Immersive Roads fomod seems to be a little messed up, but you have dark, normal, and white versions with none, dust, orange moss, green moss, grass, and snow options.
  2. My favorite road01 by far is Tamriel Reloaded HD 4k, but I do not like that its dirt02 contains green moss. https://i.imgur.com/TwutQdD.jpg
  3. Alas, the dirt02 from Noble does not work with parallax... have you found a texture pack with a parallax-supported dirt02 that looks fine with Noble's road01?

  5. Okay... A little more info on roads... Tamriel Reloaded HD.esp - I need to do further testing, but I believe you must not overwrite any of the textures that are in the Texture Set section if they include a Height parallax file. - For the sake of sanity, at the moment I have disabled Tamriel Reloaded HD.esp [ road01 ] 1. You MUST include either SkyrimHD Tribute - Roads.esp from Hein84 or EpisodeParallax.esp from Project Parallax. They both do the same thing and are required to make road parallax work right. 2. You MUST include road01_p.dds, road01_n.dds, and road01snow01_n.dds from SkyrimHD Tribute. No other texture pack has made these three files correctly. 3. You may use any texture pack's diffuse texture (road01.dds), but keep reading because you may want to be selective. [ dirt02 ] 1. dirt02 is a secondary file that is mixed in with the road01 all over. This means that if you choose a dirt02 that does not mesh well with the road01.dds that you chose, it will stick out like a sore thumb. 2. You must choose a dirt02.dds that supports parallax (the file is made differently). You should keep the dirt02.dds and dirt02_n.dds from the same texture pack. Here are the ones I have tested so far: Vanilla + Project Parallax = Not compatible with parallaxSkyrim Realistic Overhaul + Project Parallax = Not compatible with parallaxNoble Skyrim + Project Parallax = Not compatible with parallaxTamriel Reloaded Textures and Parallax = Not compatible with parallaxPfischer's Parallax Textures = Not compatible with parallaxSkyrimHD Tribute = CompatibleaMidianBorn Landscapes = CompatibleTamriel Reloaded HD = Compatible*Note that your choices for dirt02 are fairly limited, so unless you manually fix a texture from a matching texture set to fit well with road01, you will want to choose both a road01 and dirt02 from the same texture set that has a parallax-compatible dirt02. - rock01.dds, rock01_n.dds - riverbededge01.dds, riverbededge01_n.dds ---- I have just started testing, so there are likely other terrain-textures that mingle with roads in other areas I have not yet checked. I will post an update if/when i find them.
  6. Tamriel Reloaded HD has a lot of good textures, but their included ESP causes havok with other mods. Using the pack without the ESP seems to be fine, but would require more testing to make sure that there are not any broken Mesh/Texture relations. TRHD adds a lot to the old look for Skyrim, but I think the moss and overgrowth is a bit over the top in some places. I mean, this is supposed to be a pretty frigid place. I think that using parts of the pack would add a great deal to being immersive though.
  7. Mine is 220gb, but I have a whole bunch of texture packs; if space is a concern, then after you've finished, move the un-checked mods that you have created merges for onto your mass torage drive, and move any large files (like textures) that are conflict losers onto your mass storage drive.
  8. I saw that, but I looked through the code that and am unfamiliar with how I could extract what I need from it to build an ESP SDK. I only know c, c++, c#, vb, and java. For now, this utility can only work by assuming standardized directory structure and file names of the textures; everything that is not standard or has changed texture names within ESPs won't be right. It's a start at least...
  9. Ugh... I'm going to go mad... I need a way to programmatically open and read esm/esp files. Clearly it's possible since Mator did it with Merge Plugins...
  10. It seems that Tamriel Reloaded was in fact remade? I wish Nexus would mark archived mods that have been re-created.
  11. Is there an SDK for the ESM/ESP file format?
  12. Is SeriousHD still a contender that I should include? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2146
  13. Well, you can try just installing SkyrimHD Tribute alone, without SkyrimHD and see if SRO + SkyrimHD Tribute mesh well.
  14. Until I'm finished, I'd suggest the best/quickest solution would be for you to switch out SRO + Project Parallax for SkyrimHD Tribute as your base texture mod; or at the very least put SkyrimHD Tribute immediately after SRO+Parallax to override everything it can (which is about half I think).
  15. road01 from Noble, road01_n from Tribute, road01_p from tribute I'm going to build a database of which textures have matching patterns from which texture packs. To save on time, any that match I will just automatically use the normal and texture from Tribute when evaluating them. Pfuscher's stuff is dramatically messed up, so I may just remove it from evaluation completely.
  16. So... quick update on my texture pack evaluation... The only texture packs that are done right for parallax are Vivid Landscapes and SkyrimHD Tribute. All of the others are chuck full of things like blank _p parallax maps, blank _n normal maps, incorrect bit displacement, incorrect alpha, and all sorts of other nonsense. This means that even if the texture itself looks nice, it's ruined by other unfinished files that are included in the texture pack. Here's a quick example: Noble Skyrim Texture + Noble Skyrim Normal + Project Parallax Remastered Parallax: https://i.imgur.com/hWzSiCP.jpg Noble Skyrim Texture + Noble Skyrim Normal + SkyrimHD Tribute Parallax: https://i.imgur.com/myqtYxW.jpg Noble Skyrim Texture + SkyrimHD Tribute Normal + SkyrimHD Tribute Parallax: https://i.imgur.com/lQABDrB.jpg Basically, this means I will have to further break up texture packs into texture, normal, and parallax files; figure out which ones match and which don't, and evaluate various combinations of the ones that match.
