Skill Interface Skill Tree Text Issue

Question

Posted

Please see this image to understand the issue I am experiencing.

I just went through with the installation of STEP 2.2.7 using Wyre Bash.  The game appears to be running well, with no issues apart from the one I'm sharing here.  The only issue seems to be the strangely named skill trees.  They seem to still work, the names of some are just broken.

The mods I would suspect are:

SkyUI

Skill Interface Retexture

I will also mention I have one non-STEP mod installed, Alternate Start - Live Another Life.  Which I am using a compatibility patch between it and Even Better Quest Objectives.

I've been unable to resolve this issue myself and hope someone will know what I should try.

Thanks.

Okay that is a new one! :)

Skill Interface Retexture only includes textures, so it cannot be responsible for what is written.

SkyUI could do it..

Bashed patch should not touch the entries related to skill tree descriptions.

So my guess would be one mod needs a reinstall, or its some weird SkyUI, SKSE thing going on.

It is very odd.

I'll attempt a reinstall of some other mods, see if I can't blindly stumble upon a fix.

This is extremely strange, never seen that before. Did you use TES5EDIT for anything?

I only used TES5EDIT for cleaning dirty edits and for a couple of compatibility patches:

Acquisitive Soul Gems and Animated Weapon Enchants, and something else to do with weapon changes not properly carrying over between compatibility patches.  I didn't change anything that should affect the Skill Tree text.

Thanks.

Well if you are up for it you could find the perk entries in TES5edit and see what mods affect them.

If you search for the name of the perk in the editor ID then you should get them eventually.

Luckily I won't have to!

I came across a thread on the Nexus Forums of someone else experiencing this issue, which lead me to this fix:

Problem

statsmenu.swf is missing/corrupted - should be in /Data/Interfaces

Fix

1) Unpack Update.BSA and move statsmenu.swf across manually solved issue

2) Download statsmenu.swf here and place this in /Data/Interfaces

I was indeed missing the statsmenu.swf, and replacing it seemed to do the trick.

Still very odd.  I wonder why this occurred in the first place?

I appreciate your help, both of you.  I'm just glad I didn't have to delve into TES5edit, haven't done that in any great detail since working on FOOK2 for Fallout 3.

Thanks,

It makes sense that is what cause it..... essentially it was either that or some perk changing mod... hence why I said SkyUI might be the cause! I just forgot what the name of the specific files where etc!

Anyways, glad to see you found a solution that we can learn from!

Marking as solved!
