  1. I use a Xbox 360 controller to play Skyrim. Following thru the STEP install and up to the point of installing better dialogue controls I become overly suspicious that after 2 days of this I am going to find out that I will never get it to work because it is only for those who use keyboard and mouse. Better dialogue control and the mod next in the list seem to be for people who use keyboard and mouse. So I want to ask if someone can tell me do I really need a mod or two or three that are for keyboard users when I do not and will not paly the game with a keyboard. As much as I love console commands I still dislike having to UN recline and get my keyboard from its safe spot and change how high I can jump or how much weight I can carry then put my keyboard away so I can recline and get my controller back in hand. So I need to know if I am S.O.L. on the whole step project??? Is there any appendices to apply to controller users specifying which mods un-necessary??? Mainly I want to know if all controller players are just left out. Also I am up to step 2-E in the install and I still don't have any idea if I am an extended patch user or not. Some clue here would be helpful. I know I want to be an extended patch user but I don't know when or how that happens.
  2. thank you very much .... now I will attempt to continue with step 2-C. I am using an alienware R-4 with Ge-Force 760, 16 GB Ram Quad core .... etc. It is supposed to be a fast strong machine, god knows it cost enough...should I be able to use all the highest res textures and max everything ...so to speak...?? I thought this machine was top of the line when I bought it. I intend to try to use the settings for higher end machines and if all goes well I'll post many thank yous and let others know it is possible....unless you know anything I don't know about , any warnings or advice is most welcome and IS actually and sincerely appreciated. Thank you very much for your help so far. If you had not replied I would just have to keep waiting. I hate waiting. I wait hating. Thanx to you I now know enough to continue and that is you making all the difference in the world to me...so...thank you....really..
  3. So should I delete it (it wont let me). Do I need to go start over ? Why would tes5edit do wrye bashs' job ? better yet HOW could tes5edit do something wrye bash is supposed to do. What do I do to get rid of this patch , or will I actually need it later ? Is my install ruined ? I cannot continue until I know it is safe.
  4. I have used Tes5edit to clean master files many times and have NEVER seen it result in a batched patch. I am attempting to try out this STEP core and having quite a hard time reconciling my experience with what I am reading. Can anyone tell me if step 2 b is supposed to result in a batched patch ??? Like I said, I have cleaned many masters and never seen a batched patch before. Now I am scared to continue the STEP core install I am attempting. Step 2 b is to clean the update ESM. Never before resulted in batched patch. Freaking out here, just a little. Please help. Thank you.
  5. I am beginning the STEP core for the first time and am new to DDSopt. During installation it says to make sure and update to the latest version of DDSopt ini. when that link is clicked the instructions say to copy and paste into the same directory as the executable. Exactly which part of this page must be copied and pasted ? Much of it looks like gibberish to me and a more detailed and thorough instruction would be most appreciated. I don't even know when I am going to need to use this tool or if it is something that runs all the time. I don't know if I must have these ini whatevers copied and pasted before I run the program or will it tell me which of these I need. I see stuff about WATER and Pure Waters and other mods that are not even installed yet. Can anyone give me more understanding of this please?
  6. A fresh install of Mod Organizer has fixed the problem. I thank you for your prompt reply and hope you know I love and frequently praise the amazing features of Mod Organizer. (mostly to people who don't play Skyrim....or mod....or know what the hell I'm talking about). Using NMM my game would not stay stable up to the 400th save, first time I used mod organizer my game stayed stable past 900 saves. I also frequently refer to the STEP project and it has helped me MUCH. Thanks again.
  7. I did but I changed it back. This is the confusing part. The font or text is the same size as always if I launch through the steam website or steam task tray menu. But if I launch through mod organizer using any of the three launchers (SKSE, Skyrim, and Skyrim Launcher) the tilde key menu font and certain notifications (example: groovetamas skeleton detected on this player. have a nice day!) are tiny. 50 to 75 % smaller than usual. De-activating all mods in mod organizer should start the exact same game with the exact same steam downloaded mods as the steam launcher. I am deleting mod organizer and making a fresh install to see if that might help. I just don't see how M-O can launch a changed skyrim without any mods active.
  8. I have been playing skyrim for two years without this problem. Suddenly when I am playing skyrim and press the tilde key to enter a console command, the font size has been reduced by half. I cannot find any way to change this and therefore have no idea how it was changed. If I start skyrim through steaming pile.... oops ...I mean Steam, the font size in the tilde menu is normal size. If I start the game through Mod Manager (SKSE , Skyrim, or Skyrim Launcher) with all mods de-activated, the font size in the tilde menu is tiny. I am fifty years old and gradually losing my eye sight due to age and injury. I really need this font to go back to being the same size it always was. Any help would truly be appreciated. I am using an Alienware R-4 with Ge-force 760 , 16 gigs of ram and 4 core 8 processor i7-4820k cpu 3.7 ghz. I am beginning to wonder if there was a Skyrim update and Bethesda decided to make it harder to cheat using console commands by making the font too small to see. :(
