Random CTD`s

OK guys, im coming here coz i cant think of anywhere else to go.....

 

I`ve just got myself a new GPU (ASUS 4Gb GTX 670), but even before that i was getting these annoying CTDs.

 

My game is running with all the DLC`s, and fully updated.

 

I am running most of STEP with a few extra non-step mods mixed in. To be fair my mod list a bit huge, but i figure that STEP has trialed and tested these mods to perfection. Here is my current load list, taken from Wrye Bash....i have my mods prefixed with the STEP sections ans "S" for STEP "NS" for non-STEP mods...

But what im getting is random CTDs....they are not reproducable at the same times, or places. They happen after 5mins, or after an hour, indoors or outdoors, talking to NPCs, or looking through inventories. There is nothing that i can rattle it down to. They just happen if and when they want.

 

My system:

i5 2500K OC`d to 4.2Ghz

8Gb Corsair RAM

ASUS GTX 670

Windows 7 x64 (on 60Gb SSD)

1Tb HDD samsung (with all games and progs installed)

Skyrim now running with top versions of all texture mods, and SKYrealism ENB fantasy config

 

 

I have all of my textures and BSAs optimized with apipino`s Optimizer Textures. I cant really be bothered with the massive hooha of going through DDSopt.

 

SKSE, TESV, and ATTK are all set to run as admin.

 

I have tried running with attk, with just SKSE.

 

Tried running the skyrim performance monitor and it shows me nothing.

 

Restarted the game several times, re-installed several times, but i still get these random CTDs. They ar not related to anything i can find. Whenever i have found a reproducable CTD i have found the problem and removed the mod responsible. But now i am just left with these irritating crashes. sometime just when going in or out of building, sometimes during a fight, and sometimes just when im running around the world, sometimes when im riding around. There doesnt seem to be any reason for any of it. But it still happens.

 

Does anyone have any ideas. Ive tried everything that i can find, and im still getting the problems

Oh and before someone says, i was having this problem on my old GPU (GTX 275)

 

My system still had 8Gb of RAM but the game never used up more than 2Gb...so im not having the 3-4Gb RAM issue...this is seperate

Ive just found out about papyrus logging....ROFL

 

So gonna set that up and play through for a while, i`ll save my crash logs and report back .....Maybe i can figure it out and help someone else in the process

OK since my last post 5 CTDs,

 

Real Shelter (CoT version) kicking out LOADS of issues...so thats gone...

Apprentice of Thuum also gone.....

 

But im still having random freezing and CTDs....but all coming from ...

Sooooo......looking at that it seems to me im getting freezes from the sounds glitching...looks like im gonna have no choice but to go through the DDSopt procedures...

Can't rally read your list of mods (picture I'm getting is to small to read). However, witch so many mods it will be difficult to anyone to troubleshoot (you can only know so many mods), especially when you can't pinpoint circumstances (location, action... anything). What I suggest, if your game is unplayable, is uninstall some mods.

Try to build some core mods list and try if it's stable. If not try to read comments on Nexus (and here) on mods you would not like to let go, Google them.

 

I don't know how mods like WerewolfPerksExpanded work with SkyRe. SkyRe is comprehensive Perk overhaul, so I don't know.

Many of your mods are very script heavy. Some of the most fun are. Maybe try disabling them in SkuUI, if there is such option, at least for a while.

Do you find mods like better sorting necessary when using SkyUI?

The Werewolf Perks works fine with SkyRe as they affect different perk trees. SkyRe does not touch the Dawnguard perk trees at all.

As DanielCoffey says, SKYre doesnt touch the dawnguard perks at all, the dev says he wont make it that way either coz there are so many other mods that do a great job.

I suppose i could get rid of Better Sorting, but i dont get any issues from that mod, i only get crashed when entering/leaving interior cells, random freezing, and crashes while going about my buisiness during gameplay.

 

I did include a link to the full size picture so you can see.....ive only got about 20 mods that are not in STEP. And now i`ve found the papyrus logging feature, ive already remove a couple of mods...

 

But now from what i can see from the logs (and ive posted them above) its comming from the sounds...FXBirdFlee....this is being listed as form the main skyrim esm aswell....so my current choice is to go through the STEP bsa optimizing tutorials, and get the bethesda bsa`s all sorted.

It's much better to "List packages" in Wrye Bash and paste them in txt form. In spoiler tag of course. And should be easier for you too. Just a suggestion.

 

And thanks for the info about "The Werewolf Perks". I know people were complaining, that at higher levels Werewolfs are not easy to play and I will be looking for something to compliment SkyRe if that's true. However, for me it is not only problem, that this combination will not break my game. Problem is, how well it will work together. Take "Apocalypse Spells" as an example. It will work with SkyRe, and even is recommended by T3end0 but it doesn't fit in combat/magic system. I know author is working on ApocRe, version of his mod for SkyRe. So before I decide, I will take closer look and probably ask around some more.

 

Ahh, and for at last two of your mods (Crossbows Basic Collection, Winter is Coming) you can find compatibility patches here: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29375 and I don't see them in your list.

You can find suggestion, that you probably don't need dynamic fire. But never used myself.

Didnt think i needed the compat patches for skyre when reproccer was about. Mind you didnt read that page properly either and noticed it says REPROCCER PATCHES!!! lol

 

i did spot in the forum page you postede they say to get rid of a couple of mods...so i`ll give that a go

Those are compatibility patches for reproccer, as some mods won't be sorted out properly unless you modify some things (it's all described on the reproccer page if you wish to do it yourself instead, quite timeconsuming however)

That bird flee trigger could come from one of two places. It is a long-standing vanilla bug thrown by "invisible birds" used to trigger the flock of birds or bats like the ones in the tree near the Riverwood bridge, near the three standing stones and in the cave at the end of Bleak Falls Barrow. If you search for the script name you will see it has been an issue for a long time. The worst one for it is the Riverwood bridge.

 

In addition, one STEP mod, Birds & Flocks, uses that trigger to add more birds into the game. According to the mod author, the cleaned version and the HF addition may throw the odd error but it should not be critical.

 

If you are getting those bird triggers logged at CDT times in places where the five (I think it is five) vanilla bird triggers occur, then you could temporarily remove Birds & Flocks to see if the errors go away.

The only tweaks i have made to my ini`s are the ones STEP recommends. And using skyrim config i have set all of the "threaded" options.

 

But i`ll try taking off the WTF mod and see if that helps. Seems im getting the "invisible birds" thing DanielCoffey mentions above.

The "threaded" options have been known to cause instability

The game is already threaded "enough". There is no noticeable extra performance gain from activating them so might as well leave them off. At least that was the conclusion of my tests.

delete threaded tweaks, they crushed my game in certain circumstances (and these circumstances are reproducible).
