GTX 580 1.5GB Vram issue (stuttering) - [SOLVED]

Question

Posted

I'm gonna start of with saying that i'm no expert at computer stuff, so if i say anything retarded, don't blame me :)

Well, lets get to it. So I'm currently having problems with stuttering in Skyrim, and I'm quite confident that its a problem with not enough vram.

But there's something weird going on because, (i might be wrong) 1.5gb vram should be enough for the main texture packs in the Texture pack combiner at low res, right?

i'm seeing quite a large amount of stuttering while moving around, and i'm going crazy over it.

any help would be highly appreciated.

My spec:

(no idea what my motherboard name is)

windows 7 64 bit home premium

gtx 580 1.5gb Direct CU II (my temp at full load is about 50 degrees celsius)

16GB 1333 Ram

I7 2600 @ stock clock

EDIT: I'm also not using a higher Ugrids setting.

First why are you using Afterburner? Are you overclocking? These tools are known to cause some issues in certain situations.

What issues does Afterburner cause in Skyrim? Just wondering. I use it to overclock the GPU and I use the OSD to measure fps, Vmem, OC setttings, temp and fan speed.

None as far as I know, but it may be incompatible with ENB when it's running the OSD.

Maybe that was it... I haven't been able to find the article I read.

That is the main thing from my own experience. I cant run it with any ENB profiles. Without them it runs fine as my previous play had about 100 hours with it on.

Afterburner has issues with RCRN if you don't tweak it, they have instructions for it on RCRNs homepage. I can imagine it can cause issues with other post-processing programs as well.

1200-1300mb vram usage with the HD DLC is certainly reasonable.
