ne1 have this? Weird texture POV line shenanigans

Question

Posted (edited)

[EDIT] My problem was a Shadow Line Render Issue.

This is indeed a shadow issue. If you have the power to run your shadowdistance at 12000.000 or higher, you will not see this line anymore.

ENB Series Works Wonders on shadows lines and many other things.  From Skylighting to SSAO.
I had to use the .0004 also with my build for compatibility.

Answer:
Backup/EDiT  SkyrimPrefs.ini
Under [Display] section change fshadowdistance=10000.0000
You probably don't need the .0000 (ten thousanths) place mark.

Salvador said 12000 or higher. If your PC can handle it.

[EDIT]
fNearDistance=19.0000 or any number from 15.0000-23.0000 is another fix I found

Also this Might interest someone:

Distance of 3000 makes the shadows real nice up close. But also draws that ugly line closer. Setting it higher pushes that line further away, but again, makes the shadows less nice. Do you use ENB. you can use ENBoost and activate the shadows only with little performance impact. Makes it possible to set the shadowdistance higher without the shadows becoming noticably ugly. Also ENB makes shadows better in general. Set bDrawLandShadows=1 if you use ENB as well as bFloatPointRenderTarget=1. I'm not sure if there is a preset only enabling shadows, but it should be easy to make it yourself.

Edit: indoor a distance of 4000 is my personal sweet spot (just find your personal flavor Wink). no need to go higher. Higher only for outdoor.

Thank You STEP Community.

Here's the problem:

This video doesn't do it justice.  Its really Pronounce.  Not Game Breaking but quite annoying.

Sweetfx makes it more pronounce but I still have it without injectors.
I have gone to default and back again.  Same thing.

specs:
i5 3570k
HD7770 1GB
MSI z77a-GD65  with VirtuMVP enabled. but its the same with/without
16GB Gskill
1TB Hdd

Looks like its a distance fog issue. Which will then get amplified due to SweetFX adjusting the contrast.

As for textures looking bad further away, then perhaps you have bad mip maps. since they deal with how the texture is supposed to look further away.

Guess you could try to use an ENB to test if that makes the problem go away. (In which case it might be shadow related)

Just use K ENB or PNENB. It it just for the sake of testing. And those are mostly up to date.

Thanks for the reply Aiyen. I will check them out.gunna try reinstalling SIMM.the vid ain't clear but it happens on everything. so reinstalling Static Mesh Improvement mod might work.

fShadowBiasScale=.3000 is the closest fix I came too.  Some said .6 or more but .25 and .3 were the ones I found to be stable.

I think .1500 is ultra settings in skyrim launcher.

Be warned though, such a high shadowdistance setting will make your shadows rather blocky. Make sure you use ENB shadows to solve that and set shadowsplitcount to 2 if it isn't already. Again, only if your machine can handle it, setting the primary shadow resolution to 2048 or higher will also reduce the blockyness. This line used to drive me crazy, and it's presence is dependant on the current weather type. COT doesn't help either.

ah, Thank You Salvador for saying it is a Shadow issue.

I thought it had to do with the shadows but then shader/wrong texture/my pc is dumb kept popping in my head.Which explained a lot of whats happening with me.

I will try what You Have Suggested.

Tried ENB but with a performance hit:

ENB v0004 n    EVB Boost, gave me too low of drops.  like waiting 5s to turn just a hair.  gunna have to tweak this for optimum setting.

THANK YOU SALVADOR!  You are narrowing my endless search.  I will get enb working then, just gotta tamper and prod...

post deleted. Said about a youtube vid offering fshadowdistance=8000 but its a trade off. cause you have to lower quality.  Or keep shadow distance @ 3000 and raise shadowbiasscale=.9  1.0 is max for this setting.

^I don't recommend this.

ENB =the injector version. Not the wrapper. and replaced the ini with enbboost ini. I 4get what its called. but it worked.

Just really LOW drops. unplayable drops. 4s wait drops. over explaining again. so I will have to troubleshoot this.

Thought I was gunna have to use a PROXY but no need for now.

good news is with the Injector version I am able to use afterburner + Virtu MVP + RadeonPRO + virtual Vsync. so def. a plus in the right direction.

Also to clarify. YES I see the white lettering saying ENB Boost running on Startup screen...yada yada.

lmao. I forgot I already posted my inis and load order on this thread. oh well.

