  1. Yeah, seeing at it's been around since release, I guess it is (also, maybe a lot of people don't use it... at least with PC, you can remove the perk and play without it). There are a couple of mods on the steam workshop that claim to solve it by setting it to a fixed timer (1.0 and 1.5 seconds, respectively). However, I'm unsure of how to use workshop mods with STEP/MO properly, and the more popular of the two modifies some other perks, which I'm not sure if they'll conflict with any other changes. I tried to replicate the effect in the creation kit, but was unable to locate the settings or scripts that control this behaviour.
  2. So this is an old classic issue that is present in vanilla Skyrim and still is. The bug is related to the "Quick Reflexes" perk in the Block tree and goes like this: When an enemy power attacks while blocking, time slows down. Normally time goes back to normal when the power attack is finished or interrupted (by bash/stagger), however in this case it stays around for a LONG time (sometimes it comes back out on its own, but sometimes it seems to last forever (many minutes)). During this time, everything except the player moves in extreme slow motion (you can clear an entire room of enemies before the first one hits the ground). While being a super ninja is kind of fun, it's super annoying after a while and obviously completely game breaking (in terms of balance). Common ways to release the slowmo are: ¤ Wait for another power attack ¤ Save (yes, not load, just saving does it about 50% of the time in my experience) I just started a new sword and board character with STEP 2.2.9.1, and since picking the quick reflexes perk (one of my absolute favourite things about sword'n'board), I get this bug on EVERY single power attack (about 20 times in a row and counting). I was surprised that the bug is still around (I first had it on my first character back in 2011), expecting it to have been fixed by something like USKP. Is there any known workaround for this bug apart from not picking the perk? Should it have been fixed and I just messed up with something? Here is a video showing someone else experiencing the bug. (I used to think having too low a timescale was the issue, as that randomly fixed it before, but no such luck this time)
  3. Validated game files and deleted all old save files. Last character I started I started from the Helgen save of the one before, dunno if that's why it mysteriously happened on both characters. Anyway, seems to work fine now. Thx for the guidance.
  4. Makes sense. Can I verify game cache without losing any STEP configurations (I use MO)? Someone suggested it may be some file corruption (seems unlikely, but whatever).
  5. I checked, doesn't seem to be anything changing the initial dialogue topic (some of the ones later down the line of conversation had some edits, but the first ones are just Skyrim.esm). I also can't see any condition that must be satisfied to see the dialogue topic (that said, I'm not that used to digging in these things). Dinya Balu (quest giver) herself wasn't modified in any way by any plugin. Dialogue topic screenshot below:
  6. I have added a very small number of quests (none having anything to do with quests or dialogue and most actually getting merged into the bashed patch). These mods were added after the bug started happening though, so I wouldn't attribute it to them. I've played in the region of 1000 hours of Skyrim over the years, at least half of them with STEP in various versions and this is the first time it's happened (but it happened on several characters, so there's something for sure...). Is there any way to see what installed mod touches those specific dialogue options? Or should I just do a clean reinstall and save myself the trouble? :P
  7. So, been playing some STEP 2.2.9.1 recently. First off - great job, guide is getting more followable with every iteration. Only thing that had me a bit confused this time was the DynDOLOD things I discussed in that thread. Anyway, after playing for a few hours (well, like 50), I started noticing that certain quests wouldn't show up. As in - the quest giver doesn't have the dialogue option that starts the quest (or not being able to enter dialogue at all in the cases where that's their only dialogue option). At first I thought it was just minor "radiant"-ish quests (these are the ones I remember off the top of my head): ¤ Carlotta & Mikael ¤ Amren's family sword In Amren's case, I saw him discussing with his wife, then when he walked off, he commented about mercenary work, but didn't offer the quest (could still train one-handed etc though). Both the above cases solved themselves after a while (like, leaving, doing a few other quests etc.) However, I also had the same problem with "Book of Love" from the temple of Mara in Riften (couldn't open dialogue with Dinya at all, at any time of day). I tried on many occasions on two different characters, but no success. Being somewhat used to Bethesda games, I thought -ah well-, and force started the quest using command "setstage t02 10". Quest started as expected and the objective showed up in the log (not on the map or in world though, curiously), however upon reaching the NPC in Ivarstead, she also lacked the appropriate conversation options. Moving the quest on further had the same results with all other NPC's involved. I run a complete STEP install (just removed the bow sounds and dead body collision), and the only mods that come to mind that would modify this are USKP, Choice is yours and Better Quest Objectives. Looking around, I find some people reporting similar issues, for example here (not a STEP user though, I believe): https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim_talk:The_Book_of_Love#Quest_Not_Starting Any idea what I can do to find the cause or fix this? Again, love the guide and the work put down.
