hi guys - where's the best place to post a few end lines of this log for a 2nd pair of eyes in idnetifying potenital freezing issues after trying some non-step mods like custom charecter/follwer adds? I'm confused becuase the last script before the freeze has been those beloning to footsteps and another STEP safe mod, which cant be right since STEP is flawless. Thanks!

where they come from hasnt been important for me if STEP recommends them since I beileve them to be safe/stable. If another mod comes along that STEP recommends me to over install and it looks better I do manually backup the files it would overwrite by hand. Maybe I do need to consider where they come from though, but getting Skyrim stable is my forefront concern. With STEP I seemed to have that stability now so I thank you for all your help and recommedations.

I couldn't get EFF to work for me so I am trying Amazing Follower Tweaks. So far it seems to work fine, but havent really ran it through the gambit. Anyone have any bad exp with AFT? https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15524

By hand is not as painless as Wrye but, I feel total control over mod installs as I can replace and update by hand and see exactly where everything goes.

Wrye Bash with Mod Organizer - New Bash Patch every time?
wolmarc replied to Satyre's question in Mod Organizer Support
This is a lame question but one that must be asked by me since I stopped knowing it all last year: what is a leveled list? -
yes, all by hand in the order STEP advises. It actaully doesnt take that long once files are downloaded. Thanks again for the help!

I'm trying it now, but am not sure how to get it to work on NPCs. Not sure if you can recruit a standard NPC. I'm hoping someone can tell us that. :)

I am trying EFF but am not sure how to use the menu system. I cant get it to pop up when I talk to an NPC I'd like to recruit. Any tips?

SKYRIMLE Skyrim Bigger Trees (by Xweto and Jonigts)

So are Lush Trees and the Bigger Trees mod found to be stable, even though they aren't the best looking? I will use them if STEP approved as far as they don not cause stability issues. -
Any good videos for using Wrye to install mods, ENBs? I've done all STEPs (non-lighting) recommend mods by hand so far as I've trusted every one of them for good reason.
-
I am using an enb that does have this issue. Perhaps someone can recommend one that is sunny bright, clear, colorful I can use instead? I tried the first ENB on the STEP recommended list and didn't like it as it wasn't colorful or bright enough for my tastes.

I get what you're saying; test and see if it doesn't cause any grief. What's a solid testing path you guys use for introducing new/untested mods into your game for personal use and or future STEP use?

https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14007 Any one know if this is has tested out good for those of us STEP users that employ ENB? Thank you.

SKYRIMLE SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators

So IS Skytest safe to use if the birds mod is unchecked? This mod certainly adds a lot for me. -
Never heard of EFF. I will look it up on Nexus and give it a try probably first. Thanks again for any tips and reccomendations anyone has. With 20 rebuilds and fails under my belt, I certainly seem to need all the advice I can get. :)

WOW! Thanks for all the help guys. Each one of you has something I can use. This, apparently, is the Skyrim community to hang out with as it seems you are the most helpful and knowledgable that I've encountered. So Thanks for the helpful content here. I have redone Skyrim about 20 times and am about to give up, but not before I follow STEP and give it one more go. @YuMMz I will give Wrye bash patches a try this time. I have used Wye, but only to sort mods and start the game, never to install or create a patch. Honestly, I'm not sure how to even create a bash patch as I havent found any video tutorial on it yet and reading a guide just doesnt help me much for Wrye. All the other suggestions on follower mods I will just have to try each one at a time and see which one fits me. Since you guys are using these particular ones without much trouble I feel comfortable in trying them. So, thank you all very much.

57 hours with no CTD? wow man, that's great. Do you use the full STEP setup. What other mods apart from step do you use? Thanks for the help on this as I now feel it's safe to use it. :)

Hi! I used to use UFO, but dont see it in STEP and will not install much of anything without the approval of STEP since I havent found any stability apart from it. Q: I want to use something like UFO to control certain aspects of my followers that UFO provides, but dont want to introduce any unneccesary scritps; can anyone please guide me to how to use the console that these scripts must use in order to openactorcontainer 1 and make them use a certain armor instead of what their assigned armor was. Stuff like that must be in a script somewhere for these follower contols and I'd like to find the console command and used that instead. Thoughts/tips welcome.

Thanks for the confirmation. I am going to do a re-STEP with a few less items and next time not step away fom STEP!

Hi! I have used an earlier version of STEP when it first began and through this, after many many attemps on my own frought with major instability issue, was I ever able to achive very good stabilty. I followed STEP then to the letter and it was good. My question today is becuase I have deviated from STEP and my Skyrim is utterly unstable and have attempted many many times to rectify without STEP with ZERO success. Q: There are a lot of mods included in this version of STEP I would like to trim out in order to keep a smaller install with less possible conflicts as well as reduce download and install time. Can I still find stability following STEP and non including non critical mods like Rainbows and Convenient Horses, stuff like that? I know some aspects of the STEP install are critical for stabilty like mod cleaning with TES5Edit and ini file and basic setup, but can i safely skip some non critical mods?
