Up to Deadly Spell Impacts on my STEP 2292 Reload, and cannot get the Special Instructions to open for this MOD. The MOD itself opens fine, so I've downloaded the Medium Texture version. Not sure what STEP recommends be done with it, though. Can someone please look into this? Never mind, they've been out of pocket for 10 minutes, and as soon as I send the message, I get right into it. Ugh!

Farmhouse Chimneys now Version 2.5 with revised FOMOD
aba42 posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I'm building another STEP 2292 to debug the first one, got to Section 2.G. Landscape & Environment, Farmhouse Chimneys. Instructions are for Version 2.3. Current version is 2.5, there is no Optional or old Version 2.3 any more. -
Test Run 1 - End of Section 2.D. - Fuz Ro D'oh Inconsistent
aba42 replied to aba42's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Ah, thank you. Don't quite understand the difference in the two runs as skyrim.ini for both profiles was set to sIntroSequence= , but, in the first instance, alll dialogs were depicted when I added Fuz Ro D'oh. Anyhow, thank you. Will do. Onward and sideways... -
Test Run 1 - End of Section 2.D. - Fuz Ro D'oh Inconsistent
aba42 posted a question in Mod Organizer with STEP
When I ran Skyrim before, Fuz Ro D'oh showed all conversations from all participants. On this new run with new Profile, during the regular opening Skyrim Intro, Fuz Ro D'oh only works for one conversation Imperial Soldier to Tulius, and Tulius Response. There are no more depicted conversations. I, personally, wish to have all of them shown. Suggestions, please. And, so far, this is the only glitch I've seen. This STEP 2292 load is young, however. Oops, one other thing. I set up Skyrim performance monitor to run pre-MO. When I load Skyrim that way, I get no opening icon, the load immediately goes to the "Continue, new, load...quit" menu, and I have no mouse on screen. So there are two glitches. I'm opting to not use Skyrim performance monitor. -
SkyUI is not installed in STEP 2292 until the end of Section 2.E. Interface. However, for those of us (specifically me, who was so instructed) who are running Skyrim after every section to determine which MOD is giving us (me) problems, attempting to run Skyrim after Section 2.D. give an error message stating that SkyUI is required by Trade and Barter. Or did I mess up somewhere? My mistake, it was a red highlight in LOOT, which I ran immediately before attempting to Run Skyrim.

STEP Vanilla Optimized Installs fine (bsa), not in Archive.
aba42 replied to aba42's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Sorry I took your time. I unzipped them manually, wrote them over the identical-sized files, they popped right up in MO and, as soon as I check it, they also popped right up in the right pane, and are now checked. Never mind. -
STEP Vanilla Optimized Installs fine (bsa), not in Archive.
aba42 replied to aba42's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Well, okay. So, I uninstalled STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures from my new profile, re-installed it, got asked if I wanted to merge or overwrite the existing one (as I did not uninstall my previous attempt, I only created a new Vanilla Profile to commence again, as instructed), as the files are being written into the same MOD directory. So, I chose Replace, it installed (at least MO stated it was in the bottom pane. But, now I can not find it in either left or right pane. Am I supposed to go manually delete all MOD's installed by the previous installation simply because they occupy the same physical space? Or is it ok to overwrite them as I install them in a new profile? The Cleaned Update ESM files, Unofficial Skyrim legendary Edition Patch, and Unofficial High Resolution Patch all seemed to replace and be installed just fine, and they're all marked, as appropriate, in either or both the left pane and the right pane. So, where am I going wrong now? Thanks! Allen -
STEP Vanilla Optimized Installs fine (bsa), not in Archive.
aba42 posted a question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Having started S.T.E.P. 2.2.9.2. from scratch, I've gotten up to STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures. The specific instructions state: "Simply download and install one of the Optional Files and then check the archive in the Archives tab." I downloaded the Standard Definition (2.8gb) file with MO, installed it with MO, moved it directly beneath Unofficial High Resolution Patch in the Load Order on the left pane, checked it, then selected the Archive Tab on the right pane...and the last item on the list is the Unofficial High Resolution Patches, which I'd checked when I installed it. Is there supposed to also be an entry below that for STEP Vanilla Optimized Textures = Standard Version? I've waited overnight for it to show up (due to the size of the MOD), but so far, no change. -
Okay, see you in a few days...give or take. I'll just begin with the Vanilla Game and go forth and be conquered! 8-)

For some reason, Hearthfiresextended no longer contained a warning about runing TES5Edit, so I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. Question: Do I need to then also uninstall and reinstall the STEP Compilation Patch, or just make sure that hearthfiresextended loads above STEP Compilation Patch? The reason I ask is that, I reran LOOT, but it did not move it above the STEP Compilation Patch. Thaniks!

