Question

Posted

Just started a new playthrough including nearly all STEP mods plus a few others like Duel, ERSO's, Immersive armors/weapons etc.

For some reason, during the start sequence, I have a f(^&* helmet on my head thus I cant see my character customisation???

Any help really appreciated. no idea why this is happening.

Also, I cant for the life of me remember how I remapped my keyboard keys last playthrough so I can use the number pad etc.

Can anyone help????

EDIT....OK realised I had to also install Numpad Bindable in Interface Hard Coded Key Tweaks by crazy-g......

For issues like this we need your complete mod list and load order. Like saying STEP + bla bla bla ETC. can mean many things, and most often it is one of the mods in the ETC. that is the cause. :)

Remember spoiler tags for the lists btw! Thanks in advance!

Ah thanks Aiyen...absolutely mystified as to what mod could cause a player character to spawn with a helmet on:

  Reveal hidden contents

Edit: Added the spoiler tags for you! Next time search "BBcode spoiler tag" and you will get lots of nice helpful pages! :)

What mod manager are you using to install everything? And did you just leave the unrecognized plugins from BOSS at the tail end because they need to sorted manually or you can create rules for them with the edit user rules button.

using NMM, the unrecoqnized ones I just left at the tail, NPC makeovers etc..............

Does anyone know a console command maybe that will remove the helmet???

Well you can just make a character, then remove all clothing from the character, open the console and type showracemenu and remake your character. Make sure you have disable face gen cache installed on the Race Menu page and be indoors.

EDIT: Also, you should seriously consider using Mod Organizer or Wrye Bash to install and uninstall mods. STEP does not support the use of NMM because it is lacking in important features that are needed for maintaining a modded game with lots of mods.

Thanks Ess, I tried to use Mod Organiser but found it too long and tedious and couldn't work it out if I was using it properly. I understand its not good for updating mod list etc but I don't plan on altering this playthrough, ie add other mods etc. Trying to finish the game.........

Is race menu page a mod? creation kit?

It's a mod that overhauls the character creation menu, the disable face gen cache is a SKSE plugin that is one of the optional files. It will keep Skyrim from crashing if you have hi-res body textures and lots of hair mods when you use the showracemenu console command.

I recommend both the Race Menu mod and the disable face gen cache.

Thanks man, am wondering if its part of ERSO module 1, erkiel may have put it in to randomize your face so you use the Riften face changer later in the game.......not sure.

Anyway I just used a random preset and am ok with it, even if I do have a Mohawk.
