LODs Not Appearing / Missing

Question

Posted

Hi,

I've used DynDOLOD 3 with DynDOLOD DLL SE until now, without issue. Now I wanted to try DLL NG instead. I ran the program successfully and got the initialization message in game, but nothing appears as it should. There is no LOD on the surrounding mountains for example, and objects such as lampposts and buildings do not pop in until close. I updated the Resources file to Alpha 52 after running DynDolod 3 Alpha v1.79. The strangest thing is, When I first started a new game and then went outside, things appeared normal, once. Then I loaded an earlier save from just after I started the new game. The LODs were gone, and I haven't been able to get them back since; not with a new game and not with reinstalling and re-enabling the output files. It took over 6.5 hours to run the program the first time I did it, then realized I forgot the new settings for NG. The second time I ran it, it took almost 4.5 hours to run. So, I am loathe to try again unless I can identify the problem. Downgrade FarGrid references to NearGrid was disabled and Parent-Child was enabed when I ran the program the second time. The rest of my settings matched the regular Step guide for QHD. The one thing I know I probably did wrong was I enabled the Large tree checkbox without any .Ini edits. I would expect that to only cause issues with the trees, however. There is no bug report text file, the debug file exceeds the upload limit size for mod authors, dragging and dropping the log text into this box does nothing, and I don't see any other way to attach the log file. I looked at the Paste.ee site, but the log file is also too large for an unregistered user, and I don't understand how it works anyway. Definitely feeling frustrated after all of that.

Hello,

I have bit of the problem with the grass LODs. When I check the option to generate them in DynDOLOD none of the LODs appear in the game - see below.
I've generated the grass cache for NGIO correctly and it works in game.
The Grass LOD option is enabled and says 'Found 11155 .cgid cache files Found 116 grass billboards' in DynDOLOD advanced window. The mode also matches the mode in the NGIO settings.

However if I disable grass LOD generation in DynDOLOD it works just fine

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Here are my logs https://www.mediafire.com/file/8hb77v4sci0e8zd/DynDOLOD_Logs.zip/file

Moved to a thread with a similar problem. See https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Use-Search. See posts above.

Update to the latest version of NGIO as just recently discussed.

Yup, that was it, so thank you good sir for a clue. I was pretty sure I had the latest NGIO version but apparently I was one behind. After updating & regenerating grass cache all works as intended. Well almost...

There is this one thing that annoys me a bit,so maybe you can help with this as well. There is this texture mismatch for the mountains in the distance at DYNDOLOD rendering distance. Most noticeable on the closer mountain on the right edge of the screenshot.

I know I can extend the distance DynDOLOD renders the objects and then they match - but it costs FPS.

Is there any way to match those textures using lower DynDOLOD rendering distance?

If you use a mod that changes the mountain full textures like moutainslab01.dds and mountainslab02.dds, then the mod should also contain updated LOD textures to replace the vanilla rendered object LOD textures like Mtn*LOD.dds used by the far away mountain LOD models. TexGen can not update them yet.

No logs were provided.

The last logs showed that only DLC2SolstheimWorld had an error.
<Error: LODGenx64Win.exe failed to generate object LOD for DLC2SolstheimWorld. LODGenx64Win.exe returned C0000005. Check C:\DynDOLOD\Logs\LODGen_SSE_DLC2SolstheimWorld_log.txt>

Hence, the instruction to only select DLC2SolstheimWorld and clicking Execute LODGen in expert mode to only rerun that generation again.

"LODGenx64.exe generated object LOD for DLC2SolstheimWorld successfully" is the expected result and means that this time the object LOD meshes were generated without error.

You can now install the output as usual.

Then start DynDOLOD one more time to generate Occlusion.esp only. Uncheck everything else - Object LOD, Ultra and Dynamic LOD, Terrain Underside. Only check Occlusion data and its Plugin checkbox in the advanced or expert mode. https://dyndolod.info/Help/Occlusion-Data#Generation

I thought it was fixed, but it wasn't. The lod doesn't show up in the game.

Moved to the appropriate thread for the reported problem. See posts above. See https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Use-Search

See all answers for https://dyndolod.info/FAQ#Entire-LOD-missing.

The log shows you are using ACMOS and did not set Level32=1 to generate object LOD level 32. So this is most likely thee cause. Make sure to follow the instructions of ACMOS correctly.

Also see https://dyndolod.info/FAQ#Checking-DynDOLOD-plugins-for-errors-with-xEdit

I suggest to remove the reported reference 0x3D2354BF. The next Alpha will include an updated configs file for the latest version of LOTD.

I'm stupid. I reinstalled dyndolod to fix the previous problem, but I guess I didn't set level 32 at that time. I set it again and it works fine. Thank you.
And if you change the file name to LODGenx64Win.bak, it works fine without having to run it twice. However, it takes a little longer. Thank you very much for your help.
