Question

Posted (edited)

Hey,

I'm having a 80004005 texconv error during LOD generation. The explanation points to a texture being broken, but DynDOLOD doesn't specifically mention it by filename. It writes out only the filename of the one it is about to generate, not the source. Is there any method to track down a particular broken texture? Any help would by appreciated.

Here's the error message:

The texture is not a valid file format or corrupted and needs to be converted or replaced. Look up the texture path in MOs right window Data tab to find out which mod supplies it. Reinstall the textures from the mod, DynDOLOD Resources or TexGen output, whichever it is. If the mentioned texture is part of the DynDOLOD output, delete the entire output from former session before trying again.

Error 80004005 - I have attempted to reinstall Dyndolod several times and continue to receive this error.  Stange thing about that, each time I delete the folder and reinstall, it seems I get a little further along.

Thanks, it was a mod I forgot to update.  At least I hope it was.  I will update Seasonal Landscapes and corresponding mods and try again after re-Smashing a few patches.

NVM, That is not the problem.  I think I have to disable Seasonal Landscapes for ENB grass mods.  Thanks for the knowledge drop.

Disabling plugins, mods, meshes or textures is a troubleshooting step and not a fix. In case of problems or questions, use the official DynDOLOD support forum for qualified help and advice.

Check if the mentioned texture from the message is a valid texture.

I've used Dyndolod successfully in the past, but for some reason it doesnt work now. I've deleted any trace of Dyndo to ensure a full redo. But when i go to use TexGen64, it freezes everytime at "Gathering base records for billboards". I also believe there's supposed to be a pop up screen that asks where the output goes,, but that isn't popping up either. I tried running as administrator,  as well as turning off compatibility mode, still the same outcome. Any suggestions?

If there are no logs because TexGen doesn't shutdown after clicking X once and waiting for a bit, enable the real time log as explained in the webpage.

Check in task manager if TexGen uses any CPU in that case. Check in task manager if there Texconv processes TexGen might be waiting for.

There were no logs and it used 0% cpu. Here's the real time log:    https://pastebin.com/1x6bCM44

I tries to show a message dialog box with the error. You sure it is not maybe hidden behind some other windows?
In any case fix the texture and it should run through.

[03:24] Error: Texconv error 80004005 E:\Modding\DynDOLOD\DynDOLOD_Output\textures\dlc02\lod\seruinsfloor01lod.dds "E:\Modding\Dyndolod 2\Edit Scripts\Texconvx64.exe" -nologo -gpu 0 -y -m 1 -aw 256 -f R8G8B8A8_UNORM -o "C:\Users\jpran\AppData\Local\Temp\DynDOLOD_SSE" "C:\Users\jpran\AppData\Local\Temp\DynDOLOD_SSE\593CE12D9BCD4FD8AC1461830A18924D.dds"

I checked the texture, only Project Clarity is editing it and the issue persists upon removing it. I'm running with only project clarity's retexture nothing else. Never gotten this issue before

Correct, DynDOLOD will not create the texture from the new full textures again if the file  E:\Modding\DynDOLOD\DynDOLOD_Output\textures\dlc02\lod\seruinsfloor01lod.dds already exists. Something went wrong when it was generated the first time from textures\dlc01\architecture\snowelfruins\seruinsfloor01.dds

When running a fresh install of dyndolod,Texgen I keep getting the same error.

Texconv error 80004005.

[Content]
Textures\landscape\AoM\Plants\Coldharbourtreebark01.dds

This file path does not exist anywhere on my M02 data tab or in my Skyrim ae 1.6.640.0 install and I'm unsure what it would come from.

First time asking for help so not 100% if anything else is needed for context. Let me know and cheers for the help

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which entire TexGen log and debug log to upload when making posts.

80004005 - The texture is not a valid file format or corrupted and needs to be converted or replaced. Look up the texture path in MOs right window Data tab to find out which mod supplies it. If the mentioned texture is part of the DynDOLOD output, delete the entire output from former session before trying again.

Enable archives parsing under the MO2 menu, Tools, Settings, Workarounds tab. You can also use the xEdit Asset Browser that is started with CTRL+F3 and enter the filename into the filter field to see which containers (BSA files, data = loose) contains them.

The textures most likely ships with Vigilant SE.

Problem solved,

Enable archives parsing is a massive help.

Vigilant SE voice addons was the cause, my own incompetency not fully cleaning my load order.  Prob not the ideal solution but disabling the mod, running texgen, reenabling the mod and running texgen again solved the issue.

Thank you for the assistance.

Disabling plugins, mods, meshes or textures is a troubleshooting step and not a fix.

Doing this, does not fix the error.
Doing this, means TexGen does not generate the correct LOD textures for actual the load order.
It is possible that there will be further issues. Corrupt or invalid textures typically crash the game.

I suggest to fix the actual problem with the texture properly instead of ignoring the problem.
