Question

Posted

OK so i have always used nexus manager and decided to switch to mod organizer. So far i have been completely happy with my decision and no issues until now. I installed mods with optional install such as bathing beauties bathhouse or mystic knight or xpmse skeleton. It seems like mod organizer remembers what i choose and just reinstalled mod with my first choices...i want to make changes so how do i get back to the initial install state to choose my setups for these type of mods?

If you already have all your mods downloaded you can simply use explorer and move them into the 'downloads' folder then they will all be accessible via MO's downloads tab.

I think you are mistaking turning the mod on/off in the left pane with uninstalling / re-installing.

To re-install a mod, locate it in the downloads tab of the right pane (assuming you downloaded with manager), and double-click to re-install. The FOMOD installer should pop up again. Choose "replace" at the end.

If you didn't download with manager, same thing but click the "Install from archive" button instead of searching for it in the downloads tab.

Ok so to be clear here are the two variations,

first time install is where i chose the options. then install complete.

now when i uninstall i go to left pane, uncheck the box, then i right click and select remove mod, i verified that the program did move it to the recycle bin, i verify that the left pane no longer has the mod, right pane no longer has the plugin, i then proceed to delete it from the recycle bin.

I click install from archive and select the mod zip file, the organizer goes through the normal install loading box but instead of me choosing options again it just installs it like it was before.  Example bathing beauties has an option with apachi hair on npc, i chose it and after the install i get ctd for no apachi.esm so i need to redo my choices and im obviously missing something.

I think you may be confusing the issue with different descriptions of what you are doing.

Your OP says you can't reinstall a mod and have the installer options available but your last post says you can select it but it is making incorrect choices. The mods you are installing, and BTW it will make your life a whole lot easier if you set MO to download these for you, all use FOMOD installers which examine the mods installed into your game and making choices based on those. If you have not yet installed, and activated a mod that is needed the fomod will not allow you to make that choice. This also applies if you have mods installed directly into the game's Data folder, as was the case with NMM. Those mods are not shown to any installers opened via MO.

MO has an extensive help wiki hosted here on STEP and it is accessed by clicking the ? symbol in MO or following links from MO's home page on Nexus or via links here in STEP. Perhaps a read through that may help you see what you may be missing. It may also help us see what you are in fact describing.

There are no settings saved outside of the installed mod folder that will affect the choices you make the next time you go to install it.

Let's assume you install a mod called TEST. MO installs that mod into its 'mods' folder and calls it TEST. If you examine that folder in explorer you will see a file called meta.ini, this text file contains all the details of this installation. If you remove TEST from MO, meta.ini is also removed and thus no information about your previous choices are saved anywhere.

Thanks for your info. i will try to look for a few more minutes or just simply make a fresh install of everything including the program to see if that will help if i cant resolve with this new info. and forgive me for not being more accurate with descriptions but never the less i do understand a little more about why this issue is a little silly by how you described Test mod. As my First attempt to fix it was indeed to delete meta file alone and then select reinstall mod by right clicking the mod in the left pane. But i manually download all files at one location...then transfer it from a laptop to home rig and then install with program so.... as you can see i have no internet at home.  Well Thanks and ill get back tomorrow and update on how it went.

ok so hello again..lol i solved this problem by removing all of the mods like i described. i then moved the mods into the download folder. then used the download tab on the right pane to reinstall them. problem solved. apparently i was just doing everything except what i should have done. but overall your advice to move already downloaded mods into the downloads folder is how i solved my own lack of knowledge. Thank you

Just want to say that I have had this problem too 100%. There has been several times when I have done a re-install of a mod in MO, and it did not install correctly after.

When it would happen I would remove it again, and re-download & replace the mod, although I'm pretty sure it happens when doing the context menu "re-install"  from MO, and not while removing something completely first and then re-installing.