  8. It failed again, this time on "64 textures\lod\platedrooflod.dds": (sorry about the uncropped image, failed when uploading... derp) edit: Going to bed, will check back after work tomorrow and test more if needed. Hope you find a pattern. Btw, sheson, really appreciate what you've done for the modding community. Have a good one!
  9. Seems to be working fine now (got about 15 or so rows so far after 2 minutes). I'll update when it finishes (or fails).
  10. I have the same error(well, mine says EAccessViolation instead of Unknown, but occurs in the same place). This is the output when running your new script. Last row before Exception is "Working on 9 textures\lod\mountainslablod.dds". I have no idea what mod that's from, but I installed STEP 2.2.9.1 to the letter if that helps.
  11. Thanks... I wasn't really asking for myself though, more pointing out an inconsistency in the guide (the whole "don't use nexus version" followed by "pick the one corresponding to your graphics card" (which is only in the nexus version))...I feel pretty comfortable configuring this myself, but that might cause major confusion to newer users.
  12. "Skill Interface" retexture mod seems to have been taken off Nexus... Available anywhere else by any chance?
  13. Also, in the ENBoost description, https://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost#Recommendations, it first states:"STEP does not recommend downloading the Skyrim Nexus version of ENBoost due to incorrect settings for STEP."Then later, under the [MEMORY] section, it says:"Change parameters according to your video card (choose the enblocal.ini corresponding to your video card)."Only the Nexus version of ENBoost comes with video card specific versions of the enblocal.ini file, so there's a bit of confusion there (for example, should the rest of the [MEMORY] section be the default provided with the binaries or the ones supplied in the Nexus version (comparison below)?)Default:[MEMORY]ExpandSystemMemoryX64=falseReduceSystemMemoryUsage=trueDisableDriverMemoryManager=falseDisablePreloadToVRAM=falseEnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=falseReservedMemorySizeMb=64VideoMemorySizeMb=2000EnableCompression=trueAutodetectVideoMemorySize=falseNexus (for my particular card):[MEMORY]ExpandSystemMemoryX64=trueReduceSystemMemoryUsage=trueDisableDriverMemoryManager=falseDisablePreloadToVRAM=falseEnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=falseReservedMemorySizeMb=256VideoMemorySizeMb=1920 The description in the link only covers appropriate values of "VideoMemorySizeMb=" and "AutodetectVideoMemorySize=", so that leaves me confused regarding what to do with the rest of the ones that differ.edit: I hope I don't come across as ranting :) I love this guide, and I just want to see it be as consistent and complete as possible to reduce the confusion for users (and hence support topics that pop up on this forum)
  14. That's not relevant at all to the description I linked to (which only uses the pure download from the SKSE site to create a mod, then adding the .ini file to it).
  15. In the SKSE install descriptions, https://wiki.step-project.com/Skyrim_Script_Extender#Recommendations, it says, under point 3, "Open the skse folder"...However, there is no skse folder in that mod when created in the way described in the rows above, so to avoid confusion, it should probably say "Create a folder named SKSE" or something similar.
