Hello STEP General SE forum users! I have recently been able to purchase and upgrade my Skyrim SE/AE 1.6.640 to the full, supported version of Skyrim and all of its latest DLCs and patches - previously I was unable to follow the STEP Guide to its utmost fullest as I did not own the Anniversary Upgrade, only the free CC content that came with the 1.6.XXX+ update. In regards to the topic title I have this question: Is there a way to safely remove, disable or otherwise patch the Tundra Homestead in order to use another mod in its place? The reason I am asking is because I want to use Migal's Bathing Beauties Luxury Suite (BBLS for short) mod, however this mod conflicts A LOT with the aforementioned CC content (Tundra Homestead) quite a bit. As far as I am aware there are no currently existing patches that help the two function TOGETHER, however Migal himself and one "patch" I have found on the Nexus (don't remember the link/name now that I am posting about it..go figure ) suggest removing the Tundra Homestead completely. The only issue I foresee with said "fix" is that I myself have no idea if that would lead to further dependancy issues with other mods that may require/rely on the Tundra Homestead content/files installed via the STEP v2.1.0 Guide. Is there anyone here who could enlighten me as to how I could best approach this? Migal, after mentioning to him how I installed my current installation, has already stated that patching/moving his BBLS mod (which he refuses to do because it existed 5 years PRIOR to the Tundra Homestead) would most likely take at least 1 ½ months (with himself being the most surefire way to safely make it so everything functions correctly without breaking). This is basically the ONLY mod that I most strongly desire to have installed on top of following the STEP Guide and would very much appreciate any help in getting this to work! Thank you!

I was able to purchase the AU and did exactly as you suggested with regenerating the LOD/TexGen/DynDOLOD and have only noticed any major issues surrounding the Tundra Homestead where some of the landscaping has some major issues where you can see directly through the textures/meshes (unsure of which is which, tbh). I'll be making a seperate thread regarding this specific piece of CC content in a second, though - please look there for further information.

I posted this as a seperate topic, however want to link it here to see if I can maybe get a response: Safe to "Update"? Edit: I realized after the fact that I worded part of what I was asking incorrectly and edited what I actually meant as a reply on that topic.

Downgrading and the STEP Guides, how to integrate everything?

Replying...again...as I just realized the text in red (as well as enlarged) was worded extremely weirdly and confusing..

Is anyone able to respond? Would prefer knowing this before moving forward/deciding anything. Again:

Hello! I have a question regarding the Skyrim SE v2.1.0 STEP Guide.. When I am able to purchase the Anniversary Upgrade from Steam, is it safe to simply download/install/update any mods I previously had to skip/ignore (mostly thinking of the Nexus STEP Patches), thus deviating from the guide, whilst possibly having to do a Clean Install and re-running/generating xLODGen/TexGen/DynDOLOD? I have not deviated excessively (I don't think) from the original STEP Guide save these three changes: Installing CBBE instead of the UNP files, Installing kryptopyr's Patch Hub FOMOD instead of merging the individual patches as suggested in the STEP Guide (I do, however have said mod installed/created in MO2 so all I have to do is tick it so that it is active and deactivating kryptopyr's FOMOD), Not having installed the Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patches as, with my current Skyrim SE/AE installation, none of the patches were "needed" when looking to install them individually instead of the merged patch. The only other minor change I've made is installing Unlimited Sprinting so I do not have to worry about Stamina at all. Everything else (IIRC - this whole project took me from around noon on Sunday (Nov. 6th, 2022) until around 8:00pm today (Nov. 9th, 2022) to complete (with a few breaks for sustenance/personal care) and I really don't want to have to avoid doing the ENTIRE process over again (deleting everything I just installed as well as doing a 100% clean install of Skyrim SE/AE - deleting all files I can find) if it can be avoided. The first line in the STEP Guide is A new game is required if updating from any previous Step SSE guide, due to certain mod changes included in this release. If taken at face value the "A new game is required" simply means not continuing/loading any save(s) created with what I was created during the ~3 hours of "test play" (to make sure nothing was super broken, which I couldn't find) as (at the time of posting this) Skyrim SE/AE and SKSE haven't been updated again (yet). Edit: Yet once again I must thank anyone who responds to this thread for the help beforehand!
-
I also haven't installed the Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patches because of the aforementioned reasons. Edit: Reason I skipped over it entirely is because when installing via the "Individual" FOMOD choice instead of "Merged" is because none of the options pertain to the CC content I am able to install.

I do appreciate all of the help I have recieved up until this point. I do also apologize if my previous response came off as rude. I do, however understand why the assumption was made as to why I don't own the AU as, in the beginning when AU was released, that was the reason I didn't want the AU - merely out of principle. Further thanks for the suggestion(s) under your "horizontal line"(?) (that's what Chrome describes it as). Seeing as that approach will most certain be the best possible solution for my given situation would it be possible/okay to ask if I should continue strictly following the STEP Guide (save one exception when I replaced the UNP related mods in 08-Character Appearance with CBBE instead) and then disable/replace whatever is missing a master? Again, the biggest culprit(s) are currently the Nexus STEP Patches with a few exceptions from kryptopyr's Patch Hub that STEP recommends installing as either standalones or a merged custom file. The STEP Patch - Conflict Resolution (albeit I don't know everything it changes) I may be able to work around, however the STEP Patch - Lighting and Weather is harder as I really want to use all of the mods related to this patch (especially Realistic Waters Two SE) and I am not sure how to go about it..

