Luisangre Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 First of all I would like to say thank you to all the creators and contributors of this phenomenal project.I've been browsing the forums to familiarize myself more with SR but still have a few questions. 1. While patching up some mods, I've noticed that some records are left with a red background/ red text and the instructions on SR do not say anything about fixing the record, is this normal?2. The top of the SR page has a "Notice: This guide has been frozen while a replacement is created." - Is there a new version of SR coming soon and if there is, should I still go ahead and install the current one? I've been a STEP user since STEP's first days and recently made the change to SR so I don't know what to expect of an update to such a big project.3. Is there anything I can do to help the development of SR? I took part in editing descriptions for the STEP wiki here and there a while ago.
Aiyen Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Currently Neo have reformated his machine and is looking into optimizing the entire guide, so it will properly take him a month or more to get it all shiny and stuff. The red backgrounds in Tes5edit are due to various criteria of that program that I forgot atm, but it is not necessarily a bad thing by default. The best way to help SR atm is to play the game so we can get some more feedback from further into the game! There is a standing theory that as the game progress then more script issues might arise. Since there are not going to be any new updates for a while now then you can just go ahead and install the guide as is now, and then play test.
Luisangre Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 Thanks for the reply, Aiyen. Does this theory mean that sooner or later the game will corrupt because of so many scripts? And is this a known issue that SR users have reported? Also, would it be possible to just do an update on my current SR setup when Neo updates SR or is a full install always recommended?
Aiyen Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 If the game fails to clean redundant scripts in savegames then over time they would get more and more bloated. Then it stands to reason that the game would also become more unstable. But since most progress so far have been to make the game stable (texture wise) within the memory limits, and updating and adding content then I have not heard from any who have actually played the game for an extended period of time. Also most people do not use a pure SR install but have something else added or removed etc. Which is ofc fine, but also adds a certain degree of uncertainty that one must be aware of. I am fairly sure that Neo will keep the guide somewhat like it is now. Only he knows what gets thrown out and what stays etc. As for updating a save when the time comes then the following applies to old saves. You can always add new mods to an existing save, the problem is if you remove mods.
Solist Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Skryim Revisited, where the dedicated few simply mod their game more than we play it (and love it)!!! :)
SpikeWLD Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Skryim Revisited' date=' where the dedicated few simply mod their game more than we play it (and love it)!!! :)[/quote']Exactly!! ain't it fun??
Luisangre Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Over 600 hours in Skyrim and 95% of this was testing textures and bugs :] Anyone here use Skyrim Unleashed? https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25869/? I think it is a great alternative to SkyRe as SkyRe's scripts and general favor of new weapons and their perks sometimes seems unbalanced and cluttered. Requiem is great too but the main author may not be coming back and because of this it may never get Dragonborn support.
rootsrat Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I read SU mod page before I decided to go for an overhaul, but: 1) it does not modify perks, and I found vanilla perks boring 2) it's not compatible with many mods I wanted to use 3) I'm not sure how customisable it is while active, and I like to have some control over my game For those reasons I've chosen Skyrim Redone.
Luisangre Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Good reasons, root3. By the way, is anyone else getting "redundant" in MO for amidianborn glass armor and amidianborn tsun armor? These mods get completely overwritten by book of silence. I'm gonna give it a shot with SkyRe, hope it's not too tedious as I'm almost done installing SR.
Luinithil Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Well since the same files are already contained in BoS, I'm not surprised those two mods get shown as redundant. If you have the latest BoS, you can get rid of them.
Luisangre Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Will do, Luinithil. Forgot that BoS was updated and now includes a bunch of stuff.
Luisangre Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Hey guys, I'm at the Realistic Needs and Diseases part of the guide and making a patch for a few mods. This line loses me though; -Repeat this for the "0003133B","0003133C","00034C5D","000508CA","00085368","000C5348","000C5349","000F693F","080053E5", and "080053EC" nodes. The last 2 nodes, 080053E5 and 080053EC seem to already have no conflicts and every time I drag the values I get a green background with gray text. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.
Ciccigomma Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 SkyUI and Unofficial Hearthfire patch got an update. Can i deactivate the old and install the new without trouble?
