Question

Under the STEP guide it mentions activating Skyrim.esp and Update.esp then the mod to be cleaned.  My question is should I include Update.esp even when (Mouseover) the Mod lists only Skyrim as a master?  The reason I ask is because there is a discrepancy between BOSS and TESVEdit on Distant DetailHF.esp  BOSS reports 694 itm.  TesVEdit only cleans 300-ish itm.  I used only Skyrim.esp and Hearthfire.esp.

I guess that leads to another question, if I did not include the update when I cleaned some mods, would that cause instability/conflict/corruption or CTDs?  I am reinstalling the Mods and the official and unofficial patches and DLCs just to put my mind at rest so I can clean them with Update as well anyway.

The cleaning process itself should not really help much with stability... since it just removes redundant information!

But depending on mod list then it all adds up in the end, so perhaps over 100 mods there is a slight improvement.