At this present moment in time NO I DO NOT due to personal/private matters I do not care to share on a forum. My PC was purchased/built a few years ago, as with Skyrim, so "almost certainly" having access to something I do not (as mentioned vaguely previous buy stating I do not own aforementioned content in previous topics) is a very bold assumption. I am doing everything I can with this current installation to make sure it works as well as possible so that I can get it to work relatively properly until such a time where I can afford the AU.
-
I am currently running into this exact issue as I am now at the STEP 4 - 20-Patches step and am trying to wrap my head around how to move forward as the Nexus STEP Patches require the FULL GAME which means I can't install the STEP Patch - Lighting and Weather as it requires the STEP Patch - Conflict Resolution -- neither of which I can install despite possibly finding a way around the latter (which I will not mention here for obvious reasons).
-
I ended doing exactly as you stated. Now my only issue is the Nexus STEP Patches all require the AU as Masters which I do not own so now I'm not sure what to do.
-
Also - this part is confusing me: The part I highlighted in black.. Do I want to make the changes listed in the window below(s) or should I leave them as default as listed in the base DynDOLOD_SSE.ini?
-
Hello again! I am following the STEP Guide and have now come to the 19-Utilities section. Upon [Expand]ing the DynDOLOD 3 Alpha section it wants me to do follow these steps: The issue is that for #2, on the DynDOLOD 3 Alpha page there are no miscellaneous files? Am I supposed to just download the main file and install that following #3? Thanks for the help beforehand!
-
Thank you for this! I'll definitely do my best to follow this topic and compare any of the aforementioned mods whilst installing. Is it possible to install any of the affected mods whilst simply not ticking them on therefore not actually being active upon launching the game and not affecting anything else?
-
Replying to say that the Crash Logger apparently doesn't work with 1.6.640 either. Edit: Same for Scrambled Eggs.
-
According to the STEP guide, Bug Fixes SSE needs to be installed (unless it isn't a hard requirement?), however according to the modpage the most recent Skyrim version (1.6.640) isn't yet supported/functional and they recommend using this Unofficial SSE Downgrade Patcher in order to be able to install said mod. What am I supposed to do?
-
Thanks for the quick reply again! After installing everything according to the STEP Guide, is it possible to continue to install mods not in the STEP Guide? I am using the STEP Guide as a ground/base with the hope of continuing to mod the game further (like adding more armor mods, maybe houses and so on) so I can continue to enhance my experience. I do realize that the latter is most certainly outside of the scope of recieving (further) help/assistance on the STEP Forums after the fact...I just feel the need to ask.
-
Hello! Me again.. In this STEP part there are a few UNP mods that I was wondering if they can be swapped out for CBBE? I am more familiar with that body type than UNP and also tend to use Bodyslide & Outfit Studio (previously, anyway) to change some downloaded armor mods to fit my "body type". Thanks in advance!

Is CC content and DLC required for the Step SSE guide?
xFeywolf replied to xFeywolf's question in General Skyrim SE Support
The text I quoted from you in red is the answer I was looking for, thank you! I will definitely look into this. One last question is in regards to the Grass Cache Fix -- When reading the mod page for said mod it states having to do A LOT of different stuff in order to get that mod to work properly. Are the advanced steps in that mod necessary or am I simply installing the Grass Cache Fix and installing it into MO2? -
Is CC content and DLC required for the Step SSE guide?
xFeywolf replied to xFeywolf's question in General Skyrim SE Support
Would it be possible to get a list of what pathces and other relevant mods I will need to be keeping an eye out for? I haven't really looked into what the AU has in terms of content as I've never looked into buying it before and have pushed off making any complete re-install/upgrade(s) in lue of the whole AE thing being so new when it was released and didn't want to break my game which was fully functioning at the time. Edit: Or rather, is it stated in the guide which patches/mods need to be taken into account? -
Is CC content and DLC required for the Step SSE guide?
xFeywolf replied to xFeywolf's question in General Skyrim SE Support
Seeing as I do not own said content, should I stop following the 2.1.0 as I currently cannot purchase the AU and revert to an older guide (even if the guide in question is not supported) or, despite having the most recent version (1.6.640 as it is a completely fresh download) without the AU is it still relatively safe to continue with the 2.1.0 guide? I unfortunately need an answer to the question to know whether or not I should should stop what I am currently doing as I am slowly making my way through the 06-Models and Textures portion of the guide. The only CC content I do "own" is the free content that was given to all users with the 1.6 AE Update. -

Is CC content and DLC required for the Step SSE guide?
xFeywolf posted a question in General Skyrim SE Support
Hello! I recently decided to do a completely clean install of Skyrim SE/AE (do not own the Anniversary Upgrade) and started following the STEP 2.1.0 Guide yesterday and want to make sure I haven't screwed anything up. My main issue is do I continue with the 2.1.0 STEP Guide despite not owning the Anniversary Upgrade, which is stated as a requirement in the 2.1.0 Guide, or do I revert back to the 2.0.0 Guide even though there is a giant red WARNING! label at the top of the STEP 2.0.0 Guide stating it is no longer supported? I just want to ask this now before I continue to ensure that I can either safely continue or if I have to completely reinstall everything again. Best Regards, xFeywolf
