SR:LE lighting issue

Recommended Posts

I tried to search but couldn't find much info on this topic.

I have installed SR:LE and all seems well accept for some weird lighting issue indoors.  In the Alternate start starting jail cell, the candle beside the statue turns on and off depending on my position.  This seemed to stop after configuring the MCM for some reason.

Now I have made my way to Riverwood.  In the Inn the lights flicker and change on the walls/ceiling/floors depending on where i stand or move.  It is pretty bad and immersion breaking.

Is something wrong, or is this something with the game engine?

I checked and ELE seems to be winning all conflicts torwad the bottom of load order as instructed in SR:LE.

Any thoughts?  I just want to make sure I have no major problems.  I plan to do a complete play through of expansions and Falkstaar, Wyrmstooth.

The Alternate Start cell is a known issue. It's because of the additional light source that's added by that mod. Just ignore it, you won't get back there after creating your character anyway.

Regarding the Riverwood Inn flickering: are you using the replacement esp for the RRR ELFX Patch that's provided in the guide? https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition#Realistic_Room_Rental_Enhanced

I had exact same issue in Riverwood Inn recently and unfortunately patch didnt fix it for me so i've ended up scrapping ELFX altogether. Funny thing is that after fresh reinstall i dont see this anymore and the only difference (applicable to lighting) is that i dont have SRLE CR patch installed. I cant confirm it anymore since my previous setup is gone but try disabling the CR patch and see if it changes anything

I recently spent time in the Riverwood Inn testing Vivid Weathers among other things and didn't notice anything flickering... Obviously I use what's listed in the guide.

As far as ASLAL, known issue sadly. Saving and reloading will get rid of it if it's bad enough to you. :)

Updating the replacement esp for the RRR ELFX Patch did not fix the problem (I'm fairly certain I did this on my first install anyway).

The lighting looks really good when it works, I hope someone can figure out a fix for this.  I would have to redo my whole install if I was to not use ELFX - which isn't really an option, I think my wife would kill me if I spent another 2 days doing a complete install.  Haha.

the ASLAL issue isn't a big deal to me.  I only mentioned it because I did not know if they were related or not.

Edit:  StoneWallace17: I disabled ENB using the ENB manager and problem persists.

Takes 30 mins max. Disable ELFX and related patches (MO will show you in right pane), then open CR patch in tes5edit, open Neos Cr guide, search for records added for ELFX and delete them from CR patch. Clean and sort masters when done.

Do me a favor, go to dragonsreach and when you enter the door go near colums on left and right and turn around few times, see if you get shadow pops (ala ASLAL). I am getting them on v3 of elfx

sm0kem.  I really don't want to disable ELFX, thanks for the tip on how to do it though.  If it becomes to much of a problem I will follow your guide.  I'm going to keep searching and waiting for a solution.

ELFX is way up in my load order, #20 and #21 for the exterior.esp after running loot.  I checked conflicts using TES5edit.  There are several conflicts.  There was a red conflict with the Riverwood Inn, although I couldn't find exactly what the issue was.

Anyone think I could fix this issue by adding to the Conflict resolution ESP?  I'm not sure which part is the actual issue.  I image there will be other issues similar to this in my play through.

I went to several other Inns, same type of issue in these inns.  Seems like an Issue with the Inns only.....

Maybe I screwed up updating the RRR ELFX patch, but I really can't say as I haven't gotten the game to work properly at all in the last week. Either my ENB looks awful or the game just crashes immediately. No idea what causes it as even if I get it to work, if I don't change my load order at all it'll start crashing next time I launch it anyway.

I found this on the RRR enhanced forum from someone having other RRR enhanced issues:

Do you have ELFX? You need to make sure you have the compatibility patch and then add a load order rule manually as LOOT won't sort it properly:
"If you use ELFX, please use RRR_ELFX-Patch.esp, do not use ELFX-NoTaverns.esp with 1.8 version of this mod.
Load order:
RealisticRoomRental.esp
EnhancedLightsandFX.esp
RRR_ELFX-Patch.esp"

My load order has EnhancedLightingandFX.esp near the top at 20 (ELFX exterior at 21), and realistcroomrental.esp 72.  the RRR_ELFX.esp patch is at 118.

So, can I just move the ELFX esps down below Realistic room rental or would I be better off moving RRR up to position 20?  Loot apparently doesn't sort these correctly..
