Changing lod mesh

I'm trying to turn pine trees in aspen, while I could do this to mesh the lod still show pines, there's a way to change?

Obviously - as the manual explains - you need to install or create matching tree LOD billboards for the full model trees.

The manual even links a whole video how to create billboards
