STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?

Question

Posted

A quick question - what is the validation on the STEP Extended Patch during the installation? Does it just look for all the master ESPs and if one is missing the option gets greyed out or is there more to it?

The reason I'm asking is that I was not able to install it last night - the option was greyed out, but I'm pretty sure I have followed all the instructions (apart from adding Loot rules - but that shouldn't matter, should it?).

There is a possibility of a human error of course, I'll be checking the whole profile today to ensure it's all good.

So - what actual validation STEP-X Patch installed does?

Thanks

Yep, it just looks for what would be the required masters. You're likely just missing one that you accidently skipped.

I think OP here has all the required mods, unless the patch was updated and the list wasn't: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9370-step-compilation/

Found it! I missed The Choice Is Yours. All done now, howver the installer selected No ELE version for me - which I assume is right, as that mod is no longer part of STEP (correct?). It's however installed 2 ESPs - Step Ex. Patch - No ELE.esp and Step Ex. Patch.esp. Looking at masters I presume only one is correct (no ELE one).

Is this correct? Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, it's really been a while since I installed STEP and even used MO at all...

::EDIT::

Please disregard this post completely :)

I see your edit, but just so anyone who is searching for this question in the future knows: ELE Lite is still a part of STEP. It may be that it was looking for ELE Lite v0.95c which is named different than 0.95b, but I'm not 100%.

:-( Sorry to hear that, Rootsrat. Maybe double check SKSE install with Mem Blocks Log? But you probably already know that. You were part of STEP before I even knew what STEP was, lol.

Anyway, best of luck, and if you need any help don't hesitate to ask! :-)

Hey, thanks for the suggestion - I wouldn't think of that to be honest. It's been over a year since I even had Skyrim installed on my computer and even back then I wasn't even modding it anymore. I've just had my own build installed that I worked on for a year or so. It had over 440 mods and was quite stable, so I was just playing that.

So yeah, I'll defo need a refresher :)
