When I try to install STEP Compilation Installer - Normal Res - 2292i I get the following error: "The element 'plugin' has invalid child element 'typeDescriptor'. List of possible elements expected: 'files,conditionalFlags'." Then MO pops up "installation failed (errorcode 5)" I actually found the fix just before posting this, but figured this would be a good place to post it anyway for others with the same issue as the fix was buried in another post regarding required mods. ( see this post: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9370-step-compilation/page-2?do=findComment&comment=147127 ) The fix is simple, set the internal fomod installer in MO to prefered.

I was having the exact same problem as Lunaus and switching the internal installer to preferred did the trick. Thanks for the help. Could I suggest adding a note to https://wiki.step-project.com/Mod_Organizer#Recommendations or https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP_Compilation#Recommendations to make sure that the installer is set correctly. I can't recall exactly why mine was set to external, but it was likely a workaround for another mod in the past.