@Moderators are able to delete the previous posts if needed. I guess I'm not on the ball today.

1more EDIT:

found a similar vid on Utube offering a solution:

fshadowdistance=8000.0000

so maybe 12000 ain't outa my league. gunna try this now b4 supper.

but from what gbooster said on guru its a trade off:

"You can increase your shadow distance in the ini, but the more you increase it the worse it gets for objects close to you. You end up with big pixellated shadows that look terrible if you make the shadow distance too big.

I think the shadow distance default on ultra is 8000, and it looked so bad I changed it to 3000 and now all the shadows look great close up. It's a trade off. "

Hi there,

You seem to be a bit hard to follow, but yes, it is a trade off, as I mentioned in my posts. The further the distance the uglier the shadows.

That is why I use highest shadow settings in my ENB preset to counter balance that. I am happy with Primary shadowresolution 2048 and a distance of 12000.0000 (that is indeed what I meant apologies), but this is naturally a personal thing. You might feel 8000.0000 is a more appropriate setting. But if you do not use the ENB shadow tweaks, your shadows are going to look ugly with anything above 4000.0000

Any recent ENB preset automatically includes ENBoost. I am not sure you understand how it works or not as that part was a bit hard for me to follow. ENBoost should never give you these drops, so something in the settings is wrong.

I suggest you try the latest skyrealism preset, however, you have to use the injector with all those other programs in the background! They do can cause issues with ENB! Why do you run all of them?

Yeah ENB and loads of other weird injectors is a bad idea.... most of what they do you never ever need in skyrim anyways.

But glad to see that you are making progress!

I also just noticed this issue... however I have already optimized it way back, so I kinda have to go looking for the issue if I want to find it. And ENB solves alot of it when setup properly.

edit: after using ENB for the little time I had it is Definitely Superior to SweetFX. Hands Down. Mainly because ALL of the settings.

@Present n a little OFF TOPiC:

I'm following STEP guide for ENB install.

Installed it like I did a few times b4.

same thing.  Huge Performance hit.  gunna disable some of the enb settings.

I use to sweetfx IN RadeonPRO cause I am also able to use VIRTU MVP with its Virtual Vsync. Which is great by the way. But if I Use ENB (at least with the dbd9.dll...even proxied) virtu won't enable.

Thanks for the Replies Guys! I'm hit'n my stride!

Skyrim has built in Vsync.. ENB has built inVsync, how would an exterior hooking program provide better vsync ?

Anyways, its easy enough to lower the performance impact of ENB.

Open the ingame GUI using Shift-Enter. Disable effects for the largest impact. Especially skylighting and SSAO.

The only thing you should leave on if you absolutely must is detailed shadows... obviously.

Otherwise there are several parameters called quality... set all of those to lowest. Hit Save, then apply.

And yes ENB is superior to SweetFX... since SweetFx only does one thing that ENB also does.... only ENB can even do that better if you put some effort into it. But at the end of the day the only thing that matters is that you think your game looks pretty! :)

update: I fixed my problem for this post.  I used the generic v0004 for Nvidia Optimus on ENB dev website.

and oh yea...since running ENB:

My Wierd POV Line shadow shenanigans are pretty much gone. lol.

Thanks guys.

original ENB post:

I'm having a rough time with Shift+Enter. Had it up earlier but now I don't. It was an older enb like 192 something... I want The Wilds enb preset.

BUT can't access the in game GUI by shift+enter No Matter what EnB version/preset I choose.

enblocal.ini says default for the keybindings.

ENB version msg. appears Top Left of Main Menu (in White font)

red letters right after enb version msg says: "Graphic Modification disabled" with the speed hack enabled.

but where Yellow letters say something like "shift+enter for GUI" Does NOT come up.

notes:

installed manually a few times. now I am using ENB manager.

What is hanging me up is this blue ENB in game GUI.

I have the ENB configurator. but I want the ingame gui so I can see whats a performance hog and what is not.

I am following the STEP ENB install guide. gunna keep searching dif. search terms that have to do with the in game GUI and ENB.

I am using ENB v224 Injector version.

I'll try the wrapper to see If I get the GUI with that.

Any help would be appreciated but no big deal. I'll figure it out eventually.

Thank You Aiyen and Salvador for the info and being patient with me:D
