Whiterun LOD issue

I hate starting yet another thread, but I did a search and the only two comparable threads where Missing Whiterun Distant Textures, which might be connected but is not the same issue, and the modpage for Distant Overhaul, in which MadWizard25 describes the exact issue I'm facing.

I was about to post some screenshots, but his old screenshot does the trick, as it's the exact same issue. 

 

He does mention something about WB overwrite but no direct solution and since I'm using MO I'm at a loss.

I'm using a STEP base with some of the extended mods. I am using Distance Overhaul. Nothing overwrites it in MO.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
