Looking for more information on DynDOLOD option "Uprade NearGrid Large References to FarGrid" as well as MCM option "Large References Fix"

Question

Posted

As I understand it, having RTMFL'd...

If uLargeRefLODGridSize = ugrid, check "Upgrade NearGrid Large Refs to FarGrid" when running DynDOLOD. Do not check MCM option "Large Refs Fix"

If uLargeRefLODGridSize > ugrid, do not check "Upgrade NearGrid Large Refs to FarGrid" when running DynDOLOD. Check MCM option "Large Refs Fix"

What are the advantages and disadvantages of these methods? Which of these methods should one go with to maximize reduction of pop-in and flicker? I ask because the tooltip from within DynDOLOD seems to indicate that "Upgrade NearGrid Large Refs to FarGrid" will look better visually, but this seems counterintuitive as it will require uLargeRefLODGridSize = 5
