... and i used FNISbehaviour to update the animations.