  17. So.. after a preliminary look at all of the texture packs, one thing has become apparent. Each of these texture packs seem to focus quality on specific areas. I don't really want to evaluate every single individual texture from each pack without having some sort of utility to show them all side-by-side in a properly rendered way, so I think I will separate my evaluation into regions and then further separate those few textures that are massively used everywhere. What's more, I'm going to build a screenshot gallery to show the differences in these regions. Does anyone know a console command to show your current coordinates and orientation, then also one to teleport you to a specific coordinates and orientation? ---- A quick update on Tamriel Reloaded: it falls into the same category as Vanilla, SRO, and Skyrim Noble with partial parallax support.
  18. ... which is why I said it'd be nice for Hein84 to give Noble Skyrim a tribute treatment. In his SkyrimHD tribute treatment he corrected any non-parallax compatible textures (which makes perfect sense for a parallax-enabled mod). He has no problem having both parallax and alpha. If you wanted to run with Terrain Parallax disabled, then yes, these textures and their parallax add-ons would be fine; but I am evaluating them with terrain parallax enabled; which means that many of the terrain textures don't work if they do not fully support parallax, and so a different texture pack's version would need to be used for those textures. Note how I currently rated NobleSkyrim below SkyrimHD, but in terms of texture quality, Nobel Skyrim is probably slightly above SkyrimHD albeit even with the parallax mod, it is only partially parallax compatible. Also, thanks for the "tamu75's Terrain Parallax Textures", I had not found that one.
  19. Quality Rating so Far (Best at Top / Parallax Compatibility Included in Evaluation): Vivid Landscapes All-in-One + Vivid Woods (Large Gap) SkyrimHD + SkyrimHD Parallax Tribute (Small Gap) NobleSkyrimMod + Project Parallax Revived * Skyrim Realistic Overhaul + Project Parallax SRO Official High Resolution Texture Pack + Project Parallax Vanilla (Large Gap) Skyrim 2015 WIP by Pfuscher **Not Yet Accessed: aMidianBorn (All Environmental) Tamriel Reloaded *** ---- * Someone should ask Hein84 to give Noble Skyrim a Parallax Tribute and it would then be better than SkyrimHD in a general sense. Looking between the two, I think the best solution would be a combination of SkyHD Tribute and Noble Skyrim Tribute (if it should be made). ** Pfuscher's is completely a 'throw it in' texture pack, while many of the texture don't look bad, there is absolutely no consistency in color palette or congruence of patterns. Therefore it can only be used as a partial fill-in for specific textures that need a parallax variant. If I end up using any specific textures from this, I'll list out which files specifically. *** The fomod for Tamriel Reloaded could really use built-in screenshot comparisons of the options... I guess saying corrupt 'parallax map' isn't quite right; but instead corrupt combination of parallax map and texture, no? A texture pack that include both a parallax map and a texture should not be incompatible with parallax for that texture.
  20. It is... except that the incompatible landscape textures are coming specifically from parallax-enabled texture packs.
  21. Alas, it seems that this Project Parallax Revived suffers from the same parallax map corruption as Project Parallax and Project Parallax Remastered. https://i.imgur.com/ZbL1lOB.jpg Pfuscher also has one or two corrupt parallax maps. So far SkyrimHD Tribute and Vivid Landscape are the only two with 0 corrupt parallax maps that I've found.
  22. Thanks. Do you know if the NSM Full file is actually full or does it lack some of the below 'only' packages? One thing I've noticed is that even with bunches of very large overlapping texture packs enabled; each one is still offering hundreds of textures that are not covered by other texture packs. The biggest issue is that Vivid Landscapes is the only one that I like nearly all of the textures for; the rest are hit and miss.
  23. Generally, it's good to merge like mods in the correct order to avoid LOOT from screwing things up between multiple patches or updates, which happens quite often I've found. Alas, I've also found that some compatibility patches themselves also need compatibility patches for other compatibility patches. I've also noticed that certain mods somehow avoid overriding unchanged parent records that automatically get included when modifying a child record; I'm not sure how this is done, but it would allow for much, much cleaner patches if I can figure it out.
  24. Thanks... I'm currently evaluating the textures in various large packs to find the best-looking (and matching) setup. I'm evaluating: Official High Resolution Texture Pack + Project Parallax Vanilla Skyrim Realistic Overhaul + Project Parallax SRO SkyrimHD + SkyrimHD Parallax Tribute Vivid Landscapes All-in-One + Vivid Woods aMidianBorn (All Environmental) Skyrim 2015 WIP by Pfuscher NobleSkyrimMod Tamriel Reloaded I've noticed that if I switch every single texture to a 4k/2k version, I do in fact get a reduced framerate in some areas (average of 55, dipping to 30 in certain places), but they also increase the stutter which I assume would be a consequence of either the load time from SSD or the process time from ENB. If anyone has another large-sized texture pack they think I ought to take a gander at, please let me know.
  25. (Wish I could change the name of this thread) Anyway... I went and uploaded the Dead Man's Drink Fix to the Nexus because it seemed useful. On an unrelated note, I haven't done any major modding since NwN2, and tinkering around in other people's mods made me wonder about hijacking the engine and building D&D 5 Forgotten Realms.
