Win 7 updates have been a problem for a while and especially bad for the last few weeks. Finally someone by the name of “Canadian Tech†has come up with a solution that actually works.

 

One characteristic of the problem is that update hangs up on looking for updates. Another thing I've noticed is that the svchost instance that is running Win Update will keep at least one CPU core at 100%
