Nemo92 Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I have currently problems with generating grass lods with DynDOLOD. When i click on Start this error message pop up: [02:15] [DoObjectLOD] <Notice: [Tamriel] Gathering grass data for object LOD> [03:11] Error reading grass Tamriel [-1,-3] <Unknown grass data file format> When i fixed a worldspace another error with another cooridinate pops up afterwards. The only grass mod i use is Verdant. Is there a way to solve this problem? The log.txt is in the attachment. DynDOLOD_SSE_log.txt

If it shows Skyrim - Misc.BSA and not Grass Cache Fixes.bsa or a loose file from whatever mod, then the vanilla file not being overwritten is the cause of the error message. Otherwise the winning file is corrupt and needs to be deleted/replace by a valid one. You can also use the xEdit Asset Browser (started after loading everything into xEdit with CTRL+F3) to see all containers (BSA, loose file) for a file, not just the winning one. Thanks for walking me through this. Unfortunately the file is missing from the grass cache folder as mentioned in my 2nd post, so nothing is coming up when searching for it in the Data tab.

Goto MO2 menu tools -> Workarounds tab -> [x] Enable archive parsing With that option enabled, MO2 should show Skryim - Misc.bsa as the mod source for the file. What the DynDOLOD log shows is that there is no Grass Cache Fixes.esp and no Grass Cache Fixes.bsa in the load order. Install the mod and activate the plugin so that the tools and the game also load the Grass Cache Fixes.bsa. The Grass Cache Fixes.bsa contains a valid version of that file as already explained.

This is strange, MO2 shows that Grass Cache Fixes is the source for the file, not Skyrim - Misc.bsa, and I have the mod installed and the plugin is activated. Tried reinstalling Grass Cache Fixes again a couple times and running TexGen and DynDOLOD again, but I'm still getting the same error.

Check the DynDOLOD log (and the xEdit log and the xLODGen log) It shows the data folder it uses: Using Skyrim Special Edition Data Path: E:\GAMES\Skyrim Anniversary Edition\Data\ https://dyndolod.info/Mods/Skyrim-Special-Edition-GOG-Skyrim-Anniversary-Edition-GOG Also doublecheck the INI folder and pluginsx.txt path. The log shows every plugin and every BSA it loads.

The log shows every plugin and every BSA it loads. After setting the plugins, ini, and data paths I realized I did have a previously installed non-GOG version of Skyrim which may have been what was causing issues. The issue seems to have been resolved as DynDOLOD is still running with no errors thus far! Thank you so much for all your help and bearing with me to get to the bottom of this, really appreciate your time.

The message means there still exists a file (can be in a BSA) for those coordinates and that it still has an unknown format. Usually that means a vanilla file. Also check posts/answers above.

Thanks.

Apply the fix as explained by creating a valid grass cache file with NGIO. https://dyndolod.info/Messages/Exceptions#Unknown-grass-data-file-format The fix is to generate valid grass cache files with NGIO and to make sure to overwrite all vanilla/old *.gid files with them in case you instructed DynDOLOD to use *.gid file instead of *.cgid files. https://dyndolod.info/Help/Grass-LOD
0 NotSafeForAdults64 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) @Prokane99 Quick necro as I experienced the Tamriel (-5,10) error while attempting to build DynDOLOD after caching my Verdant grass. This is due to FPS Grass Booster - Verdant being enabled and added grass in an area where no grass exists (Labyrinthian). Disable this mod PRIOR to generating your cache and you won't have the issue. Enable once you complete your tasks with DynDOLOD. I also follow this guide which has worked well for me. https://github.com/The-Animonculory/Modding-Resources/blob/main/Grass Lods.md Delete if necro is prohibited. Just wanted to share my resolution so that it may help others. Edited November 16, 2023 by NotSafeForAdults64 Updated typo

Just wanted to share my resolution so that it may help others. Disabling mods/plugins is a troubleshooting step and not a fix. Disabling something that actually affects grass for generating the grass cache or grass LOD means that those changes are then not reflected in the grass cache and grass LOD. The problem is caused by following an outdated third party guide, which instructs to rename the *.cgid files to *.gid for grass cache generation. That means that in the case there is no grass cache file generated for a cell and grass cache fixes also does not include an empty replacement for those coordinates, the grass LOD generation loads and reports the broken vanilla gid file. The game would load it, too and crash. Read https://dyndolod.info/Help/Grass-LOD To use the *.CGID grass cache files in other runtime versions, use Grass Cache Helper NG. Do not disable any mods or plugins. Do not rename any *.cgid to *.gid Do not use grass cache fixes. Use Grass Cache Helper NG instead. Then it does not matter that there are no *.cgid files for certain cells. LOD generation and the game will work, and full and grass LOD will match the actual load order.
0 Sleipnir_Schwanz49 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Regarding the "Error reading grass [worldspace] [x,y]" fix, as I am running into this error again, I have used the fix mentioned in https://dyndolod.info/Messages/Exceptions#Unknown-grass-data-file-format . However, I cannot seem to find the .CGID file that NGIO was supposed to create on the fly after typing the command suggested in the link, I'm pretty confused here.

If enabled it will create files in /Data/Grass/ directory ,,, Also pay attention to explanations in the GrassControl.config.txt itself for OnlyLoadFromCache needing to be set to False.
0 Sleipnir_Schwanz49 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Thank you for your answer Sheson, sorry to bother you again. So to clarify, when I generate the .CGID files it all ends up in my Overwrite, there is a grass folder I have that the files go to when caching is done. When I attempt the fix, I will look there as well as in my /DATA folder in my game, but I am still not seeing any files. When I use the console command from the main menu, it does teleport me, but in the console it doesn't seem to say anything else after I type in the command for the corrupt world space grass. I appreciate you again for your help.

I appreciate you again for your help. Use the MO2 right window data tab to see all files in the "data" folder. If you require help with MO2, you read its documentation and ask for help on its support forum. If you require help with NGIO, then you should check its description, explanation in its settings file, comments sections etc. Depending on settings, NGIO creates grass cache files for the current active cells for which they do not exist in the load order without any message to console. Otherwise run the usual grass cache generation.
Question
Nemo92
I have currently problems with generating grass lods with DynDOLOD.
When i click on Start this error message pop up:
[02:15] [DoObjectLOD] <Notice: [Tamriel] Gathering grass data for object LOD>
[03:11] Error reading grass Tamriel [-1,-3] <Unknown grass data file format>
When i fixed a worldspace another error with another cooridinate pops up afterwards.
The only grass mod i use is Verdant.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
The log.txt is in the attachment.