You are absolutely correct, I shoulda knocked off much earlier than the 16 hours I'd already put in yesterday, and the day before, and the .... Okay, fresh now, went to my Vanilla Skyrim MO load, ran it (the only thing is it's with the updated SKSE.ini and the enblocal.ini installed). First, HOLY CRAP! The difference in textures is already night and day, and I can't wait to get the dang thing started; second, it ran like a clock, nolo problemo. My GTX 660Ti's pluggin' along just fine, and I rechecked the nVidia settings and they're all as instructed, as well. It's only got the unmanaged Dawnguard, HearthFires, Dragonborn, all three HighResTexturePacks and SKSE loading. Works perfectly. So now what?

And, again, I ask, how do you change your MO profile to one with just vanilla files? Or is that another RTFM, meaning that I really should just take a few weeks off and go memorize this stuff before I come back and bother you guys some more. As for Cache Verification. I've done that many times and, as usual, the only thing wrong was it never likes the settings it gives me, so when I restart the game after doing one of these, it always stops to see what my setting ought to be, and then assigns Ultra. And, that's what happened tonight. Allegedly one file (i.e., the settings) was messed up and will "be acquired". Now, what manual am I supposed to read about how to set up a vanilla profile to one with just vanilla files?
-
Nebulous112, and Dragon Lord. I sincerely apologize for never having used or edited ini files nor any of the software, nor this complicated an approach. I am extremely frustrated. Responses here imply that I should have obtained a degree in and memorized all of the manuals for all of the fine points for all of the tools that we're using. If that's the case, fine; I'll be back in a few weeks. The reason is that I'd REALLY like this to work...JUST ONCE. Just give me one direction, and I'm out of here for tonight, as I give up. I believe that there may be a problem with either skyrim.ini, skyrimprefs.ini, enblocal.ini (which is why I started this conversation to begin with) and, now, skse.ini and/or their interrelationships. I have redone the S.T.E.P. process completely (after the masters) and converted all of the mods that I had erroneously unzipped back into bsas, and everything through every S.T.E.P. worked just fine, even the penultimate Dynamic Distant Objects LOD (57 min, 55 sec). Anyway, please just tell me where you would like me to pose my question tomorrow, which specific forum, and I'll make sure that I set spoiler tags around anything and everything I submit. Thanks. Allen

In the skse_steam_loader.log, the third line from the end says: config path = D:\Steam\steamapps\common\SKyrim\Data\SKSE\skse.ini BUT, it should say Skyrim\mods\SKSE\skse.ini...should't it? I just looked, there ISN'T a Skyrim\Data\SKSE folder!? Similarly, in the skse_loader.log, the third line from the top says: config path = D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE\skse.ini That folder and ini file don't exist. I don't understand. Please point me in the right direction for instructions on how to "Load a blank profile with just the vanilla assets in MO".

Thank you. Made no difference. "Skyrim Not Responding"
-
Ok, I apologize. Back to basics. I wish to use the skse.ini file in the Skyrim\mods\Skyrim script extender folder. I don't understand how that changes either the "Binary" or the Start In for SKSE in MO. How do I get the skse_loader to point to Skyrim\mods\Skyrim script extender for the skse.ini file? That is, should I just uninstall and reinstall SKSE with MO (following the S.T.E.P. directions again)? Or just delete or rename the one that's in Skyrim\SKSE?
-
Well, DRAT. I've got TWO of them. One is in Skyrim\SKSE, the other is where MO installed it, in Skyrim\mods\Skyrim Script Extender, as your diagram shows. Let me change the path to the file and try it again! DRAT!!! By the way, this is the text of the Skyrim Script Extender skse.ini: [Display] iTintTextureResolution=2048 [General] ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 [Display] iTintTextureResolution=2048 [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768 ScrapHeapSizeMB=256 Don't know why there are two "[Display]" settings, should I remove one?

Hello? Anyone Home?
-
As for my SKSE program, skse_loader.exe is loading from D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\skse_loader.exe (that's the Binary). The Start In is D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim. Does that mean it's not even seeing the skse.ini because its in the Skyrim\SKSE folder? Or does it just pick it up from there? There's no skse.ini in the Skyrim root directory As far as I can search, there's only one SKSE.ini in the entire Skyrim directory, under Skyrim\SKSE. Oh, and I am initiating SKSE through MO, not as a separate program.
-
Well, after about 8 minutes, it finally just gave up and crashed to the desktop. Howzzat?
-
Nope, same thing. Opening screen, ENBLocal.ini warning that it's not supposed to be set up that way (I assume that's what the red color means), then the hard drive stops spinning, and Task Manager reports Skyrim Not Responding.
-
Dang, I can't even post a "general" comment generally correct! Ugh!
